@@MikeB128 I have a Mk6a helmet for sale (i am in the UK), the helmet that was issued between the Mk6 and Mk7. Would you be interested in purchasing one for ballistic testing?
I couldn’t believe when I’d used the Mk6 and got issued the Mk7 to go to Afghan. The weight difference and how much more comfortable and practical to use and wear was unreal.
I've been looking forward to this one! And yes, the reserves are still using this. I'm in the middle of waiting to try selection again, so I can join my local reserve unit.
I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I have seen this video before. I had thought this helmet performed poorly but I belive I was thinking of the ballistic nylon helmet that you tested.
Can confirm they don’t issue them to reserve Units anymore, was handed a revision helmet still in the plastic packaging when I joined my Local Unit last year
I have a mk6 I got years ago at a yard sale kinda thing, unlike this they appear to be more like a hard plastic helmet with the ballistic nylon inside, this definitely looks like an improvement by far.
this was an amazing test result. I'm so glad I have one of these. rhe question I always had is how protective is the mk6a? The mk6a has kevlar added to the ballistic nylon. I have 2 of them, but they r brand new condition and I don't want to shoot them. if you come across a used mk6a, please grab it and test it. Only a Mike B and Devin K test can adequately answer the question of protection.
Anecdotal but I've heard they are much much better, like the performance of them nearly matches the mk 7 here, but they're still heavy unergonomic monsters
I hear a lot of people saying the virtus helmet is essentially an ECH, well not really, having one myself it’s actually modelled of the CG634 shell, and the liner is unlike anything military’s are issuing at the moment, it’s an interesting liner that’s quite simple in its mechanism but allows for on the go adjustments from a dial on the back, the only similarity it has to an ECH is the material and rim profile, however even the rim profile is not quite the same as an ECH, if you’re interested in seeing the helmet in detail I could send through a video of mine.
@@MikeB128 if your interested in obtaining a virtus helmet, I’d be happy to trade for an ECH if you have any left of course, for me, getting virtus helmets is not too difficult, however an ECH is almost impossible. I have a size medium that fits up to 61 head size I believe, I’m a 58cm circumference and I have to adjust the dial to max to secure it.
@@MikeB128 There must come a point beyond which there is no value in making a helmet 'more resistant', because the imparted energy will kill the soldier, anyway.
@@rcfokker1630 2 things can kill you if the bullet can NOT penetrate the helmet. 1 the helmet deforming into your skull, and a cracked skull is much easyer to treat then a piercing brain injury . 2 sufficient impact breaking your neck . 2nd is unlikely because of newtons 3rd law. All good. It's "Kelly Green" but it turned out more cartoon-ish than anything. I'm sure if you got the exact stuff Brent did, it'd turn out cooler and a little darker.
Rim job mike
Have definitely had better days of shooting. If you watch some of the more recent tests, you'll see.

Mk7
@@shimonbrown9590 no the Mk6 is pretty old it is worse in basicly every was: ergonomics, weight, protection
MK6 is terrible, MK6A is clunky but very protective, the MK7 is the same as the MK6A but much more comfortable@@shimonbrown9590

I thought so.
Since you made this video the price of these helmets in the UK skyrocketed

I'm issued a regs standard helmet, the brand new mkdel. pretty sure your unit aren't pulling their weight if they're giving you old kit

I'd rather have a helmet than just a video. If you have any leads on where to get a size Large, let me know.
It took Brits 100 years to figure out the stahlhelm was the better design lol
The Revision Cobra which is the one tbe Brits use is same material which is UHMPE but it’s Revisions own shape slightly different from the ACH and ECH

I understand that the rounds did not penetrate, but would the impacts have been fatal or incapacitating?
Hard to say. I'm sure none of them would have felt wonderful.

Hi, do you know of a helmet that will stop a Ak47 round or rifle round in general?
Watch the rest of the series......
The ECH can but you are likely to be horrifically injured and possibly die from the deformation
Have you tested or plan to test the Mk 6A helmet? I know you tested the Mk 6 but I am interested in the 6A version.
I didn't see them on the store
This video was made in 2019, please read the description.
From what I understand, the MoD has discontinued disposal of the Mk7 via surplus, so they are almost impossible to get hold of now.
Have you tried a .357 Sig vs a traditional. 357?
Was this a reshoot or reupload I cant remember
Someone knows how to read descriptions...

Good durability against pistol rounds, but no mercy against rifle rounds.
