Please do more of this. I really enjoyed it. I think there are many people who would like to listen to your view on how we should appreciate these races and events.
That was a fantastic conversation and to learn more about the details of the race and the competition. My worry is also as you said....the boats being as fragile as they are, there may be no competitors left to finish the race. A big gamble for the ocean race.
Great insight! But also... I miss the thrills that the VO rockets delivered. Boats like MarMostro ware pleasing my eyes where the IMOCAs ar... like boxes. I'm hoping that this edition of TOR will change my perspective but I'm afraid it won't be an easy task...
You are of course absolutely correct - I was getting confused with Benjamin Dutreux' participation in the last Vendee Globe which was in another earlier Hugo Boss from 2007
Great chat on the Imoca Szene. I really enjoyed myself, having a laugh and some extra Information. As an Imoca fangirl I heard a lot of my thoughts Spoken out loud. Malizia might be a ugly boat, but Boris is a very prudent sailor. As for Kevin, well it' s Kevin. 😏 Well, I too believe a good few of the Imoca Skippers sitting in Brittany biting their nails Wishing to be there and watching very closely how the new boats are perfoming. I am looking forward to more of your brilliant Show. Thanks, from Germany
Bottom-Line! Safely "Around"- FINISH The Game! Mahalo and Arigato Matt-Sama & Andy-San, with Your Intimate, and Fun Pre-Race 'run-down' with 2023 The Ocean Race; with both IMOCA's & VOR65's Formats, and Joint Venues. Finish The Race as Safe and Efficiently that is Possible; ? Are the Safety-Kites & Wings?! "Mandintory" again part of the Safety-Autonomous Sustainable-Reliable Systems Designated with each Team. FttW with KISaS-S... Keep Pulling The Apparent, and Enjoy da "Glide" *DolFunHeart* aloha nui kakou.
Imocas are all about the gear. VO65s are all about the sailing. Imoca class will be won by the boat with the least amount of technical problems or damage. VO65 class will be won by the crew which sailed best.
Good video but regarding the example of commercial aircraft using autopilots, the key difference is those aren't racing so any technology that can improve safety, comfort and efficiency is to be applauded. For a multi-crew sailing race I'm not such a fan.
My bet is 11th hr is the first to break That being said I hope all the teams makes it back to shore safe Tho just a bit of advice eco green sustainable ect is not and will never be part of racing but advancing tech and developing systems of the future is Bring back the atf sponsors and stop preaching about sustainability while building new boats for every race
This race has become a mess. The last edition was amazing to watch. Big call on IMOCAs for 2026 as I do not think they are the future. They will be replaced by the offspring of the foiling offshore monohull FLYING NIKKA, who truly does foil unlike like the IMOCAs who drag their arse while doing a wheelie.
sorry guys , but talking about sailing is even worst than talking about football , don't stand there and jab about what could and what should but get on a proper ship and go !!
wow, for the 1st time in the races history, the main boats (65's) aren't going around the world? bullsh*t. I didn't wait all this time for that crap. I don't give a sh*t about the IMOC's in the Ocean Race. F the auto pilot.
my last year watching. I haven't used this word before, this race starting getting woke in the last race, and moving forward, the race will be called, 'The Woke Ocean Race'. thank God for the previous races, which I will regularly watch. I became a fan a few years ago and now I'm not.

All in one take? Great insight Matt, keep up the good work.
Great discussion guys!
Great chat to be part with!
Excellent video which makes it far more interesting to follow the race
Enjoyed that! First start that I've missed in many editions.
What’s not to like about this show, so much info I feel like I am ready to go out on one of those imocas!
Excellent review…first Volvo/ocean race Alicante start I have missed……hope there will be a few boats left in Newport! thanks for the update! Andrew

How did I not see you guys! I was looking for you today along with enjoying the atmosphere. It’s my first sailing event and I loved it!
Cheers that was fun and informative
Matt. Guyot only did one lap with Alex in 2016, then it became the 11th Hour training boat

@@PlanetSailOnline too many ex-Boss boats to keep track of! Great show
You are a welcome voice in round the world racing. Would love to hear you commentate the Americas cup with PJ Monty? Or even the SailGp shenanigans.

Matt, why only boats in this edition of the ocean race and why re all thew big names not doing it?

Is there an app for the race?
The Ocean Race in App store
All of these boats have at least cross the Atlantic twice!
old spec masts, ocean foils in a polluted ocean, it will be lucky if 50% of the fleet make it around without incident
