You guys seem extremely well-positioned to restore this car. I hope you respect its design significance and resist the temptation to do some tacky Pro-Touring Kustom Kar modifications to it. Cars like this demand respect, and I hope you restore it to Pebble Beach standards and not SEMA show? When I hear mention of hacking the chassis and making something new and different, I cringe. This car is certainly rough because it was patched together as a prototype, with changes made on the fly. The time for changes is over now. Just gotta put it back together as it was when it was completed, and drove and enjoy it for what it is. If somebody wants to build a modern version over a tube chassis, there are certainly ways to achieve that. But NOT with this car!

Absolutely Amazing. I am a hard core American Motors fan and extreme lover of the AMX/3. Can wait to see it completed. The 3d scanning intrigues me. I need to win a big lottery . Thanks for the update.

I hope this build is completed the way you guys described. The AMX III is a big part of AMC's history and needs to be back on the road. I owned a 70 AMX 360 4-speed Go Package. Fast and fun car. I definitely would have bought an AMX III.

Whew. You guys are working on the holy grail. Dick Teague was brilliant and it shows in the design of this car. At the time, Ford and DeTomaso were introducing the Pantera in Lincoln Mercury stores and GM was showing off a mid-engined Corvette show car that was going to feature a 3 or 4 rotor Wankel engine. No-one expected this car from AMC and suddenly there it was.
Thank you for treating it to the standard that it deserves.

Been following this journey and you channel when I saw the suggestion come up on my feed. I'm into a lot of car videos on RUclips but must admit I never heard of the AMX III until I saw your channel. Since then, I've been googling, YouTubing and generally doing a ton of research on this as it's fascinating.
Thank you so much for your video editing skills, attention to detail and focus on obscure (but important) pieces of historical information.

I’ve only seen a black and white picture of this car in a book I got when I was so ten that was called “Every American Post War Car -1979” I thought it wasn’t just a concept that wasn’t ever completed. What a beautiful AMX

I just stumbled across this video and i must say it is absolutely beautiful. In my opinion right up there with the
Lamborgini Miura. This looks like it came straight from the Pininfarina design studio.Your team seem to be the perfect custodians of this american piece of art.In my opinion it is way to historically important to be put back on the road but i do also agree that it would be very sad if it just became a part of someones static classic car portfolio. This is quite literally the holy grail of american muscle car prototypes!

I presume Chrysler owns the rights to the design and brand. Build this new under the Dodge brand and it would be magnificent. I feel that Chrysler has ignored the legacy of AMC with the obvious exception of Jeep.

@@WetheCommitteethoI would argue that Chrysler bought the name American Motors AMC I think Rambler and AMX. I doubt they bought the name amx3

Even though there was only one built according to what I read in 'special interest auto's" in 1997 there was an AMC 2. Personally I thought it was more masculine looking.

I love the number two prototype I think there were two of those. I went to the farm in Lancaster where it used to be up on the pole and the guy his name was Norm had a new car lot much bigger and the car was way back down a dirt road inside a farm shed and we opened the garage door and pulled it outside in the sun and hung out with it all afternoon this was after Kenosha 82 National meet and the story is in the AMX tra. There are I think 9 AMX 3's

I watched the first one and there is too much talk ! They could condense the fist two into one by showing the pick up of the car and the sand blasting or whatever they used we want to see the car not talk .

I would say that some people would like or enjoy the content and even to see the emotion and to be able to create their own picture of the story for entertainment as well as just information. You are talking about a world where people don't talk on the phone anymore people just text people don't want to communicate well I want the story and I want the emotion and I want the feeling and like he said when he talked too much this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing

There is a fiberglass concept car in Kenosha It’s an amc amx. With a rumble seat. 1of1. Car. Born and raised in Kenosha where all the good cars from amc came from back in the day. It’s amazing and valuable. According to the the caretakers it’s pretty much priceless. To a point. Now this is a rare car. The story goes 3 we’re made 2 we’re destroyed and this guy ending up with it last his job and other stufff cause of the deal afterwards. Amazing car tree though. I’ve seen it. Totally amazing.

If I understand correctly this is the first one of these that were created I wonder if the rest of them have the same weird patch together frame issues or if they were much cleaner looking. And I can't remember where these fitted with a 70 390 eng?
