Nice, clear explanation and demo. Thanks so much. All in all, I think the 6" has the best bang-for-buck, and I like that it seems a little more violent. I don't think the 12" justified the amount of bp, gas, and, most importantly, the heavy hardware. Love me some fireballs!!

Coffee creamer cremoras work pretty well and, to me, seem less hassle. Plus, if desired, small stars or crackle can be added to the creamer.

Andy do you separate the lift from the ematch with tissue paper or something? I don't like the idea of shaking up the lift charges, possibly creating a spark on the ematch?
So that's how the movies do it. Every Michael Bay-type fireball explosion is either CGI or gasoline charges.

They also use a propane type system for indoor and allot of theatrical type events. Most of the ones you see in movies and concerts are propane and computer controlled.
Lastly, that’s Bc they don’t have real fireworkers on set to make more realistic type explosions. Their is a difference is pyrotechnics guy and a fireworker.
Look at “Ned Gorski” channel here on YT if you are serious about learning about fireworking.

How is the lift charge made is it just a regular MJG igniter centered in the bottle what were the specs for the bottle and black powder versus titanium

I wonder what 90% nitro methane would burn like? Would the flame go even higher in the sky or burn longer? Or would it burn good at all? Since it's not the easiest fuel to set off.

Jake Eves........you make them. Or have them made. Pyro supply shops maybe like woodysrocks.com might make them for you. But they are enlarged “mine pots” for fireworks. Most people make their own. Ya just weld steel pipe to a thick base.

What is the required wall thickness, please?
Would proof testing (shoot a 2X lift charge, tube full of water, in a pit / behind sandbags) to be somewhat confident that the tube won't burst and throw steel shrapnel during the show be a good idea?
That should work, water is heavier than gas so you could be absolutely sure it wouldn't burst the tube when you use gas and half the powder.

@@AlexA-yj9ft it helps guarantee ignition, though I've never had one not ignite without a metal mixed in, you can also use tiny bits of thin aluminum foil.

Higher octane should just make the flame temp cooler not larger

The gas eats through the plastic case, or seeps in easier than water?
The water acts as a plunger to push all the gasoline out of the tube. There is fall out from what ever exits the tube LAST. You don’t want gasoline to be the last thing to exit the tube because it’ll light everything on the ground on fire.
