Today we'll take a look at the evolution of the best Mario & Luigi Brother Moments. I hope you enjoy this new video and please comment your favorite moment! :)
I think he was laughing because of how funny Mario looked. I think that’s just Nintendo reminding us that at the end of the day, they are still brothers
@@SixtyFourJr yeah, he’s laughing so much he’s crying. It’s common when something is really funny to you. Notice his posture: he’s constantly arching back and forth while pointing at Mario. If he was crying of how happy he was to see him, he would get on his knees, run to hug Mario, etc. they way he points and laughs clearly suggests he’s laughing at Mario. And he does this for the same reason Mario stomps his foot and Luigi’s foot in power tenis, because they are brothers. And if you have a brother, you know that you do not pass up on an opportunity to laugh or get back at your brother
Moments like these are why I will always appreciate the Mario and Luigi series. Seeing how they are almost completely nonverbal, yet still have so many smaller moments to let you know that these brothers tease each other and love each other.
Pretty much how real siblings relationship works, the older you get, you and sibling become less competitive with each other and more supporting to each other.
Ok but this is actually the most accurate depiction of siblings in media. The older one (mario) is always getting the attention while the youngest (luigi) is in their shadow. The youngest is usually only recognized as the oldest one's sidekick, but their so much more than that. Nintendo's a genius.
0:58 when i first saw this scene i interpreted it as luigi laughing at how silly mario looked with his head in the picture frame, but seeing it again a few years later and seeing him crying makes me realize the scene is much more wholesome ok look 7 year old me was an idiot
Is like when you are so happy because you passed some really dark things for ome specific thing and you finally get it (Luigi a man who get scared so easily having to explore a haunted mansion just to have his brother back) He was so happy that everything just...makes sense and you feel like a weight was lifted off your shoulders
Oh heck no. In LM3 he just pats him on the back. I think the most wholesome, the one that literally gave me goosebumps, is LM1. Luigi is literally crying to see his brother again, and then just laughs at the way Mario looks. That's true brotherly love imo. You love your brother, but you can't help but laugh at each other's expense every now and then. That was like the most human moment I've ever seen Luigi in
y'see, i don't know why people always say that Mario's a bad brother, because there are plenty of moments where Mario shows love, appreciation and care for Luigi. a lot of people point to that scene in "Mario Power Tennis" as proof that he's a bad brother, when first of all, he only did something like that once, and second of all, he's probably just teasing Luigi, as brothers do. Mario's not mean, and he loves Luigi a whole bunch!!!
@@KadesKove You mean in NSMB Wii? the one where the door closes before luigi enters? The door literally shuts by itself, it wasn't Mario closing it. Mario payed attention to the princess, so he wouldn't have noticed it closing by itself.
Sometimes those two-like all siblings, twins especially-go through periods where they’re not happy unless they’re mad at each other and/or trying to beat the snot out of each other. Mario will do anything for his younger twin bro, and Luigi def feels the same way-Luigi is normally a timid, nervy fellow, but when push comes to shove, he’ll face his fears and fight to help/rescue his big bro!

8:14 There’s another Mario & Luigi moment before. Let me explain it: In the intro, as you know, there was a portal in the Kingdom and started to suck up everyone. Everyone tried to hang on something. Mario did nothing in the beginning, but when he saw Luigi flying, he immediately came for trying to save him, but failed. Mario came in the vortex to find everyone, but only found Luigi. He tried to rescue him again, but failed again. Later, in the beginning of the chapter 1-5, Mario heard a familiar voice calling him. He stopped and tried to find where it came from and a few seconds later, he heard the voice screaming his name again. He immediately guessed Luigi was in trouble.
The fact that everyone forgets who Luigi is or doesn't remember his name isn't canon, but it's used in so many spin-offs that most of people consider it true.

9:40 that "I hope you make lotsa spaghetti" never fails to make me laugh, it was everywhere in SMG4's old videos. Anyways, the brotherhood between Mario and Luigi is the sweetest thing ever. Brothers never leave brothers behind, that's for sure.
Here's my Pitch for a Luigi's Mansion movie Opening scene is King Boo getting word of the Mario Brothers, and sending Boos to spy on them. By now, the brothers are firmly established in the Mushroom Kingdom as the Mario Brothers, and when we first see them now, they’re putting up fliers offering their services. But immediately, we can see that when someone stops to talk to them, everyone seems to be gravitating towards Mario. Which is fine, and even expected, as people know him as the guy that saved the Kingdom. But it’s not long before Luigi’s insecurities rear up their ugly heads, to the point where he feels like he can’t even tell Mario about them. What insecurities exactly? The one’s you’d expect: only being known as Mario’s brother, or the guy that got trapped in a cage that needed Mario to rescue him. Which get worse when someone makes an offhand comment that gets under his skin. It’s essentially a parallel to what their dad said to Mario: about holding Mario back now that he’s a hero. But here’s the secret: those comments don’t really bother him. It’s already been established that Luigi has been Mario’s #1 fan since before they even knew the Mushroom Kingdom existed. If people gush over Mario more, they’re just repeating what he’s known since they were babies. Why would that kind of talk start to bother him now? No. For Luigi’s insecurities to be as bad as we’re being shown, it has to go deeper than that. The real fear is that one day MARIO will see that, and just decide he’s done looking out for him. You thought he was heartbroken when trapped in the cage? NOTHING compared to what happens upon thinking of that. However long that takes, everything comes to a head when Luigi gets the notice about winning the mansion in the mail, and he decides to go check it out. Whether it’s because he suspects something is up or he’s too distracted by his insecurities, does not matter. What does is that he decides to go alone to prove he’s not just Mario’s little brother. And I will emphasize this right here and now: Luigi does not blame Mario for ANY of this. He loves Mario the same as he always has, if not more, and it’s that exact love why he’s so scared of losing him. He shrugs off Mario’s questions as to why he’s going alone, and leaves. Which then prompts Mario to check out the notice himself, and after some research, realizes Luigi’s about to walk into a trap, and runs off to try and stop him. While all this is happening, we need two different sets of flashbacks, wherever they make sense: flashbacks of them growing up, to show how their relationship changes into what it is now. And snippets of a more recent one, with Mario telling him he’s moving to the Mushroom Kingdom, offering him a chance to come with; Luigi panicking because a) he’s still traumatized by what happened, and b) he’s scared of losing his brother again if he says no. Eventually Luigi makes it to the mansion, and it plays out like it did in the game. I trust Nintendo’s ability to make sure it stays as true to the game as it can be. It’s still about getting rid of the painting ghosts and all that, but keeps coming back to the insecurities. And if there's a way to add their Twin Sense to the story, preferably when Luigi finds something of Mario's, that would be AWESOME. Mario, on his side, is not just trapped in a painting. The painting itself is essentially a pocket dimension where he can see everything that’s going on, as one of King Boo’s cruel torture tactics, but no matter how loud he screams or yells, Luigi can’t see or hear him unless in the throne room, because that’s where the physical painting actually is. It's revealed the Boos had been observing Luigi for weeks to figure out the best way to mess with him, and while they usually just do what we’ve seen them do in the games, they tried something different because Luigi essentially did all the work for them, and enhanced his insecurities to lure him to the mansion to trap him there. And of course, when he faces King Boo, he gets hit where it really hurts: the fallout of all those flashbacks: every time Luigi got hurt or was picked on, and Mario stepped in. Or only Moving to the Mushroom Kingdom to make Mario happy. King Boo laughing at him and saying how he’s so weak he can’t even fight his own battles, no wonder Mario got taken so easily. Luigi starts to believe it, maybe even starts crying, I won’t object, but then he hears Mario banging on the painting, making him look up. Whatever Mario says here is meant to get Luigi to look back again, and we see a flashback montage. Sure, Mario stepped in at first, but when Luigi got older, he started doing the same. And even had Mario teach him to defend himself, despite the fact that it scared the shit out of Mario every time he fell or got hurt. The very last flashback is of when Mario finally made him talk about moving to the Mushroom Kingdom, and Luigi admitted how scared he was about the whole idea. And you guessed it, Mario gives a bona fide Good Big Brother speech that ends with another Bro Hug. And THAT is what gives Luigi the strength to get back up and kick King Boo’s ass straight back into the painting where he belongs. Keep the game’s ending in there, or the fans will riot, then give us a Proud Big Brother moment after they’re home safe. Then it ends with them hanging up more fliers all over the Mushroom Kingdom, but now we see there’s a new thing added to their services: Boo Hunting. Oh yeah. And to keep with the first movie's continuity: soundtrack only has music relevant to, not released, the year the game came out. This would be November 2001, so use your imagination.
Partners in Time has some of the most adorable instances of the baby bros and mario bros ever, *change my mind* Also Matpat, it's hard to hear you over the sound of the adorable brother moments over here
AND, if you REALLY think about it, it also tells you that baby Mario knew adult Luigi was his little brother. Which means he knows him no matter WHAT he looks like or what he wears. You cannot tell me he didn't know Mr. L was Luigi.
Basically they both save each other, its so cute how they hug each other, i do LOVE to see them being wholesome. Also why people say mario is a bad brother? Didnt they ever saw whenever luigi is scared mario always the one calm him down, also sibling messed around and talk shit about each other is normal, simply luigi and mario just messed around with each other, but they still cared for each other
Why didn’t you include one of my fave Mario & Luigi moments in this vid-a scene from Bowser’s Inside Story? The part-very early on-where Mario rescues Luigi by pulling him out of an amoeba-like thingy, and Luigi weeps hysterically in Mario’s arms?! Seriously, it’s one of the most Oscar-worthy moments in BIS-and certainly a scene worthy of this compilation video!
I enjoy seeing the Mario and Luigi moments. They both take the definition of brotherly love to a whole new level. Mario and Luigi prove that despite saving Peach, they go out there way saving each other.
@gavin Krueger No. Luigi is playable in those games, meaning that he can also do it. Plus it's player's choice. Now stop bashing over Mario for no reason. Stop being a jerk.
Mario: steps on Luigi's foot out of simple sibling rivalry Matpat: *"OmG mArIo Is An AbUsIvE bRoThEr To LuIgI!!!1!"* Luigi: literally LAUGHS at Mario for no reason after the latter goes through the painful-looking process of getting turned back to normal Matpat: *this is fine*
i love luigi and marios bond i also love luigi he is my favorite nintendo character because of how kind and innocent, in mario and luigi dream team when you enter luigis dreams and go really deep down it shows you what he is thinking about it and it says things like “big bro!” and “i want to help!” really shows you how much he loves mario and doesn’t care about the fame he just wants to help his bro
While the series as a whole is meant to be a game, and both are playable characters its really nice to see them have real close emotional bonds. They are Mario BROS after all. That is one of the things i felt the movie pulled off better than the games , you could tell they love an care for each other.
I'm glad all this "Mario's a bad brother/Mario's a jerk" bullshit has been dying down recently, cause holy shit. The fact that one scene of Mario showing sibling rivalry towards Luigi got people so worked up was so fucking annoying. And then Matpat's jumping on it with his whole theory definitely didn't help, so screw him for that. I'm just glad more people are starting to see past that crap, and what Mario & Luigi's actual relationship is like.
Spoilers!!!!!!! When Mario saved Luigi in the movie and they were almost crying while hugging, i choked a lil bit, cus nothing's more powerful than Brotherly love
People say Mario hates his brother but that's not the case at all,it's just called brotherly love,I would know because I have a brother we fight and call each other names every so often,it's normal
@@Your.pal.panini Basically your asked as Mario and Luigi to get some parts of a magic medicine for a doctor. During this however, Mario gets eaten by a giant weird green shoe. As Luigi, you go inside it and try to get Mario out. But you both get shot out of it as it dies. You get stuck in the shoe corpse as it shrinks and have to move around in it to find Mario. Eventually you find him as he is being digested by another shoe and you trick them to spit Mario out. You reunite but the shoes now see through your disguise and have to enter a battle.
Can't believe you left out the Star Gate scene from Partners in Time. Hate it or not, that was a seriously good moment that showed how quickly Mario jumps to his defense. BOTH of them! AND it confirms for me that be it as a baby or an adult, Mario always knows who his little brother is.
see and this is why matpat's theory on mario loathing his brother is so honest to god hairbrained. the two have so many sweet moments that i, as an older sibling can say feel genuine. and as an older sibling, we fight!! a lot!! shit happens!!
I wish you brought in Mario and Luigi Dream Team Especially when Luigi was about to go Giant, he always had those quotes like “Gotta protect my bro” which was just so heartwarming to see that he loved his bro!
Definitely should have added in the Mario Luigi games how they react when one of them goes down in battle, especially Bowser's Inside Story. Literally yelling their brothers names out in panic.

Luigi: thanks, bro 9:26
Partners in Time has some of the most adorable instances of the baby bros and mario bros ever, *change my mind*
Also Matpat, it's hard to hear you over the sound of the adorable brother moments over here
Yes yes it does.
BOTH Marios were willing to throw punches for Luigi when the star gate tried to claim he wasn't worthy.
AND, if you REALLY think about it, it also tells you that baby Mario knew adult Luigi was his little brother.
Which means he knows him no matter WHAT he looks like or what he wears.
You cannot tell me he didn't know Mr. L was Luigi.
I always like seeing Mario and Luigi being together again Mario Bros are number 1 same goes to the Baby Mario Bros too.
3:35 "baby :) "
1:10 This is where the Luigi Screaming Meme started.
Love in the first one Luigi got the last laugh😁.
Luigi is laughing at Mario, and next to Mario.
@@pooky-bellegaming4089 exactly he got the last laugh😅.
glad he saved his brother
4:50 It sounds like the angry birds song
Mario and Luigi still the best brothers ever ❤💚
There's no way in hell if these characters would dislike each other if they grew up together and helped each other from dirt to gold.
Mario calling luigi number 1 in Dark moon is so..god damn wholesome
Basically they both save each other, its so cute how they hug each other, i do LOVE to see them being wholesome.
Also why people say mario is a bad brother? Didnt they ever saw whenever luigi is scared mario always the one calm him down, also sibling messed around and talk shit about each other is normal, simply luigi and mario just messed around with each other, but they still cared for each other
3:37 Mario: Babies.
3:47 Luigi: Babies.
Seriously, it’s one of the most Oscar-worthy moments in BIS-and certainly a scene worthy of this compilation video!
because people aren't ready for the infinite wholesomeness
@@Shion-kun Agree to disagree.
I hate that people say Mario doesn’t love Luigi, there’s so many wholesome moments with them
@@gio4931 Me, too-there’s clearly a strong bond between those two!
Let’s also not forget how there’s even more moments in Mario & Luigi Dream Team as well!
“Oh Mario is a bad brother to Luigi, he doesn’t care about him.” Say it to my face after the Mario movie and after seeing this here video, bud
Mario:Thanks Luigi for helping him on several occasions.
MatPat:Mario is an abusive brother!
Luigi crying over Mario being okay in Luigi’s Mansion will never not be wholesome.
5:02 Luigi: Baby.
I enjoy seeing the Mario and Luigi moments. They both take the definition of brotherly love to a whole new level. Mario and Luigi prove that despite saving Peach, they go out there way saving each other.

I HATE MARIO AND LUIGI PARTNERS IN TIME!!!

This is just way too cute 🥺
I love the Mario bro’s but I love Luigi the most
Are you excited for LEGO Luigi?
@gavin Krueger I disagree, because throwing Yoshi of the bottomless pits is not mandatory and literally everyone can do it.
@gavin Krueger that’s a player thing not something he actually does
@Carina Duran Luigi is friends with two ghost
Madame clairvoya and Director Morty something Mario doesn’t have
@gavin Krueger No. Luigi is playable in those games, meaning that he can also do it. Plus it's player's choice.
Now stop bashing over Mario for no reason. Stop being a jerk.
The Partners in time cutscenes are adorable 🥺
I can’t help but smile at those.
Mario: steps on Luigi's foot out of simple sibling rivalry
Matpat: *"OmG mArIo Is An AbUsIvE bRoThEr To LuIgI!!!1!"*
Luigi: literally LAUGHS at Mario for no reason after the latter goes through the painful-looking process of getting turned back to normal
Matpat: *this is fine*
Its objective that dark moon has to be in a mario and Luigi video
8:52 the disrespect 😒
Ether way good video
i love luigi and marios bond i also love luigi he is my favorite nintendo character because of how kind and innocent, in mario and luigi dream team when you enter luigis dreams and go really deep down it shows you what he is thinking about it and it says things like “big bro!” and “i want to help!” really shows you how much he loves mario and doesn’t care about the fame he just wants to help his bro
I loved the part when Luigi rescued Mario in Luigi mansion 3 and for the very first time they gave each other a hug
Poor Luigi at 1:55❤️🩹
Owww...my nose. ROFLMAO!
Wario in the background: Time out! One of the players are injured. I don’t want to continue to play until Luigi is fine!
Ooh, he just got a black eye
4:12
Baby Mario: Weegie!
While the series as a whole is meant to be a game, and both are playable characters its really nice to see them have real close emotional bonds. They are Mario BROS after all. That is one of the things i felt the movie pulled off better than the games , you could tell they love an care for each other.
Mario grinding his little bros foot into the ground gotta be the most wholesome moment by far
😃❓️
I'm glad all this "Mario's a bad brother/Mario's a jerk" bullshit has been dying down recently, cause holy shit. The fact that one scene of Mario showing sibling rivalry towards Luigi got people so worked up was so fucking annoying. And then Matpat's jumping on it with his whole theory definitely didn't help, so screw him for that.
I'm just glad more people are starting to see past that crap, and what Mario & Luigi's actual relationship is like.

Honestly I think he’s mad he lost. I mean, you would be too if you lost to your little brother in a tournament. They ARE brothers.

Seriously Mario is just joking with Luigi
Mario’s not lashing out in jealousy, he’s just teasing his younger twin.
People say Mario hates his brother but that's not the case at all,it's just called brotherly love,I would know because I have a brother we fight and call each other names every so often,it's normal
