I grew up in the South Bronx 1970s thru 1990s. I'm sorry, but DJ Animal needs to be in some DJ Hall of Fame. This man brought excitement to the streets and night clubs. I never knew his real name, and I just saw the Red Bull Academy's Revolution on Air: The Golden Era of NY Radio 1980-1988 and they give him a shout out at the end, so I finally got his real name, googled it and here I am. I lost so many tapes over the years. So thankful for RUclips and those who contribute to this free medium of music. It is a treasure trove for those of us who lived on recording music off the radio with our boom boxes so we can play it the next day on the streets. I too remember Animal playing at "Elegante's" in Jersey. Wow. My hat off to DJ Animal and all other DJ's, both on the radio and the streets, who made the music of our youth.

jose the animal was very much respected in 1982 and 83. he's the first person who broke in "120 bpm" by the jive rhythm track when he mixed it in with planet rock. dope mix! i use to have tons of jose the animal, dynamic duo, aldo marin, shep pettibone, jonathan fearing mixes, unfortunately all lost now.

Jersey City in the house. Long Live Journal Square. It was hard to choose back in those days between 92KTU or 107.5BLS. Hell, these kids don't know at one point we didn't even have FM RADIO. I just remember hearing "GOOD MORNING LOVE, this is RON LANDY from the GREATEST City in the world, NEW YORK" That's when you only had NBC and ABC Radio. The top 8 at 8, and NBC had the Top 7 at 7. God forbid you missed #1, you never knew what it was. Is it better today?? HELL YES!!! I can find out lyrics, or song titles, or buy it in a second. Things sucked back then. People always talk about the good ole' days like they are so much better, maybe communication or socializing is, but not when it comes to buying goods. God bless east coast brothers and sisters.

You had the UPPER SCALE cassette player if it would automatically go to the other side. Other wise, it would stop and you had to switch it over manually. THANK GOD FOR MP3'S!!!!

from what i've been told if u take care of them either a cd or dvd it should last u a lifetime that's why u should b careful not to scratch them or leave them in the sun and if u need to clean them u clean them from the center outward with a clean clothe and not in a circular way

wow........this was a very long time ago........i'm supprised the audio in the tape lasted so long.....in spring of 2001 i recorded an event on a cheap camcorder and the audio only lasted 4 years...the video is probably gone by now to....when i saw the audio disapear i transfered the image-video to dvd so i wont loose it for ever...question:..... how long does dvd last....no body knows...

Rascals overdid it with sampling/edits too much cutting used to stop the flow when people danced (they hated that) .....Animal let the music played he knew how to work the crowd
