This is a project re-translated by Splatoon lore enthusiasts, ardnin and rassicas to be more accurate to the original Japanese version, while still keeping the fresh attitude of the American localization. It was also funny to see how many people were confused by the bonus chat log, makes me wonder how many never got to read it when they played the game

It's better in the original translation, where she straight up threatens Cuttlefish if he does anything.
It’s interesting that Pearl didn’t know Marina was an octoling. That seems extremely important to the story, kinda strange they didn’t translate it directly. Great dub as always!
It makes sense, during the events of Octo expansion, It’s been a hundred years since both species interacted. To the point there the new generation doesn’t even know what an Octoling looks like. And I think The lore implies that inkling aren’t the most brightest folk out there. So it might be the reason why pearl didn’t know. (I’m not sure, I have to research more T.T)

It’s also stated that they are taught that Octarians live far away, so yeah they definitely haven’t seen them before
Also, isn’t it stated somewhere that when an octoling (I think marina) got to the surface, everyone thought she was an inkling as well? Imagine if she accidentally went into swim form

Well when you think about it most Inklings aside from the Agents wouldn’t know what an Octoling would look like. I mean Cuttlefish had to explain what they were to us in the first Splatoon.
Well in the game it’s stated that the octolings that have been spotted across inkopolis have been thought to be inklings with “odd hair styles” by its citizens
They learn about the Octarians in school, yet they don't know what they look like? ???
@@lunalgaleo1991 From what I recall from the first game, Octolings are meant as elite troops, used for covert ops. My guess is Inkling schools only really showed the basic Octarians and Octavio himself, rather than the advanced troops. I know in my history classes we were never taught the weaponry at the time that either side of a war had, just the important figures on both sides.

I don't have many thoughts on that, really. Though considering that the Inklings are hinted at being rather unobservant, it doesn't surprise me.
The Octo Expansion chat room's mainly tells a story about Marina's past and I love it! Making her unwelcome in a different place just like in our world, has a friend to got her back in danger, and accept her as a person/octoling in a different place that she belongs. I love of what the developers did to her story and can't wait to see her with Pearlie an upcoming DLC! As Agent 8 said at the end, "will that was fun" listening to this story.

I kinda hope they do. And Splatoon is so big in Japan (almost as big as Pokemon), I wouldn't be surprised.

@@MatthaisUnidostres …only if Nintendo takes a similar approach as the did with Mario. Plus, Splatoon isn’t nearly as big in the states as Mario; chances are good that some people in Illumination don’t even know what it is.
XD pearl swearing so casually is so funny to me still. Love the restranslated version way better, but I miss pearl literally threatening the old man’s life for marina xD
These chat rooms were always my favorite part of the dlc, I just found myself always excited to see what they would all talk about next. Helped me get through some of the tougher levels tbh lol
now with this info on marina imagine what kind of demo we might have gotten if marina won the final splatfest

Fun fact - Russian localization of OE was almost fully based on the original Japanese version, including that anime/manga club joke in Pearl and Capn's rap before the statue emerged. :)

The voices were brilliant! I never knew the amount of differences between the american and japanese versions of the chatlog, this was well made!

Idk if I'm tripping but in the thumbnail I swear agent 8 looks somewhat different from the actual game. Looks like a Blender model and it looks better than the actual in-game model I'm my opinion.
