They're an amazing band. I heard this when I was 10 and bought the LP. It had iridescent shapes similar to the ones on the cover of the album. I had to come here and see this song covered, hoping it was done well. I'm glad it was.

BTW Stevie's tambo is never mic'ed_) . I have seen various members solo shows as 8 or more times. If you are going to spew hate, see THIS show live first! One of the best Split Endz songs and a New Zealander taking it to the world again :-) fleetwood's all starr band FM covering Split Enz. Who could have foreseen this?!
I think the problem with fans is that we tend to take this stuff so much more seriously than they do. They are in the twilight of their live careers. I think they are more interested in enjoying themselves and feeling the material is fresh rather than being perfect sonically. They aren't embarrassing themselves and made changes because that person why preventing them from touring and maybe even enjoying themselves. I'm enjoying hearing "new" "old" songs and the change. It's working for me.
@stevedrums Yes, I agree. I also think that, no matter the "genre," musicians are much more likely to appreciate the music of other musicians. I've come to appreciate that, as a music fan. Look at Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's covers of Australian bands when he's touring Australia (though his doing so is not limited to Oz). The Bee Gees' Staying Alive. INXS' Don't Change. He did The Clash's London Calling at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Would Springsteen fans expect to hear these covers from The Boss? Maybe, maybe not. He and his band did a great job on each of these, and more, which I think shows the band's appreciation of the songs and those who created them. I love the Split Enz' I Got You from w-a-a-a-a-a-y back, early 80s, and I do prefer it over the version in the video above; I do like this version. I like a good cover, especially when it's unexpected, and done well, of course.
I had no idea Finn had played with FM.Saw SPLIT ENZ in 81 in Calgary and wore the grooves off the WAIATA album.Neil and his bass playing brother were great composers and performers and this is an unexpected tribute to them and a band that later became CROWDED HOUSE and got even better, but I sure miss the origional band.
Tim was an official Crowded House member for the Woodface album, which is their best in my opinion, nothing beats the Finn Brothers harmonies. And Tim plays guitar, keys, and drums but hasn't played much bass other than poorly miming along in a Split Enz video for Strait Old Line.

I find it interesting how people are just discovering Split Enz and their catalogue now. This was the first record I bought and we were saturated with their brilliance in the late 70s and early 80s here in Australia. I just took their awesomeness as a given
Neil Finn has to be one of the luckiest performing artists this world has ever seen. Not only did he get to join the band SPLIT ENZ (and his older brother, Tim), have success with them, then form another successful band, CROWDED HOUSE, have a solo career, and then join one of the all-time great acts, FLEETWOOD MAC. How lucky can you get?
I hate to say it but I am enjoying the set list for this tour. I am sure it's been fun to play these songs as opposed to just FM songs. I love Lindsey but glad to see them all having fun on stage.
Some people complain about their favorite classic bands "wasting time" doing other people's material. You have to remember, these bands have been doing some of the same songs for 20 or 30 years! While they enjoy pleasing the fans with those songs, sometimes they want to take a break and play some new stuff that they can just have fun with. I read that Pat Benatar absolutely HATES doing "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," but she says she wouldn't ever do a show without it.
If this Show was at The Rosemont Horizon,I was there in 87 for Tango in the Night Tour, only the Replacement guitar guys were Rick Vito and Rocky Burnette,Awesome show, though. It takes 2 guitar players ta try and Keep up with da Buckingham legacy!Take care fans!
Surreal to say the least, hearing FM covering “I Got You”! Love that song, always have . I don’t even mind hearing Stevie singing on it, I mean I knew it was going to happen...no big deal.
This is great stuff. FM have been around for decades........if you want to watch the old stuff then get on You Tube. Neil Finns addition adds greatness to FM. A great new direction for them. And if they put out a new Album with Neil's songwriting skills they will be back in the charts.
Perhaps I've been a fan for too long as I find this to be the highlight of show. I don't want to see or hear anything from their back catalog performed live, by them, ever again -- they just don't do it justice. This might not be perfection but it's fun and exciting. Better than going through the motions any time!
I think exactly the same. If this incarnation of FM do go into the studio, Neil Finn's song-writing and multi-instrumentalist abilities will really shine for the band.
I'm a big fan of both Fleetwood Mac and Neil Finn, but this merger just seems weird; will the marriage progress beyond half-hearted covers of each other's hits?
I hope they do Stop Draggin My Heart Around with Campbell on guitar like he did on the album. fleetwood's all starr band FM covering Split Enz. Who could have foreseen this?!

My first Split Enz song, still my favourite after 38 years, so good to see it included in the set of the new Fleetwood Mac lineup, very special
Makes me so proud to be a Kiwi... split enz are awesome and very underrated, their music contributed to the grunge movement of the 90's.
Had nothing to do with Grunge. Enz was nuwave.
It’s a far cry from Kurt Cobain 😂

I'd prob suggest Cosmic Psychos regarding the grunge thing.
