The Move List for this game was so bizarre to me back in the day. It took me a while to learn this game as a kid and I never was very good at it. This game was just an anomaly of fighting games and it still remains as one of gaming histories most advanced. It has SO many fatality methods using combos and special moves, it just astonishes me that how deep this game actually is.
***** Since James Goddard did expressed interest in reviving the WeaponLord franchise, he should get a Kickstarter going for it and if it passes, it should be released for current generation gaming consoles.
The sega version is one of my favs games, I love the intro music (which is different than the one from snes), some things I like: -Great caracters -Hit victories! (fatalities that can be combines one after another) -The true ending is only achieved by playing zarak -Weapon breakage! (and hair cutting) -If you don't kill your opponent it will come for you latter on.
Maybe. But dude going for a longplay. He not killing anyone, face them once again in Skull Gods arena, still not killing anyone. Only killing Zarak - fulfilling prophecy and all that jazz. So he get one of two possible endings for Korr. Another one happens if you kill Bane.
Even this game was made developed by a Non-Japanese developer for a Japanese company such as Namco, I feel that they did a great job with this one, especially with the story and violence.
I had this game a few years ago, and it was way too difficult for me, which is a shame because as this video shows, the system allows for some furious looking battles when the player knows what they're doing.
This game is a hidden gem!!! I remember playing this back in the 90´s with my brother on our SNES, it was hard to master some combos but it was very fun. Good time, great memories 😌
I really appreciate how most SNES games’ graphics don’t depreciate.. most were basically drawings so it made you appreciate the artists work and kind of forced you to immerse yourself in that specific setting.. this was actually a pretty decent game
This game is hard as balls. I rented it for Genesis back in the day. I could win a bit, but soon learned that if i wanted to win without having to re-fight everyone all over again, I needed to learn the fatalities, which are performed by doing specific combos when the opponent is with low health and it results in you butchering them.
+Legion Beast I owned this on the SNES. Some characters were easier to kill with than others. I managed a four-stage fatality with Divada, for example (spinning blades disemboweled her opponent, flipping blades chopped the head off, do it again to destroy the head and leave the brain, and then a couple of magic blasts to the torso caused that to explode).
I had this game and love it even tho it's really clunky the characters have few animations per frame so it feels like it's lagging but would love to see this in todays engine.
Happy People still commenting here. The Sound and Art Design is still so top notch, there was never another Game out there like this. Im afraid with a Remake it wouldnt have the same tone completely these Days
This was once called the hardest fighting game ever made because the AI was designed specifically to defeat the trappings of previous games. Corner traps, tripping(sweep kicks) repeated attack spamming. It's said once the difficulty is cranked up the AI is almost impossible to beat.
Still one of my favorite 16-bit throwback games! hard as balls, but lots of fun for me and my friends (nostalgia goggles, i know :-). I can't help but wonder how much of this game gave rise to certain concepts and characters in the Soul Caliber/Blade series to follow. I mean tell me that Bane is not Rock....
herron321 As far as I'm concerned, Rock is based off Bane himself albeit the noticeable differences between the two, and since Soul Edge/Soul Calibur is somewhat based off of WeaponLord minus the finishers. Could you just imagine of what would happen if Death Battle back on www.screwattack.com pits Bane from WeaponLord against Rock from Soul Calibur, what would that be like if they did that in your own words?
Awesome play SCHLAUCHI. This game is tough as nails, and scare the shit out of me when i was a kid :) Thanks to my older brother - he likes WeaponLord. And as i grew up, i can see why.
I had my parents re-rent this game for 3 months straight because I couldn't find it in stores to buy. Oddly it was a random pick one day at Hollywood video because all the other fighting games I wanted were unavailable. This was in 1996. This was back when you had to brute force figure out all the special move combinations if you didn't have a move guide or if it wasn't published in GamePro magazine. Divada was my jackpot
@AT Productions Yup. Retro gamers are just delusional. That's why they still can't get over decades-old obsolete games. Luckily, most of them are going to be sent to nearby sanatoriums in a decade or two so they could stop babbling about how superior the games they grew up with.
I'm guessing story mode doesn't have the fatalities. But anyway, nice work here! [Add-on] Oh, it does, it's just you spared everyone to show the extra level.
Never seen this game before (I don't have a *SNES*), but even if I like the concept and the style... the low framerate (and the frames in general are really few) spoil a promising game. Still, nice atmosphere and backgrounds. -BETMARK-
BETMARKonTube Low framerate? Few frames(look at the stands!!! The effects of the moves) What are you talking about? It's a SNES game what do you expect?
convoy81 Having a low framerate on a fighting game is the worst you can do especially on the moves. Compare this to Mortal Kombat or Killer Instinct on the SNES those two games are buttery smooth
they need to remake this game. Even though Visual Concepts made the game and Namco published it I think it would be cool if Namco helped them rebirth this.
how have i never seen this game?those cool blocking and actions sequances . uyou can actually see weapons collision. it should be right up there with mortal kombat and killer instinct ( mabye on like its 5th or 6th sequal game by now lol but that's gone and done
the last arena looks pretty cool, with the enormous demon taking a bone bath, but if the perspective is to be understood, would that mean that they are fighting on the demon's crotch??
Great game..Before Mace The Dark Age and Soul Edge with blood on snes and genesis..underated...namco should reboot this game on xbox1 and ps4 and add fatalities
I remember either Gamepro or EGM hyping the shit out of this game for about 3 issues (they interviewed the developers). Shame the finished product wasn't that great in the end, it was just another decent fighter in a sea of fighters during it's time.
It's beyond a decent fighter. It's a very well made game and ahead of it's time. People just don't like it because it's hard. It's a fair challenge and I love this game for the Sega Genesis. SNES version looks just about as good as Sega's.
@@subzero8679 Gamepro ultimately trashed this same game that they hyped for 3 issues when they reviewed, it wasn't a hit with gaming magazines back in the day.

Awesom game play. I tried to do the same but with Bane"!" An all i got is my ass handid to me . This game gave me. P. T. S. D. Ha"!" Thanks for playing this
LOVE the design of this game, characters and arenas look very cool.
Cornel N You'll probably like Simon Bisley (he provided art for box of this game). Google his name sometimes ;)
+Cornel N WeaponLord is one of those games that "should" one day make a comeback.
It was the epitome of the 90s.

So ahead of it's time. If only there had been better hardware at the time, or if this could have gotten pushed to NeoGeo....
I would like to see a remake of this game. Not in 3D but like this but with more characters, faster gameplay, better combos and a super bar.
StevieHyperD2 lol yea almost

This is awesome. I remember reading a review of this game sooo long ago. And now here it is.

daveincognito Yeah, some characters flowed better for the finishing combos. Bane was really hard to get anything flowing due to his "brute" playstyle.
+daveincognito Yea, Divada was definitely my fav for that very reason
The artsyle of this game is metal as fuck, the designers were definetely big Frank Frazetta fans.
I had this game and love it even tho it's really clunky the characters have few animations per frame so it feels like it's lagging but would love to see this in todays engine.
Soul Calibur meet Conan the Barbarian...
This is a slept on fighter if you ask me. Plus on the genesis version when you defeat the final boss, he's beheaded with the final slash

they dont make games like they use to its sad people dont embrace creativety
They have focused so much on realism in the titles today that they make them boring IMO. I still play the classics sometimes for a better time.

fantastic game, the best, pity it is almost unknown...
@23:24 Don't know if someone already commented, but sounds like "Everybody Wants Some" by Van Halen.
The background looks better than the foreground.
Bane is 100% Rock prototype.
