Summer for the women for sure especially at 17 years old it's wild; honourable mentions to Sjostrom and Huske. Also I'm happy for Regan Smith who seems to have had a bit of a rough go with it mentally over the years but is doing well in the pool and looks like she's found some inner peace and perspective..
Great video as always! Agreed with almost everything but ranking Zhang Yufei as the 4th best swimmer of the meet is crazy. Kate Douglass, Regan Smith, Titmus, Mollie and Tatjana, at least, were more impressive than her at this meet, in my opinion.
Slight correction (?). In a meet earlier this year, Summer beat Ledecky in 800m by a few lengths in a meet in Fla. This put her name at about the middle of the list of fastest 20 800m freestyles, all others held by the great Katy L. Summer chose not to swim the 800m in Paris ...would have been an exciting race !
It's the one drawback I would have loved to see it but hard to argue Summer choosing the 200 IM instead given it was star studded and ended up being one of the best races of the competition.
Hi, please advise what I can buy as plan 2 wetsuits. I have new speedo valor. And I'm choosing between mizuno mx sonic, finis rival, tyr invictus. I swim 200 IM.
Scandalised. Agree that Kate Douglas and Tatijana got massively snubbed here... But also Torri Huske's 100 Fly victory. That's definitely top5 swim of the games for me - the absolutely savagery to take down her own WR-holding teammate for gold... Loved it

It's because they don't get enough day light. See also: track cyclists. So many swimmers could do with more daylight. See Florent and Caeleb - they're tan aquatic with Steve zizou and no purple face.
No... This does not explain why white Europeans do not have purple faces and why, in previous Olympics, the Americans did not have purple faces either. Just call it racism. Michael Phelps was wrong about no Americans getting caught doping. Shaya Jack should kiss good-bye to her gold unless Anglo-American rules-based orders apply to the Aussie, which is very likely. Sarah over Summer imo, Summer was excellent and she will be the swimmer of the next couple olympics but the 50 free and 100 free count for much more than the 200/400 IM and I could have entertained it if Summer also swam and won the 800 over decky or if she beat titmus in the 400 but the 50 dominance is the most difficult to have imo and beating siobhan and moc and holding off the rest of the field in the 100 was quite unexepected by many.
The winner of the IM's is generally considered to be the best all around swimmer in the world. It's also more difficult to be proficient at multiple strokes and going longer distances than to be a specialist in just one stroke. Do you consider Pan for instance to be a better swimmer than Leon Marchand because he set a world record in a swim that took less than 47 seconds in the pool?
@@brockculver5929 C'mon, you're kidding, right? Pan's 100 (and his split in the relay) were incredible, but Leon torched the field in two different individual strokes--not free and fly, but BREAST and fly!!--plus the IMs. Personally, I found it more impressive than Phelps' performance in Beijing.

Summer McIntosh creates the impression that she got the potential to break any world record in the next couple of years.
Already excited for Los Angeles
Tori Huske had a great meet. She split a 51.9* anchor freestyle which is really fast, plus her amazing finish to win the 100 fly.

Hard to understand how Yufei gets the nod over Regan Smith. 3 individual silvers and great relay splits. Even beat Yufei in the 2 fly.
100m back wr holder doesn't win gold seems like a slight disappointment
At least Summer McIntosh didn’t slander her Chinese competitors the way the American swimmers did.
