I rode an R6 once. Within 10 seconds I was doing 3 times the speed limit and honestly, I swear I thought I hadn’t broken the limit at all. Smooth like a glass dildo, sexy like a bald badger. The R6 is a capable machine for sure.
@@nomadben Thank you. That's what I'm talkin about. I've had my R6 for 3 1/2 years. I've never operated it within the confines of the law and never will. This bike has enabled me to "shit on the man and rub his face in it" at the same time. It has saved me $200,000 and 200 years in prison because I have "Felony Eluded" the cops over 40 times on it, I'm pleased to report.
@@HalfdeadRider what he means is the motorcycle *NEEDS* you, you are a cruical part of the machine. In a car you are inside but on a motorcycle you are the finishing touch. You litterally become one with the machine (legs around tank, hands on bars, butt on seat and feet on pegs)
There has been an international dick measurement contest since 2003/2004 because Wold Superbike Championship allows 1000cc 4-cylinder bikes. Just look at the escalation of power between 2001 and now, it is INSANE
That was my exact first bike. It’s a really great bike to start on if you have some self control. I’ve never dropped it, never wrecked. Been riding it for 3 years now and it’s a awesome bike!!
im 17, have lots of driving expeirence and an overall good driver, I want to get into motorcycles and really drive any motor vehicle within my limits, would an r6 be a bad first buy for me?
@@zachv1035 As long as you’re responsible with it, and exercise some caution ( especially when first starting) it’s not a bad idea. It has a lot of power to give so treat the throttle with respect and show some restraint. it should all go well. Now as far as a “first bike” it’s great in the sense you won’t grow out of it. Some people ride a 600cc bike and never upgrade, and tbh that’s completely rational. The R6 will handle whatever the road throws at you, and then some. But if you have never ridden a motorcycle in general or a sport bike more specifically, I would not make the R6 the first bike you ever ride. It is relatively light in terms of super sports. But the R6 particularly has a more aggressive riding position and a very reactive throttle. If your comfortable on bikes already, and have a Grasp on the basics of riding The R6 is great, and if your set on a 600 the R6 is the way to go.
@@zachv1035Your insurance is going to bend you over a barrel without even a courtesy spit. Grab a middleweight P-twin if you want to start on something with balls that’s also not going to cost you a third of the value of the bike in liability alone.
@Andrew Humphrey yeah thats a good choice aswell but You cant lean with that bike Its too heavy because it has 5 cylinder but hayabusa has 4 and a turbo,so Its lighter and more powerful.
He needs to review a modern enduro bike to talk about the insane torque they have and how race-ready they are (susp + exhaust and you can go for a national title)
This video made me buy a 2005 Yamaha R6. I've had it for 3 years and I absolutely love it, so much so that I wake up looking forward to the ride to my boring job. Thank you RCR
Just do it. It will rapidly increase your reflexes and you'll be amazed because it really has excellent handling characteristics. 75 mph feels like 40 mph on it. I've only been up to 135 mph on mine and it was still pulling hard but I got scared and shut it down. It can get up there so fast you don't realize it. I knew I was travelling in excess of 100 mph but I was shocked to find I was doing 135 mph. Things were flying by me though pretty freakin fast when I think about it.
@@evanmorrow1234 I tried my friend's gsxr 600 for the first time a few days ago coming from a 250, I unintentionally hit 149 (in mexico). That quantum of pure bliss has kept me awake for the last 3 nights. It is on par with every orgasm I've had with a girl. I have decided to buy it from him for full asking price because I cannot wait to hit that speed again.
@@nomadben Hello nomadben, I've since bought the bike and within the one month I've owned it, I've ridden it about 3500 miles. I've hit the top speed a good amount of times and have really given it the guts in the twisties, scrubbing off the remaining chicken strips my friend left behind and seriously pushing the bike to the limits. The fact I'm still alive is very likely a miracle in itself but I would hope to say that in this mere month I've owned this 600, I've progressed an impressive amount as a rider. The growth may not be as drastic as being a complete noobie on a 250, but I think I have what it takes to tame the beast
@@vonhellsing6406just got a r6 today as my first bike and I have a history with dirt bikes the start of this vid was directed to me I’ll update you in a year
A year ago I watched this video and bought an r6 when I was 18 for $2400 as my first bike, it's a year from now and I agree with everything said. I haven't dropped or crashed yet but talk about cheap power that really shouldn't be a starter bike. It's possible to start on a 600 just not fun. This video nails it, subscribed.
Furthermore, you didn't actually be learn how to *be* fast, you're just going fast on a mountain of horsepower Fast bikes will make you go fast, slow bikes teach you hot to _be_ fast
Couldn't agree more! Had my 05 r6 as a starter bike and thankfully talked my way out of two speeding tickets. Sold it shortly after :) now I have the 17 z650
There are 3 kinds of comments from those who start on powerful bikes.. "yea if you respect it you will be fine. It only goes as fast as you tell it to" Then there are "yea it was a bad idea, I wrecked in the first season" And last but not least.. "yea you are right, I havent went down but yea other people probably couldn't handle it like me hurrr durrr"
@Fail Zero I would never recommend living here; but coming out to buy a motorcycle and/or ride one is okay. The weather here is about the only good thing I have to say about it.
GUILTY-16 years ago the 19 year old me made, word for word, that exact argument FOR the R6 as a first bike and as expected- I won the moron award and went down hard. The intro Mr Regular wrote up for this is the most accurate I have yet to hear.
I started on a grom. Honestly, best decision I ever made as a rider going from off road to on. Say what you will about small displacement bikes, but in the end, making mistakes on a small bike to start is allot better that making them on a larger bike.
I love how personal and gritty true these reviews are.... owning this exact bike just makes this video that much sweeter because everything he says is 100% true and resonates between my ears.
I love this review, makes me laugh at myself. I got a '04 FZ6S (detuned R6 engine, power at 7-12krpm instead of 8-13k) as a first bike at the age of 27 and I thought I was reasonable enough for such a 600cc bike . I was not. :)
I had a SV 650s as my first bike years ago. Its what I always recommend to people for their first bike. It has a very linear power band. No surprises when you are accelerating hard. It has enough power to keep up with faster bikes anywhere but the interstate. You can also turn it into a track bike when you finally buy a faster bike. Lots of people track them so its easy to find information and parts. Its also just a great bike and lots of fun.
I really wish Mr R would review the new beginner bikes since the Ninja 250 is pretty much an antique compared to the new gen gems like the SV, FZ/MT07, KTM 390s etc.
I've been driving 6 years without a single accident, but I crashed within a month of getting a bike (Without even being reckless). Gear up and get something you don't care about if you decide to start riding.
Lawrence Lentini i hear that man same happened to me, within 1 week. Im not a bad driver, I just live in Colombia, where the traffic is a mess. It was a $900 (new) 125cc bike, cost $30 to fix. A year and a half later, I'm on an MT-03 and I can really enjoy it and understand it.
@@GuitarGuy650 a scooter has a footwell, that's why more powerful ones are called maxi-scooters. Aprilia, Yamaha, and more all make +300cc "scooters". They're basically very comfortable motorcycles, like a Honda Goldwing. My 125cc had the riding position and styling of a 1970s Kawasaki, it's a low-displacement motorcycle, and don't try to tell me and the millions of other people who drive sub 200cc motorcycles all over the developing world that they are in fact not motorcyclists.
@@GuitarGuy650 Not sure if this is true in Colombia, but here in the States most motor vehicle departments consider scooters to be motorcycles. And don't sell a scooter short - they can be pretty fun even if they don't impress the dudebros riding 600's in shorts.
My first street bike was literally this exact bike.. just respect the power, gradually push yourself and don’t just rip the throttle. Take advanced motorcycle courses and become comfortable.. you’ll love love love this bike I promise
My first bike was a 1991 Suzuki Katana 600. It had 86 horsepower, and was fast enough to keep up with corvettes and mustangs, but it was nothing like a supersport 600, like this R6. A friend of mine bought a CBR929RR as a first bike, and wrecked it 2 weeks later. dumbass.
And the 929RR was a "1000cc sportbike" before those sportbikes went mad. Honda and Kawasaki mark the moment 1000cc sportbikes went mad because manufacturers really wanted to win the WSBK title. There is a big difference in the *Before the CBR1000RR and Kawasaki ZX-10R* times and the after
It's all about the rider, not the bike. A squid will wipeout on a Honda Grom or Ninja3, but I've known guys not even old enough to drink that behaved responsibly with liter bikes as their first bikes and never crashed them. Sometimes the more powerful bikes are easier to ride in a responsible fashion because those torquey engines let you short shift them.
Lol r/moto circlejerk shit. Most squids I know have never wiped out, only a couple have looped a wheelie. Most of the hi-viz uncles in my area are little fucking bitches that can't even ride in rain, or over wet leaves, and have spas attacks about 'em. gtfoh
The most important lesson you learn about driving fast vehicles is that it's not about bravery or raw skill or reckless abandon, it's about restraint. You have to be able to predict the future like a fortune teller as though they weren't scam artists. Scanning for gravel, oil slicks, inattentive drivers, cracks, potholes, corner radius changes constantly. It's about always knowing where the point of no return is and never crossing it. This isn't to say you can't own or use a truly fast vehicle, but you need to have the sensibility of Arnold in Terminator 2 scanning the road in his infrared vision to do it and come out alive. You need to understand tire grip, brake threshold, suspension travel, weight transfer, throttle control, and have all of your inputs trained to maximize each in any given scenario without conscious thought. Computers won't save you, either, those computers just allow you to go faster and faster before you run out of ability and it's too late for the computer to save you.
Legendary Loso both times I went down were in my driveway. The bottom of my driveway is gravel and when I pulled in at a slight lean, the bike just slipped out from under me. The second time I crashed I was coming down my driveway, it’s like 1/4 mile long, and hit a big rock, about the size of a softball as I was rounding a curve. Same thing happened, the bikes front tire washed out from under me and I ate shit. The r6 is super tame at low rpm so if you’re smart it can actually be a decent beginner bike. Now mine feels slow af and it’s only been a year
Brando Loudly oh no. But i mean thats luckily not a real mid or high speed crash, not a traditional low or high side you just tipped over on the ol rocks. But rip to your exhaust in that case
Why would it be heavier? The wheels are the gyroscopes for stability.. and for sensing there are solid state gyroscopes smaller than a tic tac---like those in your phone. A half a dozen servos for throttle, brakes, clutch, steering.. and a bit of movable ballast for cornering.. and there you go.
this is my 3rd bike, and i’m glad i waited. It’s truly great as a commuter and fun bike to putt around on, but i really did need a few thousand miles on a bike to build the discipline for this motorcycle. It’s painfully tempting with how smooth it gets above 8k rpm and the sound up there is just magical. Really amazing bike, but you need to be extremely honest with yourself about your limits. This bike *will* kill you, and i’ve had a friend die on an R6 when he pushed too far. Ride safe and enjoy this machine
For an 18 year old, fresh outta high school? Hell no, this is a terrible first bike, doesn't matter if they road dirt bikes all their life. But for someone in their mid-twenties or older? Sure, they're mature enough by then. I'd still rather start on a R3 though.
Bought my R3 at age 27. Having had dirt bikes as a kid but no real street experience I'm glad I stuck with something small. Theres been a handful of times where if I was on anything faster I would have ATE SHIT.
It's as if an 18 year old got a Huracan as a first car, except even worse because bikes are way "harder" to drive safe and much more punishing if you don't.
I'm no bike guy, but my personal reasoning is that if you want to learn how something works, you need to be able to learn on all its limits, lower and upper. If you can't handle a high revving engine that is not crazy powerful, starting on this is a stupid idea. Because you will learn how the bike handles at low rpm, but then once you reach the powerband you just die because you've never been on the powerband of a reasonable bike to understand what it means.
I mean my first bike was a 98 fzr600 that I bought when I was 16, I'm 18 now just upgraded to a 03 cbr600rr and haven't died or crashed yet. I think it just depends on your mentality and you have to make sure if you're gonna do dumb shit find a desolate road or area with no traffic or pedestrians.
I never rode a bike in my life until At the end of 2016 I bought a 2008 Yamaha r6. Best decision of my life. Never been down *knock on wood*, and it's been my only vehicle for 2 years with about 15,000 miles of riding on it up to date. I rip that thing full throttle all the time too, it's just about when and where, and perceiving what can happen, and what to do if it does happen. I live in the Tampa Bay Area too which is about as populated as you can get. Ride Safe and choose the bike that you like and makes you feel comfortable. It's always ok to push the limits as long as it's not too much.
Eh when ya do go down its more of a just get back on keep going Ive been down more times then i can count and hit by 8 cars ( 3 times my fault lol dont be a dickhead ) Still ride daily
Yamaha discontinued the R6 for the street and replaced it with the R7 - waaay more manageable, more forgiving and easier to daily. But the legend of the R6 will live forever
The intro to this video is EXACTLY the same kind of conversations/advice I've been having w/ experienced Motorcyclists; they all told me *NOT* to get an R6 as a first bike....mainly, because of the non-linear powerband.
My first bike was a ZX-6. I rode above my skill level one night took a corner at 70mph and crashed. Bikes like this are the end goal for me again at some point but he is not kidding when these bikes AREN'T for beginners. They aren't. ( But they are definitely sick as hell, fast and fun! But be careful! )
The R6 was my 3rd bike. I only kept it for 2 years and there were a couple of times that bike scared the dirty dog shit out of me. I made the mistake once thinking I was good enough for 14k RPM..I was way wrong lol. It was a great bike but don't under estimate it just because its a 600.
this bike is fast; i remember getting on the interstate not even trying to dog it and looking down realizing i was doing over 100... without having ANY idea I was speeding. It's true if you get on it hard you really have to hold on tight!
It was my 4th bike at 17. I had huge respect for it. Its really really fast and quick. And I miss it so much, have an injury from the army so I can never ride after I left for tour
I've ridden Touring bikes, I didn't like them, I like sport bikes, that's why I bought one, I put 67k miles on my 14 before I sold it, I knew how to ride it properly.
This was my first bike... was a mistake... didn't crash, but 6 years after selling... I'm now riding a Honda Monkey 125 with 9.5 bhp - and loving every minute!
I think it's because usable != wheelie power. It's got enough torque to be a pain in the ass to putt around in a city at sub 30mph speeds, but it won't wheelie in say, second gear, without dropping the clutch.
I never quite got that argument. The R6 pulls like 500 if you keep the revs low, if you're buying it with the intent of keeping the revs low because it's too fast on the powerband, then why not just get the 500 in the first place?
@Morning Sun Sparkles Dew on fresh grass I flexed a few teens. It's kinda weird when you find out that you're older than their parents and it's a little embarrassing when those parents find out you've been flexing the shit out of their daughter for the past month. I live in a small town too. I figured out the key is to never look the parents in the eye if that happens. It's only happened once so far
I remember watching this video 4 yrs ago before I started riding, and it only made me want to start on a 600 even more. I learned that "keeping your inner bro in check" was harder than I thought lol.
BrianShaggy074 bikes like the gsxr 600/Honda 600rr 2006-2008 still sell round 3-5.2k max r6 r semi cheap, but it all depends on miles, 10k and the drop pretty well (from what I’ve been seeing in my area, in Cali it’s another story.)
Michael Powell here in Chicago bikes are cheap af, miles don't matter much because I've seen bikes with less than 10k look and sound like shit than ones with 50k
This is awesome. That was me many years ago. Everyone had 600cc or 1000cc so I bought an 05 r6 in 2007. It had frame sliders, nice exhaust, steering stabilizer and cleaned up turn signals. I pretty much never rode a motorcycle before. I drove a manual car and rode a dirt bike once around a friends yard but that was about it. My friend brought it home for me. Then we went out riding. Tried to do a tight turn a little into the ride and fell over (day one) lmao. Oh well it had frame sliders so no damage. A summer or two later I discovered that the steering stabilizer was turned all the way up. I always thought the bike was hard to turn and never realized that was causing the issues. I drove it pretty easy most of the time. Never wrecked. Usually didn't ride with people because they got goofy doing stunts Or it was too hard to keep up in the corners and I didn't want to push it. It was a nice bike. A lot of fun.
Got a CBR600RR as a “first big bike” aged 19 in 2010. Only just replaced it, downsized to a Ninja 400 as was so tired of the torture of commuting into the city on the CBR. With less than 500miles on the Ninja I can already tell that if I’d initially got something like it as my first bike I’d definitely be a better rider than I am now.
Seeing how I have never ridden a motorcycle before, nor do I even know how to ride one, that is hardly an insult. If my math is correct, 1000% x zero skill = zero skill...
“My pulse has gone cold when i crashed into a pole with my Yamaha” “Im looking through you while you’re looking through your phone and then leaving with a Yamaha” “I don’t want an r1 but I need something to picture for my instagram”
Except this time is not a joke or an exaggeration. This engine is N/A and makes around 215hp/litre Best power/displacement in a N/A engine in competiton? F1 used to make around 850-900hp with 3000cc V10 engines so 300hp/litre
the bike. DOES NOT MAKE ANYTHING NEAR 215 Horsepower you fucking moron. 2016 1000's make if you're lucky 205 HP. This 05 probably has 110 at the wheel.
+Zolonka He said "per litre", not per 600CC. You call him a 'fucking moron' and didn't even read his comment through or try to understand it. It has 124HP as mentioned in the video. It's 600CC. 600/6 = 100CC 124/6 = 20.6HP per 100CC 100CC X 10 = 1000CC(To make it a litre) 20.6HP X 10 = 206HP Per Litre He was 8HP off. Looks like you're the "fucking idiot" here buddy.
Can confirm, purchased new in 2007 R6 as my first bike at 21 years old. Rode dirtbikes for years and used exactly that excuse. Insanely intense and fast/scary bike with a couple of very very close calls myself and I am a pretty cautious person and rider. But when its 1am and no one is on the freeway all you can see is a black vortex ahead of you begging to squeeze the throttle and sink into the double bubble of trouble. 130mph+ arrives in the blink of an eye on these things. There are very few products in life which give you the exact expectation you desire before purchasing it. Because you cannot explain to someone the feeling of ripping up to redline in 2nd and 3rd gear on one of these bikes it's something they have to experience for themselves. You will remember the first time you do!!
Guys, there are 300 / 400 / 500 cc bikes as well. The ninja 500 for example is an excellent started bike. I'm considering to start riding (although getting a license is a pain in the ass in my country), and that's my preferred bike because it's cheap as hell as well. And it can go in 5 second (sometimes less if you're good) to 100 kmh / 60mph. I don't think 250cc are the best bikes to start, because they're overpriced for what they do, although they do hold value and can learn you a lot. I can get the ninja 500 cc cheaper than a decent 250cc bike, and it's not like the ninja 500 or the new ninja 400cc is crazy fast. 250cc bikes are fun as hell tho, but you're going to grow out of it fairly quick. A 500 or 400cc you might keep for the next 5-8 years or maybe forever.(ye I posted this comment elsewhere as a response as well)
I started on a 2003 Yamaha r6 as a first bike, very intimidating Bike when you have zero experience. I took my time with it and went down about twice at walking pace and another two times at walking pace but with frame sliders. Slowly moved out from a parking lot, Nighbors and then finally main roads. Never really pushed my limits on the road and if I didn’t feel comfortable it was definitely a no go. Not gonna lie tho the first I gave it full throttle I was in for a surprise. Going 60+ mph before I knew it. I recommend taking a riding course, you’ll learn a lot and these lessons could save your life one day. Ride safe friends.
I loved the hell out of my 125. Top Speed? 54 mph..... Most of the streets where limited to 30, and I could finally blow by those damned golf carts that cut me off on my bicycle. It was great.
I started on a R3 for about 8 months. Would have been longer but a coworker of mine purchased a GSXR750 for his first bike and I talked him into letting me ride it from the dealer to his home for him (as it was about a 25 minute hwy ride with traffic and I didn't want him to hurt himself). So, I had a buddy with a R6 who wanted me to practice on his bike first before I rode the larger bike lol. Met him at a park one night where we switched bikes and eventually took it on the hwy. Was amazed at how much faster it was over my R3. Just took a few minutes to get used to the weight and more aggressive position. Next day after work, I'm on my buddies 750 riding it to his place while he trailed me. Didn't take much to be going 100mph plus but felt nice. Ride successful, made it to his place in one peace. Next day (Saturday) me, him, and another buddy (who had experience on a 450 dirtbike) went out to let my coworker practice in a parking lot near his home. Before meeting them though, I stopped at the dealership I got my R3 from - left with a 2012 CBR 600 with about 4k miles only $5500. Trade in value for my R3 was just about what I paid for it since it was the same dealer. But anyway, never turned back lol. Looking back, the R6 still seemed slightly more intimidating than the gsxr 750 and my CBR for some odd reason. CBR felt a lot more comfortable and tamed in a way.
I used to work as a Machanic and I always said I wanted a get a r6 and the lead tech always said “What will you do in a year?” And I would say Idk 🤷♂️ he would then say you would want to go faster you would want exhaust tune etc. so he would then say just get a r1 you would never get bored with power
I love the r1 itz a beautiful bike but I'm riding a r6 right now it's my first bike and I didn't want to Get the r1 cause I figured it will be easier to be irresponsible. Love my r6. I'll upgrade to the r1 eventually
Goddamnit, Mr. Regular. Once again you review a sportbike and once again you forget to mention the reason they're so insanely fastSportbikes are so fast because manufacturers want to compete in SSP/SBK and STK600/STK1000 competitions. To a point, those 4 racing classes are like the Group A and Group N for cars respectively. Both ask you to build a great streetlegal vehicle so you can use it as a base to build a rocket on wheelsNobody needs any fullsize sportbike, at least not right now. Back in the F1-F2-F3 days manufacturers even built good lightweight sportbikes (250cc 2-strokes or 400cc 4-strokes) for the F3 class but nobody cared that much about those races, MotoGp used to reign supreme. That changed starting with the creation of the World Superbike Championship, that series became fairly important fairly quick using F1 bikes (750cc 4-cylinders or 900cc twins) for its main class and F2 bikes (SSP rules) for the World Supersport Championship, the support/feeder class. For a while we had very good SBK machines for the road but the Japanese started to be very fond of 1000cc four-cylinder bikes but Ducati and Honda first and then Aprilia didn't want such bikes. Honda even made a great 1000cc twin sportsbike (VTR1000 or RC51 depending on your country), Suzuki tried it to with the TL1000 but never raced it in WSBK. Users started buying 1000cc bikes, Japs focused on that, Japs abandoned WSBK and it almost died. When did WSBK resurrect? When they allowed air-restricted 1000cc four-cylinders and that was announced around 2003/2004, the exact year when the great increase of power in the Jap 1000c sportbikes happended, when Honda finally built their CBR1000RR after going through 900, 929 and 954, when Kawasaki ridiculed their ZX-9R by making the ZX-10R. Motorsports made these bikes and that is what makes motorcycling look so awesome and so insanely stupid all at once. I love them for that! So many many motorbikes are improved every year for racing's sake! Motocross, enduro, trials, sportbikes... All for racing but sold to anybody!
You should take a look at post-2004 enduro dirtbikes. It's insane how good those bikes are. From the engine (45hp at like 8500rpm from a 450cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine focused on torque) to the suspension (330mm and as thick as your arm) to the transmission (clutching when upshifting isn't very necessary, top speed close to 100mph, 0-60 on asphalt in 6 secs) to the chassis (the KTM is at 260lbs with an empty fuel tank) to the brakes to the tyres. Anyone can ride such machine, anyone can buy it, from pro riders that will only change some parts to guys that weight 300lbs and ride once a month. Why such excellence? The FIM says the bikes in the FIM EnduroGp (current name) must represent a roadgoing product and manufacturers know consumers will buy such insanely good products. It's like if mountain bikes started at the $1800 price range, there is no such thing as a bad enduro dirtbike from a major manufacturer, they either go all out or just don't build it. You don't see something like this in cars, dirtbikers are different. Weirdest thing? There is something beyond, something even more extreme.
Trialbikes are INSANE, out of this World, 100% nonsense, they can only do ONE thing right, they're not transport because you'll never use one to go from A to B because you should never do that. Somehow, people buy them, people cherish them, manufacturers sell them to the public. Did you think those modified cars made into dragsters are useless? Trialbikes are crazier, trialbikes are sold by manufacturers such as Honda, Gas Gas, Sherco, Beta, TRS and others. What is a trialbike? A supermodified dirtbike with no seating, short suspension and a low engine so keeping your balance when going very slowly or just stopping is easily doable. The engine is all about low end torque, no need to make big noise to move around. The power curve doesn't seem normal, it has a big early kick, it's all about that. You don't need power or torque when high because you're not supposed to be there. You need an early kick because you're supposed to (almost) stop, grab the clutch and accelerate enough so you can use the body to propel yourself over obstacles (logs, rocks, containers, metal structures, urban stuff, etc.). A pro rider will go over a 5ft vertical gap with a fullstock bike, probably between 6 inches and a whole foot more if using their competition bike. The FIM has a very nice channel on RUclips and sometimes upload full shows of their lesser-known championships. Go there and check out their 2017 "Trial-X" videos (indoor trials, Trial-X is just to make it look edgier), it's just magic. Great riders that haven't done trials will tell you it's magic because the mind cannot process a guy and a 150lbs bike doing such things. You could watch it at 1000fps and still not fully understand what makes it happen.
I Got a turbo hyabusa for my first bike and now I'm in heaven watching RUclips videos!
Was yammie proud

I rode an R6 once. Within 10 seconds I was doing 3 times the speed limit and honestly, I swear I thought I hadn’t broken the limit at all. Smooth like a glass dildo, sexy like a bald badger. The R6 is a capable machine for sure.

@@nomadben Thank you. That's what I'm talkin about. I've had my R6 for 3 1/2 years. I've never operated it within the confines of the law and never will. im 17, have lots of driving expeirence and an overall good driver, I want to get into motorcycles and really drive any motor vehicle within my limits, would an r6 be a bad first buy for me?
Lucky you, I used to crush a CB125 because an old man ran a red light.

My first bike was a 1991 Suzuki Katana 600. It had 86 horsepower, and was fast enough to keep up with corvettes and mustangs, but it was nothing like a supersport 600, like this R6. A friend of mine bought a CBR929RR as a first bike, and wrecked it 2 weeks later. dumbass.
I wouldnt say it's sensible to start on something bigger than a Suzuki GS500.
I owned a 92 Katana, 86 horsepower was optomistic, but it was a very fun bike.

NoBrakes23 Yup. If you're not able to handle a street bike a 250 won't save you.

Bad thing is most squids will always choose the 600 when they have the money.
And this is why high speed racing is a sport. The best drivers in the world are practically athletes.
Mr Regular starts motovlogging in 3. . . 2. .

How did you crash? Thinking about picking up a 05 R6 tomorrow for my first bike
Now mine feels slow af and it’s only been a year
Brando Loudly come on that barely counts as a crash, you just slipped a little hard
@@futureshit-glungis7202 yeah tell that to my exhaust tho

Bikes need a human to function..... gyroscopes man... gyroscopes.
Lol
Then you're either going to have it heavier than a human-operated bike, or unmanned, and why would you ever want that.
Easier said then done dude. Plus, the wheels are only gyroscopic while rotating at a decent speed.
And there's the fact that Yamaha made a motorcycle riding robot.
That was one of the best “amateur” car/motorcycle reviews I’ve ever seen.
this is my 3rd bike, and i’m glad i waited.
I am 16 and I own a 2005 R6. I know I am not responsible enough to ride something with that much power. But I still love it!
Good point , always adapt to conditions in traffic/road.
Eh when ya do go down its more of a just get back on keep going

Yamaha discontinued the R6 for the street and replaced it with the R7 - waaay more manageable, more forgiving and easier to daily. But the legend of the R6 will live forever
The intro to this video is EXACTLY the same kind of conversations/advice I've been having w/ experienced Motorcyclists; they all told me *NOT* to get an R6 as a first bike....mainly, because of the non-linear powerband.

This was my first bike... was a mistake... didn't crash, but 6 years after selling... I'm now riding a Honda Monkey 125 with 9.5 bhp - and loving every minute!
Sadly I have to start on a 125, but quite happy in the end because it has learned me how to ride better than a bike like this ever will :)
Interesting that you emphasize the usable low end, when among supersports this bike has a reputation for having no torque but crazy top end power.
It has the same acceleration as a Honda Civic at lower revs. That’s perfect for commuting.
@Morning Sun Sparkles Dew on fresh grass lmao
@Morning Sun Sparkles Dew on fresh grass I flexed a few teens. It's kinda weird when you find out that you're older than their parents and it's a little embarrassing when those parents find out you've been flexing the shit out of their daughter for the past month. I live in a small town too. I figured out the key is to never look the parents in the eye if that happens. It's only happened once so far

More like your average Yamaha owner. At least in my experiences.
so the average Yamaha owner in the us is like the average Kawasaki owner in France. Interesting.

I remember watching this video 4 yrs ago before I started riding, and it only made me want to start on a 600 even more. I learned that "keeping your inner bro in check" was harder than I thought lol.
$5,000 for an 05 R6? Great. I have one. 2nd owner. In PRISTINE condition. I'll sell it for $5,000, right now.
Jeremy H. OBO ? 😎
more like $2000 lol most bikes under 2008 sell for 3000 or less
BrianShaggy074 bikes like the gsxr 600/Honda 600rr 2006-2008 still sell round 3-5.2k max r6 r semi cheap, but it all depends on miles, 10k and the drop pretty well (from what I’ve been seeing in my area, in Cali it’s another story.)
Michael Powell here in Chicago bikes are cheap af, miles don't matter much because I've seen bikes with less than 10k look and sound like shit than ones with 50k
I'm picking one up for $3300 clean tittle, new tires, chain, sprocket, and only 7,404 miles
"One speed down, five up. ONE DICK DOWN, FIVE UUUUUUGHGHGH I see you eyeballin' me!!!"
This video was odly sexual towards the 600 but I was lowkey into it😂
Nothing odd or low key about it. Its sex on wheels
How do you feel about a fox body mustang review Mr. Regular?
yeah. I'd like to see one of those too
i thought for sure there would be one in season 9, but they ended up reviewing the Sn95
ugh,.. an auto v-6.. though I guess that's the most regular, common mustang out there.
they should do both, seeing as how they're different cars
he did a fox body thunderbird if that counts
Got a CBR600RR as a “first big bike” aged 19 in 2010. Only just replaced it, downsized to a Ninja 400 as was so tired of the torture of commuting into the city on the CBR. With less than 500miles on the Ninja I can already tell that if I’d initially got something like it as my first bike I’d definitely be a better rider than I am now.
It's weird. You say you are a car guy first, but you only ever go into numbers when it's a bike.
I'm a car guy... but I'm a bike lover. Mr. Regular is like me in a way, I guess
Cars and bikes are both beautiful machines that each uniquely define my love for the open road.
Yeah, I really wished he went into the numbers during the Dodge Caravan Review :(

I’ve had a r6 for 2 years, my first bike. Never been down and it’s an absolutly stunning bike
Same story now?
I like telling ppl “be scared of the bike” it’ll help them not to push it bc they’re too afraid to
Yep, first bike at 19. I made it 2 years before I overshot a turn and flipped it in a ditch. Still miss it.
My sister's first bike was an R6. She loved it to death. Not everyone who buys one is as stupid as Regular...
Fuck yourself. People who started on a 250, are 1000% better rider than you.
Seeing how I have never ridden a motorcycle before, nor do I even know how to ride one, that is hardly an insult. If my math is correct, 1000% x zero skill = zero skill...
brilliant! LOL
Well I've ridden many faster bikes and i agree with you.

so tiny so much power SO TINY SO MUCH POWER
Except this time is not a joke or an exaggeration. This engine is N/A and makes around 215hp/litre
Best power/displacement in a N/A engine in competiton? F1 used to make around 850-900hp with 3000cc V10 engines so 300hp/litre
Bikes weigh less than F1 cars too.
It's 600CC.
600/6 = 100CC
124/6 = 20.6HP per 100CC
100CC X 10 = 1000CC(To make it a litre)
20.6HP X 10 = 206HP Per Litre He was 8HP off.
Looks like you're the "fucking idiot" here buddy.
Fletcher Thank you, man. Some people do not read comments even though reading is a must to use this part of RUclips
5:15 going less than the speed limit on an R6, amazing self control.
I started on a zx6r 🤷🏽♂️

HAHAHAHAHA Coach Damien "The Second Amendment" Edwards

When you said leigh valley hospital I kinda shit myself LMAOO I live in Monroe county!!
Anyone who says small displacement bikes arent fun in their own way dosent enjoy motorcycling, they just enjoy going fast...two very different things
