    As a person suffering from kidney (renal) failure, sauna sessions on non-dialysis days are a literal life saver. Consult with your doctor before using a sauna if you are in my situation. Start off easy and build up your tolerance. Weigh yourself before and after. You'll be amazed. I typically lose almost a gallon of fluid during my prolonged sessions because I retain water unlike individuals with functioning kidneys. Sodium and potassium has been proven to be secreted in sweat so that is helpful in my situation. Before there were dialysis machines, saunas were the only hope for a person with failing kidneys. Be careful. Hopefully this helps someone with similar health problems.

    • @PracticalHealthNow
      @PracticalHealthNow 2 года назад +1

      The human body has almost 3 million sweat glands, through which toxins are effectively removed during sweating in the sauna, especially MERCURY, CADMIUM and LEAD! Therefore, the sauna is a huge help to the kidneys!

      Please do explain have it reduced your dialysis frequency.

    • @SteamyPMcGee
      @SteamyPMcGee Год назад

      @Chinnu J it won't reduce dialysis frequency but it can help people with renal failure feel more comfortable in between sessions. Their kidneys are not able to flush out fluid and waste through the normal route (urine) so having a sweat session can excrete extra fluid through the skin, that could otherwise contribute to oedema or retention.

      The only problem I've found with saunas in the US is that most of them were limited to 140 degrees F. I grew up taking saunas 3+ times a week and it was always above 175F. It was disappointing to find out that these public saunas were set to such low temperatures. They wouldn't even let me sign a waiver so I could turn it up to a respectable temperature.

    Lactic acid is not a toxin. In fact, lactic acid is important. But it is true that some lactic acid is eliminated in perspiration, which is one of the reasons for benefit #6, relieving sore muscles. Lactic acid helps to fuel the muscles, as well as the brain, but during vigorous exercise, lactic acid can build up in the muscles faster than the body can process it. To quote Wikipedia, " During power exercises such as sprinting, when the rate of demand for energy is high, glucose is broken down and oxidized to pyruvate, and lactate is then produced from the pyruvate faster than the body can process it, causing lactate concentrations to rise.... During intense exercise, the respiratory chain cannot keep up with the amount of hydrogen atoms that join to form NADH, and cannot regenerate NAD+ quickly enough" -- which can result in lactic acid buildup and muscle pain.

    I love it anytime talks about the benefits of passive heat therapy, however in the Detox benefits section, you are off. There are no studies showing removal of lactic acid...and as far as the Sodium, you actually have to replenish your sodium levels after sauna sessions. Sodium is your friend. Instead you should have highlighted that sweat is the best vehicle to eliminate things like Cadmium, Aluminium, Lead, BPA's which are a direct cause of inflammation. KEEP CALM, HEAT UP🔥. Cheers.

      It's the only time I can tolerate a cold shower. and cold showers are supposed to have their own health benefits. So add that to the list of benefits of a sauna.

      As a Finn, I took my first bath in Sauna, and I swear to God (Ukko) that I will take my last.
      In Ancient Finland, people were born in Saunas, bathed their first time there, and died there and washed there for the last trip. If a house was built, a Sauna was the first building to be built. People lived there and there was prayers to löyly (unique Finnish word for the steam produced from Sauna).

    Going to the sauna after drinking doesn't reduce the effects of alcohol in your body, actually you amplify them due to the increased heart rate, blood pressure and hydration, so that been said, i don't have to tell you about not using a sauna during a hangover, seeing that a hangover is caused by dehydration

    When he said that sauna's get rid of lactic acid faster, it only made sense to me that it would also reduce muscle soreness as well! Since lactic acid is the byproduct of training and the cause of the muscle soreness pain.
