After my Arya started peeling like a mofo, I swore off hifiman products. ChiFi products are ChiFi for a reason, I suppose... I can only really stand by their DacAmps now, with brands like Topping still doing good.
As the owner of HIFIMAN Arya Organic, I listened to Arya Unveiled and HE1000 Unveiled and I can say that the owners of HIFIMAN Arya Organic can safely pass by HIFIMAN Arya Unveiled and HIFIMAN HE1000 Unveiled if they are in love with the sound of Arya Organic and they like high frequencies. HIFIMAN Arya Unveiled and HE1000 Unveiled can't beat Arya Organic in terms of emotional sound delivery. The HIFIMAN HE1000 Unveiled sounds very close to the HIFIMAN Arya Organic, rich in midrange, only the lower and higher frequencies are weaker. HIFIMAN Arya Unveiled did not understand at all, it's just terribly boring-sounding headphones, devoid of emotional coloring. Unlike Arya Unveiled and HE1000 Unveiled - HIFIMAN Arya Organic sound very emotional, fun, and they also have the most powerful bass, creating a live sound effect. I'll give you an analogy with coffee. HIFIMAN Arya Organic as a sip of rich and strong espresso from the Jura E8 coffee machine, and HIFIMAN HE1000 Unveiled the same espresso coffee, only diluted with 60 ml of water, killing all the strength and saturation of the espresso.
I think you are talking about colorisation vs neutrality and real life like timbre - vocals sound the way they sound in real life, piano like piano, bass like real bass ect colouration can be added with EQ but cannot be removed - analogy having a red camera lens or transparent
thinkbeforeyoupost9766, True, coloring can be added using an equalizer, but you still won't be able to get the Organic bass even through an equalizer, it's all about magnets. Organic has thick magnets and they are tightly arranged, I counted 26 magnets (13 pieces inside the ear), the gap between the magnets on the eye is 3-5 mm. The HE1000SE has thinner magnets, and there are also 13 of them, with an eye-to-eye gap of 6-10 mm. The Organic magnet has an eye thickness of about 4-6 mm, and the HE1000SE has an eye thickness of about 2 mm. All HIFIMAN HE1000 Stealth, HE1000SE, HE1000 Unveiled, Arya Organic, Arya Unveiled models have the same high sound resolution and high detail. The only difference is in the thickness, number, and location of the magnets. A denser arrangement of magnets creates a stronger and more uniform magnetic field, while the thick Organic magnets provide greater induction, and this affects low-frequency reproduction and focused sound. The most bass-heavy among all these models is the HIFIMAN Arya Organic. The Organic has a powerful bass register that adds a warm and lively sound effect to a neutral sound, while the other models do not have a warm sound effect due to the lack of powerful bass. Then playing with medium frequencies creates the effect of the width of the stage. In Organic, the midrange is heard very close, in HE1000 Unveiled, the midrange is heard as close, but not as in Organic, in HE1000 Stealth, HE1000SE, the midrange is heard further away.
That is very interesting information which now only means that these are different headphones and are not meant to compete - analogy now saying that colour blue is better than red or yellow - some prefer both - horses for courses - no reason to get all colours aka different amounts of bass (lcd 4 vs lcd 5)
Don’t want to be offensive but as a coffee enthusiast, Jura E8 is not a good benchmark. It’s a high-end quality appliance which produce inoffensive coffee, but it’s nearly irrelevant within the coffee enthusiast community
@ It's relevant. If it's easy to drive, it implies that sound is not going to change much based on the source gear. This would not be the case with say, the Modhouse Tungsten. What drives it would directly affect how someone reviews it.
@@prithviboinpally2138 just false. Impedance matching and amp topologies are extremely and fundamentally important. A headphone is just a dumb electrically driven oscillator. To ignore the signal that you're driving that oscillator with is fundamentally absurd. Even in the absence of knowing things about electronics and information theory, it's plain arrogance.
@@ChrisStoneinator Lol. In what ways do you think an op-amp based topology affects sound as opposed to a fully discrete design? It's just as you said, the headphone is dumb in that it does not know, nor does it care what steps were taken (i.e. topology) to achieve the voltage coming into it. Impedance matching has more merit, but nearly all solid state amplifiers on the market have output impedance that's already low (~2 ohms). Even the 8x rule of thumb is surpassed in almost every pairing. If you want to use tube amps, sure. If impedance matching were that important, I doubt people would say that Hifiman headphones pair will with tube amps (a Schiit Valhalla has an output impedance of 19 ohms on hi-gain so we'd need 160 ohm impedance headphones, and most hifimans have far lower impedance) and yet they do. Go figure. The HE1000 Unveiled has fairly low impedance of 28 ohms but it's a planar magnetic driver. Planars have flat impedance vs frequency curves pair well with almost any amplifier that can put out a bare minimum amount of current (given the high sensitivity of 94 dB/mW).
A more detailed comparison to the HE1000se would have been nice. From the driver unit it seems to be quite similar, so when using a bit of EQ they should almost sound the same I guess
Except the Unveiled not having the headphone cover grill at all which apparently seems to affect the sound by making reflections. I don't think you can really do it by EQ while the other headphone having a grill, and the other is not! However, I haven't heard the Unveiled, but there is a recent video of Hifiman guys themselve's showcasing the new Arya Unveiled while explaining the sound difference with the Unveiled design! I think you should look it up, at least for me it was really interesting! A side note, if you listen to the Hifiman's and place your hand outside, you can clearly hear a difference in the sound and in the soundstage. By this, I think, the Unveiled series without a grill might be the ultimate solution for the headphone to produce as uncolored sound as possible. Who knows, would be happy to try one out!
