fun fact: yung nabanggit mong "concha" o bintana na may capiz shells ay one of the distinct original features of filipino architecture. kung may katulad man tayo nyan, konting-kunti lang sa india at sri lanka. pero yung "concha" is endemic sa philippine culture. most of the remaining architectural elements sa bahay na bato at antillian eh puro influenced na ng chinese, spanish at mexican.

The word Persiana to describe this louver type windows attach on ancestral houses of the rich it was believe that a house that have a Persiana is a well to do family my grand aunt's have these and they are the only family in the town that have persiana and they were the a family of the upper class during the Spanish era

One more unique feature of these ancestral houses is the bolada. The wrapped around open corridor that serves as helpers passage way. For me it is a brilliant feature cause it can also serve as fire exit, added air catcher and added layer of security when incorporated with persiana or steel grilles
As beautiful and nostalgic as Filipino ancestral houses are, no one could ever build one here in California because it would never pass the building codes.😭
