It may have been slow but the intention of these cars wasn't to get you from point a to point b as fast as possible, it was to get you there as comfortable as possible.
The olds 305 engine was the best engine Cadillac put in them it was a option size engine & most popular engine so you are looking for a old caddie you want to look for one with that engine & they are getting hard to find
Cool video, got yourself a good solid no.2 and a half. With a little money could be a solid 2! That particular year wouldn't recommend restore to 1 status and keep as a daily driver. One suggestion for Christ sakes "remove the fuzzy dice"! That's a Brougham De Elegance by Cadillac not a Chevy Impala! Those filler pieces between body and chrome rear bumper are meant to collapse in the event of a car crash. Most like myself got fiberglass replacements when originals' deteriorated. I had a Brougham same year long time ago it had the De Elegance pkg as well. By the way to the novice out there. Cadillac kept the Brougham from 85 thru 92 as the only rear wheel drive car on there lineup. Tried to save face after majority of there customers jumped ship to Lincoln. Not many where crazy for the downsized front wheel drive Caddies that took over starting in 85.
Great car, I have an 88 in the same color, but not a D'elegance. However, while we both know this should have been Cadillac's most expensive flagship car, it wasn't. The front drive Fleetwood, Eldorado, and Seville were all $5k-$10k more, and of course the Allante was double the price of a Brougham.
Yeah the Seville Eegante was their flagship sedan. Kinda sad, Cadillac spent all their effort and money on the Eldorado , Allante, and Seville. Even the FWD Fleetwood 60s special was higher market. These are great cars, and my favorite back then, but truth is Cadillac really didnt care about it and it was pretty much just marketed it for old traditional buyers and livery. all the FWD cars were their bread and butter back then.
@@TheGentlemansGarage I can promise it won't get there nowadays, the transmission went out a few years ago. But I do remember flooring it to get on the highway and it took over 10 seconds to reach 65 and it stayed in first the whole time.
Nice car. But there is not even a fraction of an ounce of wood in that interior. All plastic imitation wood. I wish more car review vids would accurately point out what's real wood trim and what's not
Nice car! I love my 1990 Brougham d' Elegance! They are pure luxury, and a treat to drive!
