    Thank you.
Australia needs people like Kevin Rudd - especially today. Someone who understands China and speaks honestly and respectfully about the country - without sensationalising the issue. I hope that the people that needed to hear this message have been able to read between the lines.

All countries should cooperate and makes the world more attractive and peaceful so that everyone live in a better world. No propaganda, no hates. That's my hopes and wishes.

Mr. Rudd would most likely be misunderstood by the majority of Australians. His intelligence and eloquence would be lost on them. I do hope that as a commentator on the political and economic relationships between China and other world powers he receives much greater exposure. His knowledge and insight are formidable while his style and presentation extremely appealing. A great man in many ways. Thankyou Kevin.

Mr. Rudd dwarfed many subsequent Australian Prime Ministers in terms of knowledge necessary for the position of prime minister.

US's ally in Asia i.e Korea and Japan is not as solid as what many western people will think.
Those two Asian countries don't have the culture root for a US support, the are US ally due to geopolitical circumstances, but once that changes, their attitude towards US-China will also change. We can already observe some stance change in Japan as we speak

Wonder if Trump have that political knowledge to speak like this, instead of just shouting
    ‘You are fired!’
    ‘It’s Cheyna’s fault’
    ‘You are fake news!’

Thankyou Kevin for another interesting and insightful assessment on the current status of the CCP and global relations. In respect to the economic stability of China, the GDP cannot be used as a sole indicator to reflect the current fiscal health of the Chinese economy, especially at a time when many countries are importing manufacturing machinery from China to enable their own future manufacturing and reduce future reliance on China. The temporary increase may soon be followed by a reduction in GDP.
Xi Jinping is very different from the previous 3 leaders who have served since Chairman Mao, and his controversial Style is more old school, like an Emperor who dictates policy from the top of a verticle administration. The Dual circulation economy is not a proven system and would be more likely to unwittingly promote domestic poverty as the country struggles to maintain a growing GDP in the eyes of the international community.

  • @patrickyong1501

Agree with his current analysis of China but his expectation of the communist government's willingness to maintain the status quo in Taiwan and South East Asia seems premature and naive. Chinese government still maintains a United Front department similar to that from Soviet Union that is used to grow influence and sympathy from influential people such as Mr Rudd here. They will say something to you but do another thing, just look at Hong Kong.
