Glad it worked out. I know that supercharger complicated everything.Great job explaining the CCV valves.
Nice one Brian. Your a class act.
wyattoneable thank!
stock CCV are useless in old bimmers, i've seen many times people replacing whole system with new OEM parts, and it still pushing oil into intake. I'm from Europe and owner of E46, also couple friends owns them, best solution for us was to throw stock CCV system out and put oil catch can instead. With oil catch can engine runs much better, comparing with new CCV and also its a way cheaper way to solve problem.
It's always a great feeling when you can call a fellow creator and get some help. Brian has a great channel. What? No smoke machine was given to your channel? Man, that's their loss. That little actron worked well for this job. (ha ha) "Jawn" Leek approved.
I should have demonstrated the Scotty cigar method. haha I'm glad the car is fixed and back in my friends arms.
Always nice to watch how science points to where the problem is, even with a small scan tool! I like little scanners, they are much faster for simple tasks.
Simple and precise is good! Take care sir
Nice job walking us through this one Glen. Something how complicated these cars are nowadays. Thanks
Thanks man
Ah the infamous BMW CCV! Great job Glen! I change mine every 5 years as preventative maintenance. It prevents a lot of headaches 😉😂👍
Good idea. Thanks
just get rid of it and put oil catch can. I bet you still get oil in intake
The best part about youtube is the invaluable friends we can call for assistance. I would have dont the same thing and called you. 👍
Ask me whatever you want Steve, sometimes I have a lucky solution. lol
Glen
Excellent videos. I had a 4 door 98 M-3. Fairly easy to work on. It was a sad day I sold it. Working on an 87 Corvette nowadays.
Yes this one is a sedan 4 door. I like the C4's. 😄 My '93 is great
Weird setup. Almost like a catch can type of deal going on there, at least the one on the diagram & dipstick tube . Cool video Glen!
Yes very similar catch can in a stock configuration that never needs to be emptied. The aftermarket super charger inline CCV fuel filter is even more weird to me. Thanks Cuba
Nice job on the trouble shooting and repair. Looks like those hoses were fun to get to. lol,
Holy crap it was tight down there. My hand looked like mince meat for days.
Thumbs up good catch on the Vacuum leak
Thanks man, appreciate it.
Good job man. I was suspecting a MAF when you said it smelled rich.
So was I at first, considering the previous mechanic told the owner it needed to be replaced. My new cell plan says I can call Canada at no extra charge. Email me your number and we can catch up soon.
@@ozzstars_cars Will do bud.
whew, this calls for a beer!
If you insist! 🍺 Always fun to celebrate when it's fixed.
Great work Glen! I would have thought with a vacuum leak the trims would be positive. Nonetheless it’s fixed now.
That's what made things interesting to diagnose.
@@ozzstars_cars the hose was sucked close, so no idle air entered the engine. That's why the engine was running Rich.
The fan boys over on the bimmer forums should be upset with you calling that a beamer. LOL
It should be interesting. lol
@@ozzstars_cars I was gonna complain! Beemer is a motorcylce... bimmer if it's a car.
@@EXOVCDS I try and learn something new everyday. Haha
Ive been chasing this p0170 and my CCV system is actually deleted and vents to atmosphere. Aswell as my dip stick hose. Would getting a breather and capping/winching the oil pan hose fix this? Going to do it regardless lol
Sounds like you have a lot going on there?
My 99 528i started acting weird today after driving quite a bit. Threw these 2 codes and shakes horribly. Loss of all power essentially. Had it towed home and it started right up like nothing happened. Just a little hiccup in the idle. Could it be clogged cats by any chance? They smell horrible under load
What if the CCV is deleted , the branch to the dipstick is blocked off and a catch can installed coming off the valve cover.why would it be popping the codes ?
I know you are planning to replace those vettes with BMWs now😉
LOL, literally. 😄
Cracked vacuum hoses can be difficult .It looks like someone used heater hoses in the past for one repair. Good job.
All ya need is a cigar to find vacuum leaks. Scotty says so. 🤣🤣🤣
Hey quit "stalling" and fix it ;) (Sorry - couldn't resist)
That's also what she said. 🤣 Have a great weekend!
Good day tell me the error code P1519 in BMW E39 m52tu where to look for a fault. Thanks for the early update.
Check the neutral switch circuitry (range sensor). Visually inspect the related wiring harness and connectors. Check for damaged components and look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded connector's pins.
@@ozzstars_cars Thanks I'll check
lmao i got the same codes😭
What kind of vehicle Dan?
@@ozzstars_cars 98 e36 non m3, my rpm’s have been jumping slightly when idling at stop lights and today my car started breaking up. i’ll be checking all my lines tomorrow
them thangs handle like crap good job though
Thanks
I have the same 2 fuel trim code's but with cylinder 4, 5 & 6 misfire. This happens intermittently. My airflow readings seem to be all over the place at idle. Could this indicate a MAF issue?
Have you done a smoke test? Look for a vacuum leak.
@ozzstars_cars not yet as I don't have a equipment. I do have a video of the noise it makes when revving. Almost sounds like a rush of air? This can also be heard when I turn the engine off at the end. The weird part is the codes and misfire only kick in if I let it idle first. Normally if I switch on and drive they don't show, however I do suspect I have reduced power and fuel economy. When the codes and misfire do come then they stay until I turn of and on again

One of your best video's, fantastic.
DiagnoseGlen fixed it again😉
You inspire me Dan! haha That's funny. Thanks man and I appreciate your comment.
Euro cars are odd ducks, I'll tell ya! It's pulling fuel away for a vacuum leak ... but yet it still runs! Pretty sure that's because I have zero understanding of BMW systems. I can't make heads or tails of that! Why does it pull back injector pulse for a lean condition when it should be doing the opposite? 🤔 Must be fun to drive at least with the forced induction. 👍
Hey, we've got the same smoke machine! Think it was $70 on eBay. Better than 4 figures any day! 😁
Nice detective work there, Glen. Don't know how you can find anything under that intake there! Pretty tight quarters.🍻
Yeah it was stft -28 and running richer than hell with a vacuum leak. Crazy. So you have a $70 bong? 🤣
@@ozzstars_cars - 😂🤣😂 Smokes just like one! Not that I would know or anything ... 😁
That hose is proof positive that beamers suck..
Nice work Glen , that is a tough job to find and get to.
It way down deep.
Cool video Glen, you're awesome 👍
👍so are you my friend
@@ozzstars_cars 😁👍
Great video Glen. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Appreciate you stopping by and commenting. Thanks
Glen killing it...good work man!
Thanks Pauly. Do you work on many Euro cars at the shop?
@@ozzstars_cars Not really...I had a Volkswagen MAF issue awhile back; which ended up being a crack in the intercooler throwing a false P0101.
Mostly Domestic & Asian market, but ALOT of GM...🙄
I don't know, I don't mind EURO cars, just tough to get information at times.
Great video Glenn
Thanks Antonio for checking it out.
Suscribed! nice video and great diagnostic!!
Thanks for watching Xavier and taking the time to comment. -Glen
