Don't mind my sweaty back guys. It was a scolding hot day and I was wearing pretty thick, non-perforated leathers lol. And we stayed in that parking lot for a couple hours. Thanks again Mr. Regular for coming down. It was a pleasure meeting you! Really enjoyed this vid haha.
Brooo his old stuff is way more BROOOOO. His. Old. Stuff. Aka. I got here before youuu. Aka. I'm here first. Urrrgggghhhhhhh. I'm so hipster I knew Regular Car Review before Regular Car Review knew Regular Car Review. #first
Ducati is love, Ducati is life. Also, I never understood guys who leave their timing cover off. You're leaving a very critical piece of your engine, that is easily damaged by water and oil, open to the elements. Yes, it looks cool, but it's pretty fucking stupid from a practical standpoint.
You'd think going out and getting a high temperature acryllic cover wouldn't be prohibitively expensive. That way you get the protection with the visual.
I wear the leathers 95% of the time. With jeans on your leg still gets no where near the belt. But the spinning clutch does act as a good leg message at red lightlmao, and it doesn't scuff up the pants either.
Rizoma makes an acrylic cover for the timing belt but its around $250. Also the 999 R model has vent scoopts on both timing covers to get air in to increase longevity of the belts and keep it running cooler, which is another advantage of running an open cover.
Mr. Car Reviews, I really like the motorcycle episodes, I know nothing about bikes and I'm enjoying learning what you have to say. Keep up the good work!
This guy pairs the most informative motorcycle content, with a sense of humor I can actually respect and appreciate! Thanks man. Keep it up! Not a car guy but the wit is making me learn about cars.
the 999 has always been my dream bike. it was the bike i grew up knowing it was over powered in all the Midnight club games. and still I think it's the most attractive bike i've seen. even with this headlights, still it's what i grew up seeing. it was the equivalent of the R34 in Grand Turismo to me.
Camhin1 in America RVs are given an exception to the vehicle weight limit on our licenses. We can drive as heavy a motorhome as we can but we can't drive anything heavier than a van.
It would probably really expensive to go about this, even if he just got a permit, he'd need to get commercial insurance. It would be pretty badass though.
Stacked headlights make it look like one of the things from Neon Genesis Evangelion, side by side like something ridiculous and live action from the 80s.
Italian superbikes are by far some of the most sexiest things on the face of this earth !!!! And you can always get a good look of one on the back of a tow truck :P
leksasdf We have one with over 25k miles of strictly track miles (999s , ti rods, the works.) with out doing any more then belt changes and inspecting the valves. one of our most reliable track bikes.
If a $6k (about current market) price on a near perfect low mileage bike is expensive, you should not have anything from Italy in your collection (bikes or otherwise)
Jay Leno addressed this. People drive Italian cars/bikes expecting them to be as reliable. But doing that is what causes them to be unreliable. Jay says he warms up his Countach a few MINUTES before actually driving it, and it has been reliable for him.
I honestly love those headlights... but I'm not a huge Ducati guy. I need to learn more about euro bikes. And RCR needs to teach me. MOAR BIKE REVIEWS.
The 999 has to be one of the longest seat-to-handlebars production bikes ever. You feel like you’re reaching into the next time zone on this thing. And the mirrors are ridiculously narrow. Still, I think it’s stunning. I’d never own and ride one, but I can still appreciate it.
Is it weird that I prefer the more alien headlight designs over the typical angry eyes looking ones? Sure, they look good, but there's something great about a bike with no "face" to look at. It seems more aggressive, more mechanical, more efficient. Like it's entirely focused on performance, efficiency, and nothing else. I suppose that's why I like the way the new GSXRs look.
My "I really effed up, can you bail me out" moto mechanic still has his old 999 practice bike from his days with Ducati. A 916 also lingers nearby in his garage. The 999 almost has a light ray falling upon it from no where.. its just a tad brighter than anything else in his shop. The little race bling bits each fighting for your attention... the smell of leaded race gas only growing stronger as you approach it. A 999 is a god among the mortals of its era.
This bike was my first two-wheeled crush. Saw it in TDU and fell in love. Now I have a bit of a thing for Ducati, MV Agusta and Italian bikes in general.
Man, I'd been thinking Regular mellowed out and lost his touch, but then in the last few weeks he comes back all DICK JOKES, and now everything is fine again
Yes, another Ducati review! One more reason people didn't like it was a lack of rear mono swingarm. Even though this was lighter/firmer. Front end all aero, well thought out bike.
You often talk about how these bikes are bad for beginners (which they are). My question is, why not ride some good beginner bikes? I feel a Ninja 300 or R3 falls more in line with the "Regular" theme anyway.
Dude, just bought myself a '83 CX650C Custom. Thing has its engine facing the wrong way. Freaky looking enough that a lot of people turn them in into cafe racers. So of course I'm being perverse and putting that thing back to stock.
@lakaiyak yea that guy came to my channel and tried to troll on one of my videos but he didn't even bother to look at my video on the track. Don't know why these people even waste their time typing all that nonsense lol.
Holy shit i only recently found out you were a bike guy and absorbed all your old bike reviews... even the 25 minutes of you rambling on from bed about all the random bikes you owned... but this, i was there, with you, holding your balls and mine while you described working up through the gears, just to keep them from exploding. hats off Mr. R, we've shared something intimate whether you felt it too or not.
This was great! Absolutely love Ducatis! My dad has owned the 998, 1098, and now rides and races the 1198 Panigale. They are amazing bikes and truly the best for racing. I'm actually going to buy a 748 here soon to race with him. (Don't actually have a bike license, therefore, I can only race my bikes) The V-Twin is an amazing sounding and performing engine. And as always, Mr. Regular has the information and the best jokes to go with the bike or car in question. Lol. Love the videos!
I don't wanna die a shriveled up prune in a retirement village, i wanna die going way faster than humans are meant to, and then fucking up and suddenly stopping...
This is my post watching video comment, like I said I ride a 749, and I love the two stacked headlights, it's funny that you used the R6 front as a comparison because I love how different my Duc is to everything else. All bikes developed that crows beak intake in the mid to late 2000's and I dislike it, look at the R6 after the 2005 you reviewed. It's like they played Tetris and forgot a piece! I love my 749 because she's unique. Someday maybe I'll be able to afford the bigger cylinders and then be a 999 but until then, this is a bike I'll never sell. I submitted my 749 for review as well so if your ever passing through your welcome to come by and see the differences with the smaller bike :)
Another issue people had with the styling of the 999 is that it didn't have the signature single-sided swingarm of all the other Ducati's previously, perhaps due to a conventional double sided set-up offers the same amount of rigidity for less weight, a benefit for racing. A lot of people got pissed so they returned back to single sided for the 1098.
Okay I feel like this is a good place to express my opinion on the Ninja H2R. WHO, THE FUCK WOULD EVER BUY ONE OF THOSE??? IT HAS 300HP! WHERE DOES THIS, WHY? MichaelV what are those pants?! I need them. Just bought the bike, now I need those pants
Dainese leather pants. That color scheme is a few years old so it would be hard to find them, maybe on ebay

I've seen tons of people do it on the forums. I've had it like that for a year now with no problems at all.
Do you ever scuff up your pants on the belt or do you wear ATGATT leather?
You'd think going out and getting a high temperature acryllic cover wouldn't be prohibitively expensive. That way you get the protection with the visual.

Because they have all the power and ride comfort of an electric skateboard with a baseball bat knob-up for a seat.
