    There's something really charming about the PS2's fixed camera angles and obvious MIDI music, plus the English dub is bolstered by all the recognizable VAs. I never realized Kiwami uses the exact same rigging and motion capture performances as the PS2 game just applied to 8th gen character models, the performances and the new models tweaked for the PS2 skeletons are so well done it looks fantastic. This is one of those remakes that's just different enough that both games have something great to offer, like Resident Evil PS1 VS Resident Evil GameCube.

    great video! played the originals on ps2, bought them both new and still have them! yakuza 2 was even at a discount price at launch for 30 cad (half of 60 cad)! awesome times :)

    It’s strange that only the PS2 had such a beautiful film-like bloom its successors never achieved in the pursuit of more “realistic” lighting . Shadow of the Colossus demonstrates this between the PS2 and PS3 remake as well.
    That and Mark Hamill voice over as Goro Majima is worth playing through alone.

    that shows the remake is more than just bring the game to new generations, it's a tribute to this masterpiece,

    The PS2 versions are worth checking out if you can still find them.
    I'm currently working my way through the second one before moving on to the Kiwami titles and sequels.

    Les Yakuza Kiwamis sont les exemples parfaits de remakes bien faits : plus beaux, avec des améliorations de gameplay et sonores, parfois plus d'histoires là où il faut, mais pourtant très fidèles aux originaux dans la mise en scène, l'histoire, le déroulé. Les mêmes jeux, simplement plus beaux et au goût du jour. Tout ce qu'on demande, quand les originaux sont difficiles à trouver ou avec peu d'avantages sur la version modernisée (en France notamment).

      @SimonPhungChannel 9 месяцев назад +5

      @@derek2802In some cases, yes and no. Fake Mizuki's ending cutscene is completely butchered. Kiwami's Kazuma is completely stone-faced most of the time and some re-voiced line aren't as raw as OG. Some chapter's structures aren't so straight forward in Kiwami, also the Komaki training are silly this time, and music in one are banger than some remix in Kiwami.

    In the original there are normal emotions, in the remake the main character only has suppressed diarrhea on his face. Always, in any situation. It looks funny and ridiculous.
