glad to hear your doing well. i got tapped out march 1st and have almost 140 gal. made last year my first boil was on march 13th. one run was for six days with vac. had a freeze sugar went up to 2 percent. if we get right temps. should be a good year.
It’s amazing ,sugar making goes from 1 job to another, collecting , RO ing , boiling , it’s just run run run. Sure is fun though. On your 7” press are you running 3/4 hoses ? We are running good up here in the Mt of VT. Good freeze up is on its way.
Hey the videos are awesome! We are learning a lot. We run a small sugar shack in Winslow Maine. Do you have any contact information that you would share, for some questions…like what size is that little Honda pump??!
Maple syrup goes great on everything accept….(I’ll let Nate Bissell finish the quote since it’s his lol). Did you all have a lot of run weather this past fall? I was wondering if there is a correlation between late fall freeze thaw (run weather) & if it has any effect on late winter sugar content.
we were very wet last summer and well this winter too. Last season we were dry the summer before and the sugar content was up. But who knows what is really causing it
I have a quick question, I have about 180 taps on 1 inch mainline and I use a sap guzzler and pull 26 inches of vaccum but I never get even a half a gallon of sap per day on a good day, I was wondering if my 1 inch mainline line is to big and that is why I’m not getting as much sap?

all we are missing is the cold nights right now, well and sugar content

It's 1 in hose 3/4 would work though. The weather looks like great sugar making but I think it might be a little to late for us.
We finally getting some sap happy days the last few days here in western Maine
It has been good but we need more cold nights for sure

207-671-4262 It is a 1" pump.
Thanks!
How can you tell if you have a leak by opening and closing your ball valves?
You will hear a woosh of air as the vacuum has leaked off on the woods side.
What size is your canner and bottler? How often do you bottle?
It is 18 gallon. I bottle as needed in the off season and after every boil during the season if it is not going in a barrel
Why is your reverse osmosus machine in a seperate closet? Im not a maple syrup maker
It needs to be heated so it doesn’t freeze and the sugar house is not heated all the time

Call me 207-671-4262 I have a few questions before I can answer
@@dunnfamilymaple okay, we are just finishing up our season now so I could give you a call early next week it that works
At this point next week would be the best I am getting ready for maple weekend
How much filter aid do you put per gal.
It depends. Probably 10 cups to 15 gallons
Ok, thanks. we are having some trouble with the press
@@me41613 the answer is always add more when it filter like crap
@@me41613 call me I might be able to help over the phone
What is the white powder you put into the syrup?
It is filter aid that is filtered out in the filter press.
You're not alone..after a 1st run of 2.3-2.5 everything since has been 1.5-1.7...not good when you only run 125 taps😖
Started at 1.9% now at 1.2% in lower Michigan
If we can get a few good cold nights things will come up a little but I think we will be boiling .75% before its over
Another great video! Anybody reading this, please consider giving a like and subscribing, you won't be disapointed!
