They're an amazing band. I heard this when I was 10 and bought the LP. It had iridescent shapes similar to the ones on the cover of the album. I had to come here and see this song covered, hoping it was done well. I'm glad it was.

To those that are concerned about sound quality... Dude, these Vids are recorded on phones in a crowd, with NO or little ability to mix or change sound input. Think about that and look past the tech or downfalls of same...THIS is some very good stuff here... and they are having fun.... (see Chris dance and sing, even though she is not mic'd???) .. To the haters that just came here to mourn past versions of the band. get over that, none of us, no matter what we say are going to change what other people want to do..... I have seen the Mac 12 times since 1976 or 75, and have experienced many incarnations of the band over those shows (modern bands DO have background players on stage in the shadows, besides background singers... all bands do this, cant not create the sound live when there are only 5 members playing at once ... BTW Stevie's tambo is never mic'ed_) . I have seen various members solo shows as 8 or more times. If you are going to spew hate, see THIS show live first! The Mac has NEVER in 40+ years of live shows I have seen, NEVER Have they failed to give a balanced exciting show, they are a true working rock band that has only honed their craft as they go...and that means personnel changes, as well as personal changes - issues ... They build a rep on RUMORS (sic) hehehe..... Sorry to those that are so delusional they feel live music exists in a bubble, or sphere of perfection. I love it and hope they go on for as long as possible!

I think the problem with fans is that we tend to take this stuff so much more seriously than they do. They are in the twilight of their live careers. I think they are more interested in enjoying themselves and feeling the material is fresh rather than being perfect sonically. They aren't embarrassing themselves and made changes because that person why preventing them from touring and maybe even enjoying themselves. I'm enjoying hearing "new" "old" songs and the change. It's working for me.

@stevedrums Yes, I agree. I also think that, no matter the "genre," musicians are much more likely to appreciate the music of other musicians. I've come to appreciate that, as a music fan.
Look at Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's covers of Australian bands when he's touring Australia (though his doing so is not limited to Oz). The Bee Gees' Staying Alive. INXS' Don't Change. He did The Clash's London Calling at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Would Springsteen fans expect to hear these covers from The Boss? Maybe, maybe not. He and his band did a great job on each of these, and more, which I think shows the band's appreciation of the songs and those who created them.
I love the Split Enz' I Got You from w-a-a-a-a-a-y back, early 80s, and I do prefer it over the version in the video above; I do like this version. I like a good cover, especially when it's unexpected, and done well, of course.

Neil Finn has to be one of the luckiest performing artists this world has ever seen. Not only did he get to join the band SPLIT ENZ (and his older brother, Tim), have success with them, then form another successful band, CROWDED HOUSE, have a solo career, and then join one of the all-time great acts, FLEETWOOD MAC. How lucky can you get?

Some people complain about their favorite classic bands "wasting time" doing other people's material. You have to remember, these bands have been doing some of the same songs for 20 or 30 years! While they enjoy pleasing the fans with those songs, sometimes they want to take a break and play some new stuff that they can just have fun with. I read that Pat Benatar absolutely HATES doing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," but she says she wouldn't ever do a show without it.

I'm a big fan of both Fleetwood Mac and Neil Finn, but this merger just seems weird; will the marriage progress beyond half-hearted covers of each other's hits?

Wait! I just heard that Neil Finn is "with Fleetwood Mac" - and shit! Here he is! Owning the shit! Is he the replacement for Lindsey Buckingham? If so.... WOW! Excellent! Love Neil Finn! He is the Paul McCartney of the Antipodes.

    • @Fredman2410

They replaced Lindsey with two guys - Neil Finn and Mike Campbell (ex Petty & the Heartbreakers).

For those who don't know Neil Finn, here is the original Split Enz "I Got You" with him very young at 22 years old.

Not quite true. Split Ends (Enz) formed in 1972 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd. Neil Finn joined Split Enz in 1977 after Phil Judd left.

      @@paulrussell5417 I meant the original song, I should’ve phrased it “Split Enz’s”

I’m not sure if that’s Neil Finn or his brother, Tim, the original Split Enz singer.
    Seems more likely it’s Tim.

Why is Nicks doing a duet on this? It's unneccessary and takes away from the song. And really, she needs to stop the hand gestures.

    • @jeffjackson9679
      @jeffjackson9679 6 лет назад +8

I agree. It would be allright for Nicks to sing backup vocals, but her leads overpower Finns in this. They should have turned her mic down a bit.
