As the resident Cat 1 player at Brian and I's locals, I love my chaos deck. To be fair, I bring it everywhere, but only play it if we agree that the level of locals is gonna be top tier.
That rule zero conversation is exactly what I do before a locals before a big event. If people are wanting to play test for a big event and want the reps in then stuff like chaos is on the table.
Torrey saying he dislikes chaos because when he sat down there was an implied agreement we’d be playing fftcg😂 I personally think an underrated concern with chaos imo is what it represents as is for aggro in the game- pending some huge power level shifting towards yugioh level powers I think a problem and frustrating design for chaos is any aggro deck that ever gets printed will either be immediately outclassed by chaos or if it’s not, will be so insanely broken it’s beyond comprehension but that’s maybe just my hot take and maybe I’m talking from a non tcg game developer mind set
I definetly agree on the game taking a huge power spike shifting towards yugioh level, in a way I like that because the posibilities in this game are endelss, but in another way i feel the community as a whole preffers to have the "gentleman" type of games where you both get to set up and what not. Either way i think its kinda exciting how the game is shaping.
There is only 1 card which I absolutely love to be gone from the game and its Zidane 16H. Nothing tilts me harder and its so efficient (impossible to counter on equal cost): Other than that, restricting 4Col Warrior of Light to 1 copy would solve a lot of issues. Gilgamesh FFBE would lose impact (there are plenty of effects which remove 1 card) and Refia + Mono Earth would also take well deserved hits without having to ban anything else. Lasswell: u called it, just change the job name. Other than that he's a cool card - not even in the same league of power and tilt-factor for me as Zidane with the same stats. For Chaos, you had also good suggestions. I enjoy the card as a 1 off in wa/li monsters very much. I'd just make the special cost 1 colorless CP. I think that would be enough to bring the deck down to a more manageable level as spamming the 2nd special when the first one misses is less viable.
I can understand that feeling if it wasn't banned. I remember when sterne leonis and her got previewed and I immediately knew that sterne was going to be banned eventually.
My Salt Tier List 1: Chaos - Discard and dead on board scenarios, no win counterplay and saying "I hope I burst out" is not a fun or engaging gameplay loop. 2: Amaterasu - No, you cannot always play around this card. This card should not hit Shantotto. It's annoying because it's also a load bearing card against stuff like GigaWoL and Knights but *everyone* has said the phrase when going for a play "If you have the Amat, I lose" 3: Althea - This is effectively a self protecting floodgate. Fun fact, this card is not once per turn. And she doesn't have to return herself to get the bounce. I've resolved 3 Althea bounces in the same stack before. Completely disgusting card that shouldn't have been printed. 4: Zidane 16H - This idiot will always steal the best cards from my deck and be useless against my opponent without fail. At Worlds, a turn 1 Zidane stole, basically in sequence: Chocobo, Venat backup, Chocobo, Lulu, Atomos. Meanwhile, I stole three dead backups in that mirror. On a later round, he stole 2 separate 9 CP Odins. I missed top cut in Kansas due to Patrick stealing like... Cu Sith into every good card in my storm deck, starting from turn 1. Miserable card. Why do we have better Ragavan in our game? 5: Lasswell - People discount this card but he's always done what he does in Knights. And he was always frustrating. Turn 1 Lasswell is the best going second play in the game from the time he was printed... well until Chaos was printed. He freezes the turn 1 backup. Then, you get to play the Lasswell mini-game. Do they have a way to stop a blocker? Do they have another knight in hand to lock more backups? I distinctly used to search for Fiona off Norschtalen in blind matchups because searching for Tilika or Althea was not reliable when this idiot was in the meta. 6. Rufus - Have you ever seen this guy cast for 2? Let me tell you, it's among the most ridiculous things they let you do in this game. 7. Unei - Unei ends games when she comes into play. And the Unei mini-game if both players are on her sucks. You essentially both discard your hands to destroy each other's fields because you can't let them untap with their Unei. But in doing so, they get the counterplay to out your Unei. This is the real thing that makes Ark oppressive, not even the card itself. We used to meme about this card in Dallas because I think I played it 3 or 4 times in a game once. So brutal. 8. Zidane 3H - This is a slightly historical one but this game should not have had this card ever printed. It's a random Ice card in Wind that to this day is maybe the best source of targeted discard in the game. 9. Scale Toad - I hate this damn card. 10. Lenna 21H - I think there's a lot of harm this card does. It's frustrating to play against, should not be mandatory, and you have the obnoxious every time an EX happens, where your opponent looks at you with this smug look of "Oh, is that burst worth me drawing a card?" And to top it off, since so many good bursts are in water, as the game centralizes around Bursts as the most viable defensive mechanic, Lenna goes up in priority to counter the counter. I'm almost expecting Chaos to start running this card at this point.
I personally love Lenna, and would rather just have every element get a card like her to punish EX bursts. Acting smug when I hit a burst is the best feeling in the game.
@@dWatchGuard I hate the combination of Rhystic Study and Maxx C style "yeah I'm drawing this card", the comically pushed... everything and the centralizing aspect she adds to Water as an element. If other decks got similar cards then *maybe* but I also think Lenna is just a perfect storm of having 7 effects and all of them being absolutely necessary to the card seeing play.
