Back in the late seventies, I worked in an engineering department for a major company. Our mechanical engineer started playing with the basic mechanics shown here but powered it with air. It had a wire feed mechanism that let you stack cans I designed and built the electronics to control it and work the air valves, all from scrap parts in the lab. He fired it up and it smashed them like a machine gun, you only had to keep the feed full.
If you do this in Sweden you get zero money, we have recycle machines in every supermarket we're you get money for every pet bottle and cans you feed in to the machine, they have to be in the same condition as when you bought it, there is a bar code on every can and bottle that the machine scan.
Where I'm from in texas, they pay 50 cents a pound, a pound is made up of about 32 to 35, 12 once cans, so basically each can is worth one penny and half .015. So most people don't even bother recycling them, they just throw it away to the garbage
The project is good. But how do you get rid of leftover liquid from cans during the collection and storage process until compaction? that cause a lot of dirt and bad smells?
Only in emerging markets. I used to collect cans with granny. We used to step on them to make them compact. Then take it to the metal recyclers and get paid money for them cans.
I like how this made I left a message before I wish I can make my candy crusher similar to the and have it mounted to a sturdy wooden skin and melted to that but my own unique way which Square do or around like a round cylinder or a square you think around would do I'm just trying to get in an advice I like your ideal but I want mine to be similar but a little different
When recycling began here in NC it was a family thing. My parents & I would walk along the roads & anywhere else to pick up cans. Racing events, sporting events & also local bars. The cans found in the ditches sometimes were filled with mud, dirt or any kind of sediment that found its way into the can. We didn't take the time to wash these cans, we were just doing a service to recycle & get paid for it. I bought my first car with can money & rebuilt the engine. And yes, some people do try to add weight to them by adding sand, dirt or small rocks prior to crushing.
this just seam strange to me. in Sweden we have can recycling. if you bring your can to a supermarket there is a machine there that accepts cans and you get 1 Swedish krona for each can. that is about 0.1 American Dollars. The money comes from the extra fee that every can cost at the supermarket. this applies to plastic bottles here as well, the same machine accepts and sorts and crush them by reading the barcodes.
His system is better because he makes money on his cans, you do not. In fact you spend more time and money bringing them back and feeding them in one by one so the company makes the money off your work.
