It seems to be a hybrid between a game console and a fidget toy. If I was developing these things, I’d throw as many different buttons, levers and switches on them as possible.
That’s fair, I think of this as a boutique item. It’s made for a very specific market, but is not worth it for most. I enjoyed it all things considered, but I def don’t play it daily. I’ll usually dig it out play it for a week then put it back
@@itsfkf6106 I have giant hands but that didn’t bother me. It would have greatly been improved with a backlight. Even like a green glow of a watch type. The screen is still amazing, it’s neat in spurts, it was fine in a 1-3 hour gaming session. I ended up getting the case as well, because it’s not too pocketable without that
People are acting like this is meant as more than just a challenge for programmers and that’s frustrating. It’s a great way to motivate programmers to practice and think outside the box.
I've seen this thing here and there over the past year and never bothered to look into it because I thought it was like a wind-up toy and you had to crank it to power it. Now that I know it has a terrible e-reader screen and costs almost 200 bucks I'm even less interested.
For that price tag they couldn't include a worm light attachment for us Millennials to feel something again... I still have my GBC green worm light.... Memories. I actually thought I was being cute cuz I had a very pink and white color and I was a very pinky pink little girl but I liked the idea of having the green worm light because it was like having a stem for the berry
I love the look of this thing, and how unique it is. Considering getting it as much as an art piece as anything else. Are there ongoing subscription costs for the games? Or one payment and you get everything?
One payment and you get the first season, they have a catalogue which has free to play and games you can buy as well. There are about 400+ games for this now
Does the crank charge the battery? If not, I don't think it's worth it. If it was an efficient rugged machine that works in rough conditions, out camping, and didn't require replaceable batteries or charging with a cable if I just crank the crank for 10 minutes to play a mini game for 5 minutes, or crank for 30 minutes to play for 15 minutes, that would be well worth the price. That, and I can charge it to full power with a USB if I want to. I grew up going on canoe trips as a kid and I brought my GBA with me and a ton of batteries. I was always worried about water damage or running out of batteries. I had to bring 2 DSes to last a whole multinight trip. I was worried the entire time. Why hasn't anyone made a handheld built for camping and all-weather conditions, and crank power? Sure, I could use an expensive portable solar panel now, but I'm too old for trips now and the canoe is busted. What a shame!
95% of my content is shorts. This is just this way because shorts don’t allow for 1 minute + content. I may do a full horizontal review in the future, but for watching on phones, which is a vast majority of my audience, this format is fine.
You have a warped sense of money if you think this is worth only $15. I could understand if you said 100 maybe even 50, but the price of less than 2 packs of pokemon cards?
Frankly, I liked the device, but when I knew its price, it was a disappointment
Honest and fair assessment
that’s teenage engineering for you, all of their stuff is super neat - i especially love their pocket synths - but it’s so goddamn pricy.
How much?$10000?
I braced myself for the steepness when i saw how clean it was but was still shocked
Who are we kidding.
We're all going to buy one.
Play with it once and put in with the other handhelds.
Touch it maybe 4 times a year 👏
Looks really cool. I feel like it's going to struggle to catch on at that price point but I would totally get one at closer to the 100$ mark.

I think too many controls would be anxiety inducing.
nuh uh
I would have instantly bought it ..but it seems a bit overpriced.
For this price I can just get an emulation handheld...😅

@@ThePaulWeber how is the general usability and feel of it?

Nice short review, all the informations needed is here, wish more channels did this to prevent you from getting bored watching their videos.

It was never marketed like that
I really like it, I'm just sick of passes and subscriptions.
Good news everyone! Looks like they've bumped the price to $199 now lmao no thanks 💀
Hope you didn’t buy one, waiting on mine to be shipped
$170? No way! For 50 - maybe...
Can't spell Paul Webber without w
🙏🏼 thank you!
That price is insane, you can get a switch lite for that that much.
For this price you can get chiping switch lite.
For that price, you can just get playdate
For that price you can buy a used 3DS, then "mod🏴☠️" it to have all games
Cute design but it's about half the price of the cheapest Steam Deck which in comparison is monstrously more powerful and capable...
still dont understand why its not colored.
The cuteness only of that thing is what makes me consider buying it
It looks really simple, but what's totally a win is how much personality it has compared to other handheld that are pretty much glorified emulators
Bop it,pull it, smack it, twist it!! [[O F this! smacked against the wall😂]]]

"179 dollars is not cheap, that's nearly the price of a nintendo switch lite"
Me who was planning to buy it: *oh, nevermind*
Yeah, this is like something I buy for my kid for like 80 bucks at the most. Almost 200 is wild
I love the look of this thing, and how unique it is. Considering getting it as much as an art piece as anything else. Are there ongoing subscription costs for the games? Or one payment and you get everything?

Looks fun, might buy it

It’s just an over priced wario clone.
fun fact: as i can heard about this tiny device, it has 20 games at the start but it shows you a game every day.
Wait what... 180? FOR WHAT! How do I stop this channel from wasting my time.
gaydate is one of the consoles ever made!
too expensive
$180 for a black and white handheld? hard pass roflmao Maybe $20 but $180 is eyewateringly way too high.
Can it run doom?
Not worth the price, there’s a ton more small handheld retro emulation devices that are the same price and offer way more fun.
“Emulation device” lmao any phone can run retro emulation but not playdate, try again
ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS !?????
Hope you didn’t buy one so mine can be shipped sooner
why would you spend 200 fuckin bucks for something you play once and never again
I want one now.
O preço disso é um insulto, é um absurdo, é surreal.
Its very cool and everything arounfld the hardware is aswell, but unfortunately the price is way to high
16000 рублей!?. За эти деньги можно купить телефон с 256 гб и 8 оперативкой от xiomi или Tecno pova 5.
Then buy a phone, this isn’t a phone
What about battery?
Are you a Lamb? ❤❤❤
Subbed to the channel to see more reviews, by any chance would you?
Imma make more reviews!
Can you add a link so I can get one
What’s that black game boy looking thing
Analogue Pocket. A device that plays all Gameboy cartridges from the original to advance.
PLEASE TURN YOUR PHONE SIDEWAYS THIS IS SO ANNOYING

199 usd
What Is that black pocket console?
Probably a raspberry pi3 in a gameboy pocket shell sold for $300
its cool but overpriced, i bought a gamecube with cables and a (third party) controller for less
Looks like 15 buck's at top
You have a warped sense of money if you think this is worth only $15. I could understand if you said 100 maybe even 50, but the price of less than 2 packs of pokemon cards?
Probably worth 40 to 50 at the most but that's still rough because I was able to get a Miyoo Mini for only $27 shipped and it's way better than this.
Ого😮!!!😮 круто!!😮😮😮
