  • There are three core types of interview questions - experience, self-evaluation, and behavior-based - each unpack the talents of candidates in the selection process. Experience questions ask candidates to tell us what they think about their past experiences and education related to the job. If the position you are applying for manages or supervises others, interviewers often want to know about your experience in this area.
As you prepare to interview, recall for what periods of time you supervised other staff and how many people you supervised. Supervising staff often involves providing work direction and managing performance. Be prepared for follow-up questions about any challenges you faced as well as your management style. If you haven’t supervised other people before and you are asked this question, consider times where you lead a project team, provided direction to others. Use those experiences to best highlight skills you obtained related to leading others.
