I'm an atheist, and this man has such a powerful voice that I return to this from time to time. There's something unifying and beautiful about this collective chant that goes beyond religious reasons for me. He has the perfect voice for it. By the way...love and respect for the Jewish people.
Most people don't realize this wonderful tune was composed by Rabbi Moshe Rothblum, who was rabbi at Congregation Adat Ariel in Los Angeles for many years.
In deed, if Yeshúa was/is the salvation, he was Jew, with family Jew in a nation bless by the Holy One,B’HS , ¿then, why so harsh the history against the blessed people of Abraham? Look like they don’t read the Torah or, like babel they want to go against Adonay…absurd.
I ALWAYS prefer the traditional way of singing our prayers & this is just beautiful, Thank You & Shabbat Shalom to all. May Hashem grant you ALL peace. ☮️ !
Im a convert at Beth shalom Modesto California we sing this too beautiful warms my heart everytime I hear azi do.this rendition makes me think of my congregation that i love so dearly its a conservative synagogue
I too am Catholic but I am also a member of our local synagogue because of my wife's Jewish ancestry. To me there is no conflict as my faith arose from that of my Jewish cousins with whom we share the sacred Hebrew scriptures
Exodus 31:16-17. And the Children of Israel shall observe the Shabbat to make the Shabbat an everlasting Covenant for all their Generations. Between Me and the the Children of Israel "she" is an everlasting Sign (Ote), for in 6 days the L-rd made the Heavens and the Earth. And on the 7th day (He made) Shabbat for renewal of the Soul.
Kinda hard to tell from this distance but looks like it might be Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove (not sure on spelling of the last name but I think I'm on target). I'm decently sure.
Thank you for your reply. It is greatly appreciated. You are correct. I e-mailed Cantor Azi Schwartz and he was very kind to reply to my comments and inquiry. He gave me the name of the rabbi and as you indicate it was and is Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove. By chance, I happened to be searching and was very pleased to encounter both. the cantor on one RUclips and then both together on a subsequent RUclips. I really enjoy their knowledge, enthusiasm, and talents! Again, thank you for your reply. Shalom
You are welcome! I had Rabbi Cosgrove as the junior Rabbi at my shul in Chicago (Anshe Emet) when I was in elementary school and junior high. He did a lot of the youth activity programming, so I had chances to interact with him directly, and from what I recall he was a very nice and knowledgeable man. I remember when he made the move out to NYC, everyone at shul was very happy to see him continuing on his career. It's great to see that he's found such a home at Park Avenue Synagogue! Shalom and be well.
It is wonderful to see that Azi Schwartz has such a wonderful range and that he has the command of other languages besides his native Hebrew. He is an example of Jesus, humble , confident and without prejudice. I love his voice.

I’m confused. Is this shul reform? There is a very clear and obvious musical accompaniment, but at the same time, I’ve noticed Musaf being sang. What is the story? Answer, please answer.
It is a Conservative synagogue. And it is at Ma'ariv before Qaddish followed by Friday night Shmonah Esrei when VeShamru is sung even in most Orthodox shuls.
@@EPA18 Chana Bayla How wonderfully supportive of K'lal Yisra'el you are. The cantor is singing to a full house. A synagogue full of Jews is celebrating Shabbat (def Zachor; Shamor to their own way.) If both of you affiliate Orthodox, then you also know that you can find plenty of Jews in other communities (Gerer, Satmar, Skvirrer, some Chabad, et al) who think that "you" are barely more acceptable than "The Reform". You have probably used this melody in your shuls. Better stop -- it was written by an icky-poo-poo JTS-ordained rabbi, Moshe Rothblum. You don't want anyone thinking you are one of "them." Enjoy the music and keep the lashon hara to... no place.

What a voice! He's so young and still commands the room! Brooklyn is lucky to have Azi as a cantor.
