    I flew the "Pocket Rocket" for five years as a Training Captain - loved it.
    There was no such thing as being high on approaches as we often did 10,000ft at 10 miles strait in & still Spool Up (no thrust under 80% with those engines) & stabilise.
    In our day in Australia there was no speed restriction below 10,000 ft so we could keep up 300 kts to around 4 miles strait in.
    We did a regular ferry flight from YBSC to YBBN at 5,000 ft / 300kts chock to chock in 10 minutes doing 200 cockpit checks plus ATC (Give that a try & see if you can beat us) 😊

      @@A330Driver Sorry - YBSU Sunshine Coast.
      The route must go out around the coast for noise abatement.
      In our day it was Maroochydore & btw another Captain & I flew the first jet service in there in 1984.
      I still have my training notes for the F28 on what we called the Speed Brake rule which I would be willing to share if I could find a way.

      @@billolgaauHello Captain, I am trying to create a Virtual Airlines allowing simmers to fly the Fokker 28, it will replicate TAT European Airlines. However very few documentation is available about the plane? Would you care to share about it? 🙏🏻✈️❤️ I will be then able to edit and prepare some additionnal documentations. I already started to prepare a Loadsheet template. I am missing the Balance sheet to complete it. Also I cannot find any good checklist for the plane, maybe you have some? I will definetly care about Spoilers SOP and others. Cheers, Alex from Switzerland

      It's a pretty neat feature indeed!
      On the other hands side though, how often will you *really* use it?
      I'll probably do a few times at first but that's it.
      Do note however that in modern airlines those panels are super complex. I tend to say an A330s Forward Attendant Panel is more complex than the entire F28s Autopilot.

    Thanks for the video. In the beginning, you mention the lift dumper at the tail. As to my knowledge, the lift dumpers are at the wings, the speed brake is at the tail ... a Fokker rarity.
    "It was also fitted with a five-section lift-dumper that would only be operated after landing, it was decided to employ a lift-dumper rather than alternatives such as thrust reversers, as the designers felt that this arrangement would result in a reduction in both weight and maintenance workload. ..... One uncommon feature of the F28 was the movable split-sections installed on the tail cone; these would be hydraulically opened outwards to act as a variable air brake."

    With the exception of demonstrating the scope of the system & graphical modelling I have never understood the focus on cabins. I do not pilot from the cabin, and I do not simulate being a passenger.
    Then again, I have the same beliefs about the modelling of airport interiors (except boarding gate area). I think it is unnecessary unseen elements that only adds extra load to a scenery - and thus our frame rates.

    • @justflight
      @justflight 11 месяцев назад

      We agree in other a/c we've paid less attention but in this we had the opportunity to go one step further, to bring the cabin to life (minus the passengers of course) so we took it. It's just one of those nice touches that helps to complete the picture. It's been appreciated by most so it was worth doing. But totally agree it's usually a low priority for us. Thanks.

It is an awesome retro bird like the HeatBlur Tomcat, it looks absolute polished (I have only seen one small graphics glitch: The service door is clipping through the roof of the plane while opening and closing for a second), it sweetens and shortens the eternal wait for the Fenix V2 (legends say it will release next millenium), and it wants me to learn some awesome retro VOR navigation skills.... which I never did. What was your experience with that and have the devs stated anything about that?

    • @A330Driver
      @A330Driver  11 месяцев назад

      I only started flying it yesterday, the others five days earlier, as I went on a four day trip exactly the evening where the preview copy was sent to content creators.
      They are still actively working on it until release and new versions were released to creators pretty much every day. Maybe an earlier version had such bugs with the autopilot. At least on those four flights I did with mine so far I did not encounter bugs with the AP. It worked as per the manual.
      In regards to the flight model there's two things you can do wrong to kill your climb performance.
      1) Forget to release your gust lock. Your engines will be limited to 70% thrust, resulting in approx 230kt at 6000ft in level flight maximum (and don't ask me why the flight controls would work anyway - probably an issue with the pre-release beta)
      2) Set your climb thrust incorrectly. Jet engines - especially turbojets like those on the F28 - do not produce thrust in a linear relationship with N1. The last 30% N1 make approx 70% of total thrust output. In the F28 you set your thrust by Turbine Temperatures. There's rather little variance in TGT at high thrust settings though. So you can easily set 10% N1 too little, costing you an easy 30% of total thrust. You got to be very careful with powersettings in the F28, you need to do them precisely at high altitudes.
      When that's done though it climbs very nice.
