- Well I scored the mother of all book hauls, I'm going to call it a book hoard! I was told there was between 300 to 400 sci-fi fantasy books in these 8 boxes. I never counted, it was just too many books! I hope you enjoy me opening these boxes and reacting to some of the books I got. This is going to be a series of videos split up into 3 parts. I hope you enjoy and keep reading!

I read so many of these authors growing up. And a few of these books on my TBR now. 😁
I’m adding all of these books to my reading list, thanks for sharing! 💫 Keep rising to be who you want to be! 💫 #keeprising #risingtobe #aswerise
I know I was down on Vonnegut in my top disappointments, but you got some of his best. Sirens of Titan is one of my all-time favorites and Welcome to the Monkey house has some insanely good short stories. Cat's Cradle is a classic and will help inform you on his other book you received, Wampeters, Foma, and Granfalloons (another short story collection).
Also Stardust for Neil Gaiman, short and quick and hilarious. Also the movie is excellent too
Thanks for all the notes! I’m not a fan of Stardust. I have read that one, didn’t really enjoy it.
I’m looking forward to adding a Vonnegut to my TBR this year.
@@TreeBeardBookReviews Oh no! Good to know, have you read Norse Mythology? That's a different Gaiman and worked for me (who likes his other work though I struggled with American Gods too
I haven’t but that is one I’m interested in. I’ve read the Poetic Edda so I know a little bit about Norse Mythology. I do plan to read the Ocean at the end of the Lane next month
@@TreeBeardBookReviews You'll probably hate it! :D :D Seriously, epic video, well done!
TreeBeard you outta CONTROL bro!! Keep the great vids comin
Thank you!
What an awesome haul! Can't wait to see what else you got!
This is a banger of a haul! So much fun 🤩
Thanks Baron! It was a lot of fun. My wife enjoyed it as much as I did
So many authors I don't know! So cool watching what you pull out! Nice selection of Donaldson! I've only read Thomas Covenant from him so far.
I heard great things about the Stephen R. Donaldson books.
This is so cool. You got me checking my local Facebook market place! 😂
ya sometimes you can find some amazing deals
Eating lunch and watching this haul. Double feast. Lots of great and vintage books here. Excellent.
I have no room for books in my house, so vicarious fun watching other people's book hauls
🤩 Wow what a haul your sure are lucky!
Zelazny, Wolfe, Wyndham, tons of the best books from each of them! Man you scored
Ya big time. I have all their books on a shelf in my basement now.
Darksword Trilogy started okay, but got so bad lol. I haven't read the Deathgate Cycle yet but I have those!
Nice! You’ll have to let me know how Deathgate is if you get to it before me
All I know of Turtledove is his alternate history series, though I haven't read any. I'll say here as well, such an amazing haul!
Thanks Dom! Actually the guy who I got these all off messaged me yesterday saying he has more boxes if I’m interested
🤯 Unbelievable. The book haul of all book hauls. Wow!
Wow what a huge haul! Lots of super obscure stuff here, but I have two series that you must keep and read. Death Gate Cycle (Dragon Wing, Elven Star, etc) by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, and Wicked Day by Mary Stewart. It’s an Arthur retelling, and she’s my favorite Arthurian writer so far. Gene Wolfe is on my list to read too.
Thanks Chas for the recommendations. Those are all on my basement shelf already 😊
@@TreeBeardBookReviews you’re welcome. Good to hear. 🙂
Yay, I have and want to get to the Death Gate Cycle books! Nice haul so far
A lot of comments about Death Gate cycle. I know my wife wants to read it. She set aside all the Mercedes’ Lackey books
Library of Allenxandria said there's a dog. Sold. 😂
Lol a dog in it like Farseer? Because if that’s the case I don’t want to be cutting onions while reading it.
Hobb is very talented - she made me not care about canines in a whole trilogy 😂 (not a Farseer fan)
It sounds like the dog is a sidekick character. I mean, you saw those dragon covers! Dog + dragons, yes please
Happy reading to you!! 🎬🎥
Omg, I am sooo jealous of your treasure trove!
A lot of these authors were really big names--they may have ridiculous titles and covers, but the authors are solid!
Ya I got some amazing finds! I've catalogued everything I got in this book haul and the second lot from Ralph.
Going on to part II 🤗
Apart from Elantris and the Steve. Erickson books am not familiar with the others... I have heard of Tad Williams, but have yet to read anything of his...
“Better than a wardrobe malfunction” 😂😂😂
As far as I'm concerned A Fire Upon the Deep is the GOAT of hard sci-fi. The absolute best and yea I've read Dune, Hyperion, etc. I have a signed copy, my reading paper back copy, and the hardcover SFBC edition
I have looked that one up since and I’m definitely going to check it out
@@TreeBeardBookReviews yay! Looking forward to your review. No rush, my TBR is like a billion books long so I know how it is trying to get to certain books
Haha mine just got 400 books longer 😂
I hope you kept all the Jack Whyte books. The Sky Stone begins another take on the Arthurian legend, basing it in the Roman occupation of Britain. Lots of detail. His books are amazing. You have 2 separate series there.
Hey Val! I did keep them! I have a full list of the books on my discord of everything I got in this book haul and then the second lot of boxes I got from Ralph. On the list I indicated my 100% keepers
I've read A Fire Upon the Deep and Fall of Hyperion, they are both top notch science fiction! I've got The Sirens of Titan on my self but not read yet. Nice Malazan pickups! OH MAN nice finds for the Gene Wolfe paperbacks! I've been on the lookout for those 🤯
“They came out with a Bard IV, guys” 😂
Some of those Zelazny books are some of his Amber books and that copy of Nine Princes in Amber is 👌. So many good looking books here. Keep the Gene Wolfe, yes. Those paperback Book of the New Suns are kinda hard to find, especially in that shape.
I think I saw a Dave Wolverton book and he actually just passed last week. I’m a tad envious of this haul and this is only part 1 😭
Ah that’s sad about Dave Wolverton. Yeah the gene wolf books were a big score. I think I even got a duplicate of one
I'm jealous of that gene wolf. I found the last 2 in the shadow of the torturer series but I'm still looking for the first 2.
I was really lucky! I hope you find them!
Harry Turtledove writes alternate history. That's sometimes considered a subgenre of fantasy.
I have enjoyed the Moving Castle (Howls moving castle )by Diana Wynne Jones, but the Chrestomanci series should be good.Guess it's mostly children's book but interesting.
I am enjoying this haul and all those covers😃
Thanks Shewtha!
Timothy Zahn wrote some Star Wars books, notably the Thrawn series.
Oh I heard that is a good series
alot of these i have never heard of
All the Christopher Stasheff books were published by Ace.
I read Prospero's Children as a teenager. Loved it! It's kind of a historical fantasy time travel story. I didn't get into the sequel but I remember really liking that one. Would recommend.
Someone by me was doing similar, huge boxes of fiction books but by the time I followed up the whole lot was sold. Maybe it was you that ruined it for me.
Also, deathgate is awesome.
Uh oh. May have been!
I can tell you a bit about Turtledove’s work. His real “strength” is that he writes series’ based on really interesting alternate history scenarios.
Unfortunately the execution is pretty poorly done. His characters (if you can even call them that) are flat and completely uninteresting. They are basically widgets representing nationalities inserted into the story to incessantly smoke, gripe and advance or retreat a few hundred yards per scene. They have no personality or individuality. His dialogue is repetitive and boring. His plot and scene writing is again repetitive, boring and shallow. In my opinion his work is not worth your time.
As someone who’s really interested in exploring history through these what if scenarios, I gave him alot of chances. If you had to read him, I would suggest the World War series, where an alien race invades earth during the height of WW2. That series is the best of the ones I read, but still pretty mediocre stuff overall.
Thanks Jesse. Ya after I unhauled everything I did some research on his books and determined they weren’t for me. I’m a very character driven reader so I wasn’t super interested in holding onto them.
You're literally just naming the books and saying "that's cool" and that's it. Kind of lame to be honest.
You sounded disappointed when there was so many zelazny books, i can take them off from you if you want
