I have this same exact hard drive and i love it. It may not be able to play all optimized games, but it still plays a few of them. The transfer speeds from external to internal and vise versa are VERY fast, as opposed to the slow process of having to re install every time you want to re-play a game you were forced to uninstall to make space for a new one. And then of course there's that massive 8tb of external space that it gives the Xbox. Definitely worth it imo.
@@he-dp3mk It will play an optimized Assassins creed Origins and Odyssey, and like 2 or 3 other titles, but i can't remember them off the top of my head.
It’s not a lie, the amount displayed is the total capable volume of a drive, NOT the usable space… tho I do agree manufacturers SHOULD display the total usable volume
Thanks for the video (This one and the last). Trying to make up my mind about the Series S or X, but this video is gold for helping decide on storage. Currently using an Xbox One S (2TB) with an almost completely filled drive. I'm imagining I could just pull all of my stuff off of it and put it on a HDD drive and run it from there on a new Xbox. Keep on helping folks out. You are appreciated!
Thanks for watching and for commenting. I truly appreciate it. I personally knew I had to have a Series X over a Series S because I have a library of games on disc that I've collected over the years, so I really had to have that disc drive. Which that's a good way to look at storage too, like I tried my best to explain my use case for the 8tb drive in both videos, anyway point being I knew going in the 8tb HDD wouldn't play Xbox Series X/S games, but it will store them, and transfers them faster than I could do repeat downloads and that's more important to me, especially with my incredibly slow internet.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. I'm leaning more toward the Series X: I still have disk based 360 and XB1 games. It's incredible how popular all the gaming consoles' e-shops have become. I guess this goes hand in hand with disks becoming little more than keys for games nowadays with all of the Day 1 and post patch happening.
Oh it's a full blown subject for another video I think lol. But yeah, I like the series X, I like the 60fps, and the disc drive. I've also started hearing rumors that the Series S is "holding this console generation back" not my words, but the example is the new Gotham Knights game being locked at 30fps and the blame is going on the Series S.
Hey man thank you for the video. I am in the market for another drive and the 8TB is on my list. I have the Series S and Series X with the Seagate 2TB expansion card ($400) yes I went nuts on buying it. It is convenient but it is almost full after owning the systems and card for a month. It’s a shame you have to prove a point when people don’t (honestly) do full research. I watched your unboxing and now I see how it works. $200 is better than $400 lol keep up the good work! I subscribed and also hit the like button!
Thank you it's been more positive, than bad. Though, it's certainly not nice to be called a liar, I chose this drive for myself fully understanding that it couldn't play Series X/S games, but it is good storage and a lot of it, even more so when comparing the price options. The fact that it can't play like maybe 10% of my current games is whatever, especially since I don't have to redownload them when I do want to play them, just a quick transfer for the Series X/S games and it's good to go, and it can play that other 90% of games Xbox, 360, One, etc. Anyway, enough rambles, I really do appreciate it.
Thanks for showing the process of how the drive works. I guess people needed a visual example which version of games works with the drive. Sadly, many get confused and think external drives won't be able to play anything. Like halo mcc works on external, even though it has series x optimize logo.
Sorry for the delayed reply, and thanks for watching and commenting. Xbox, or Microsoft, whoever made the decisions could've made it a lot clearer as to how storage would work on the newer consoles. I personally could've done a lot better about explaining why I would warrant the purchase of a large capacity hard drive over an NVMe SSD for the Series X or S. It is a learning process and it took me 3 videos to get there, and I still get questions, or even insults, fairly regularly. But I'm glad when someone such as yourself can see the merit of my attempt or I know that I was able to help someone. So, thank you for letting me know that.
Thanks, this did actually help me, I'm hoping to get a new Xbox Series X next month and was going to get this same 8TB game hub to store games on because my brother told me he kept having to transfer back onto the internal drive for a lot of his games so your video really helped me understand why that happens. As for the person who said you were full of **it, ignore them and keep doing what you're doing. Unfortunately, we live in a world where everyone wants to bring others down to their level of unhappiness instead of help others rise to success (in whatever they are doing) or just doing something simple like being nice to another person.
Great video, new sub! I like the idea, and I’ll be picking up a drive this holiday season. Thank you! Also, no need to apologize bro. People are going to luv or hate the channel, but just stick to your purpose and be yourself. The following will come! Good luck and good work.
i have several Xboxes and two of these drives. i have Game Pass. i download a lot of games at my office bcuz of the higer speeds. then transfer the games to these two drives. i download all games i may feel like playing so i wont have to download them at home in case i feel like playing it. i have an XB1 at the office that i use to download. so i dont download the Series versions. so i can play the games off these drives on my Series consoles. and even if you want to play the Series version of games its fast to transfer them as Technobabble has stated.
I've got 494 digital games (that's before Game Pass and games with gold on top of that) which I don't want to have to keep downloading them, this drive has been perfect in the 3 weeks I've been using it and can also archive X|S games not being used to save the SSD space (internal 1tb and my 1tb expansion card) I intend to get the non Xbox branded version (same Seagate FireCuda running at 7200rpm as this) and pair that with my PS5 soon, got around 200 digital games on there, most of which are PS4
man I’m buying it for the same reason as you. For me is not that much because of the internet, but with the digital games I just prefer to have them storaged like this rather than download them every time or maybe I travel somewhere without a good internet connection, so I feel like more secure that I own them, since I’m not a huge fan of digital games also.
I have 2 external drives for older games and seagate 1tb expansion card for series x optimized games and have had no problems and with the latest update I have the non optimized games automatically install to the external drives
You can really buy any hard drive you like, but I do like the SeaGate myself, good price loads of storage. Plus, aesthetically it's a nice match to the Xbox if that's what you're getting it for. Anyway, thanks for watching and for commenting.
I fully understand what you said in the past and what you're saying now. I have the xbox Series X.. My external drive is WD my passport! It's 4tb. I got it for under £50.... I use it and play from the drive all my xbox one, Xbox OneX and 360 games. I also have series X /S games stored on the western digital my passport drive. When I want to play the X/S games I transfer them to internal memory super fast! 👍
It's a useful solution for those who are willing to see the merits, lower price bulk storage just makes sense to me. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting
Don't worry your videos are pretty informative. Just be yourself. As a small streamer to a youtuber that's the main thing your viewers look far. As long as you are having a good time, your viewers will too. But the one thing I have learned is when the hate comes along just never acknowledge lol it makes things more peaceful. Great video though it made me order myself one of these because i am lazy and would prefer to have my entire library on storage.
Thanks I was trying to figure out why some of the games had the arrow I tried searching everywhere cause I have a series x and no one had a video on it was kinda stressing out cause it’s a good bit of money thanks again for the video
I have two of these 8TB hard drives hooked up to my series x , i like to down load and keep every game that i own just incase. and i love them. one for my series and one games , the other for my one/360/ and originals
Thanks for this video!! Got super excited for that awesome Starfield external drive but when I found out that it couldn't play Starfield I was pretty disappointed. Now after seeing this I will probably still definitely get it since it is really useful in other ways like you said! Definitely subscribing to ya!
Sorry to hear that you can't play Starfield, I've been streaming it on my gaming channel. This drive wouldn't play it either unfortunately as it does require the internal storage on Xbox, and an SSD on PC. Like you say though, the drive is incredibly useful for other things, bulk storage so you don't have to deal with waiting on downloads is a big one for me or moving games and making room on that internal drive for Starfield lol. Thanks for the sub, and for watching and commenting.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Yeah, I thought it was really goofy that they made a Starfield branded one that can't even play the game but whatever! It's too cool to pass up on. Now I just have to figure out the size I want. Do you think 5tb is enough or should I just get the 8? The 8tb seems like it will take up a lot of space on my shelf 😂
I haven't seen the 5tb, the 8tb isn't massive though, it's hard drive sized really, it's just an enclosure with an 8tb drive in it. It's about as wide as the Series X is deep, if that makes sense, and about half as long as the X is tall if you stand the console vertically, also the 5tb is probably about the same size, because they are hard drives. Beyond the size I would personally base it more off what my library is, if you have a ton of huge games and intend to continue to build, 5tb may not last very long, especially with as many games as there are breaking that 100 gig mark. I upgraded to the 8tb from a 4tb that I had stuffed full of games.
I actually really like this question, but sadly I have no idea how the Xbox pulls the information about the speeds it shows you when doing transfers or downloads. The Xbox is also the only way I have tested the speeds of the drive so that's the data I have. The listed read/write speed of the drive as sold by SeaGate on Amazon is 480 Megabits per second, so I'm also really curious about this. Is it a case of the advertised 480 Megabits per second being the lowest speed SeaGate anticipates for the drives? Did the Xbox only put numbers up during my tests that coincide with what the internal drive is doing? I really don't know, but what I do have is footage of a large file transfer between the Xbox's internal storage and the SeaGate 8tb drive which you can check out here if you're interested. ruclips.net/video/Ka12_d8f-1Q/видео.html Thanks for watching and for commenting, I really wish I could give a more specific answer.
I stand by my curiosity, but no I cannot currently test it on a PC. Not without having to reformat the drive, which would erase all the data on it. If I had a backup 8tb drive, I would gladly test it without issue. Sorry I can't be of further help at this time.
I've spent the last hour digging around online and haven't found much more information, I am considering asking SeaGate and Xbox support services for information or insights. However, it's now the holiday season, so I don't know that I can get through to anyone until next week. I would like to ask them questions such as "how does SeaGate test the speeds of their drives." If the 480 Megabits per second, that they advertise is just an average number that would imply that the drives are indeed capable of faster speeds. I also would like to ask Xbox if they could tell me exactly how the Xbox reads speeds during transfers. I don't know that either will give me any information, but without a better way to test things for myself it's the best I can attempt to do in order to solve this mystery.
I have an Xbox series X and two external 8 TB hard drives.... As well as the 1 TB internal and the external proprietary 1 TB SSD. I currently have 17 games on my external proprietary hard drive. When I'm done with one of those games I put it on my hard drive and pick up a new one. Works great for me. All 1000 + games are all digital and at my fingertips anytime I want to play..
Truly appreciate your comment and thank you for watching the video. I like that you understand and also seem to have a large game library, mass storage is great, and is incredibly nice for those indecisive days, where it's like "so many channels and nothing is on", or you just feel like playing a different game on a different day. In my case I try to stream and record footage and it is incredibly nice to have a large majority of my games at my fingertips at any time, I don't have to wait for updates or installs (a true pain on slower internet) anyway, just wanted to say thanks!
I have a 4tb attached to my series x which formally was linked to my one x prior to getting it. You don't have to explain yourself. Anybody who owns an Xbox Series S or X knows that the games that doesn't require a SSD will run. IF someone is calling you a liar then they don't know because they don't have it. Keep doing what you do. Glad you popped up on my RUclips. All my Xboxes have externals for my Xbox One/360 bc games on both my Series consoles as well as a 1tb SSD card.
Any recommendations for an external drive? I have that Seagate memory card but want another external for my games that aren’t X that can be played off the external
@ROCKSTARMANIAC Really you can use any external drive you would've used on an Xbox One. The 8tb I talk about in the video, or really anything else you would want to get for older games. I have a couple drives listed in the description and the pinned comment.
dont know why people are so angry its great to store games on just move the games around if you need to play x/s games a lot quicker than deleting and re-downloading games
I could've done better about explaining what I wanted to say, and generally being clearer about it. Lessons learned hopefully. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So if I am understanding the way it works with the drives. On the external you can play old gen games off of them and store new-gen games but can't play new gen games off of them, that's only for the internal storage, however, you can transfer them in between in a matter of minutes all the while being 200$+ rather than 400$+ (or whatever the current price listing is). My biggest question though, does the games still benefit off of the console hardware like fast load times, the upped frame rate and resolutions?
Yeah that pretty well sums it up, and even a handful of Series X/S "upgraded" games will play off the drives, you can also do FPS boost and quick resume with games that support those features. Load times are fine, nothing special, someone else commented awhile back and I recorded some gameplay I think I mentioned the loading times in a comment as well, but can't remember the numbers. Anyway, loading feels about the same as it did on Xbox One. I don't know 100% for sure about resolutions though, I still just use 1080p TVs for everything, I believe since quick resume and FPS boost do work, the console would be what handles any upscaling and that wouldn't really be left up to the storage drives. Hope this helps.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Simply minted my friend. This answers pretty much everything just leaves up the bridge on load times but if they are like Xbox one X but slightly faster I am happy with that knowing the drive won't change the speeds. Thank you for helping me out.
About to get Series X but I have no idea why Microsoft has made this so complicated. Tbh i dont even know where to start if I should keep my external drive of 6TB that I used for Xbox One X or if I should buy the 8tb harddrive and the expansion card? You need the expansion card to play on Series X, you couldnt just buy the 8tb harddrive???
I'd say keep the 6tb, it will play all your Xbox One X and Xbox One/360 games (even a few Xbox Series X labeled games) If you have slow internet and plan to keep building your collection you can upgrade to the 8tb or larger down the road to keep from having to reinstall games. If you have fast internet keep the 6tb in use and invest in one or two of the NVMe drives for the XSX. They've come down some in price since they were released and 6tb will carry you as long as you want it to because downloads won't take very long, again if you have fast internet. More and more games as time goes on will require the new NVMe storage. Hopefully this helps some, thanks for watching and for commenting.
@TECHNOBABBLE thank you so much for replying back. I a honestly was getting a bit overwhelmed with everything and it made me just not want to get Series X at all fir a short while. I just didn't want to get the series X, get games like Street Fighter 6, MORTAL kombat 1, etc then essentially have the system tell me I couldn't play my games or my backup games. Hell I still have the download the Xbox series X free upgraded games when I get the system as well too. What would be the best NVMe storage? Definitely earning a subscription from me 👍
No problem, I hope to try and help.. For the series X there's two choices now. (There was only the Seagate before) But Western Digital sells a drive and Seagate sells them too. So really take your pick? Whichever fits your budget better? I haven't tested either of them yet so I don't know how much different they are from one another. I have the Seagate drive linked in the description (it's not affiliated I make no money from the link or purchase) it's written like "Xbox Proprietary 1TB SSD" (Edit: The Series X proprietary drives kinda look like old school PS2 or GameCube memory cards if you know those, helps differentiate. Otherwise a search for XSX expansion drive should work)
Sorry, they were rude. You kinda assume that people learn or know that all storage utilizes a percentage of the memory. Have 7 hard drives, countless USB sticks and an array of SD cards, ALL are rounded up. Pedantic, GOOD word. Thank you.
Great video. I saw Best Buy has a sale on the Starfield Seagate Xbox HDDs, so I was looking at the 8TB version. It makes me sad gamers don't know HDD differences as if research doesn't exist. The normal HDDs are great for storage and playing X1, X360 and OG Xbox games. There's a reason why they are cheaper than the SSD drives. Case in point, the Matrix demo runs only on the internal or external SSD drives. It's a great tech showcase but something that doesn't need to take up space on my SSDs, so I had it stored on my storage drives. Who knows if it gets delisted at some point, but I have it ready to go if I feel the need. Same goes for annual games like WWE. I have 2K22 and now 2K24. Do I need both on my SSD or store the old one away? These are great options, you can't go wrong! I saw some questions about the HDD remaining on. If you have "keep my library up to date", that's probably the reason why. I believe it checks for updates every now and then, and pings the install drives if there is one.
Just keep in mind, it won't play Xbox Series X/S games off the drive (well except for a random few that don't require the internal speeds) it's a good drive and I genuinely use it. Anyway hope it serves you well, thanks for watching and for commenting.
We had a drive that got that way, it was one of the little Seagate Gears of War branded portable drives. I genuinely have no idea what causes it. It wouldn't install a game and then kept constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. The drive is fine, it works on other Xbox's and has continued to work since reformatting it, but it was a pain to even get it to reformat.
It's nice to see a comment explaining this, well, nicely. I believe the issue stands, regardless of what the explanation may be, because most people aren't extremely computer literate. The vast majority of purchasers aren't going to know or care about the difference in terabytes or tebibytes, they're going to see that the console shows 7.3 instead of 8 and think 1,000 gigs equals 1 terabyte. So why am I missing 700 gigs? Even in my case, with as many explanations as I have received, why can I buy a 500 gig WD NVMe drive, and get 500 gigs? But not an 8TB and get 8TB?
It's bad marketing, and bad salesmanship. Which, the naming conventions for technology could be, simpler. USB and HDMI standards are great examples and none of it does well or properly informs the average consumer.
But can you play the games will being in the internal drive 8T because it stills me it can’t be played will being in the Internal drive and I have to transfer it into the Xbox 😢😢😢
For some Xbox Series games yes, and going down the line there will be more and more games that require the internal drives speeds. There are some games that got the X/S upgrade than can be played off of this drive. But the idea I wanted to share/ the point I wanted to make is this is a good drive for storage. Especially if you have slower internet it's much faster to transfer a game, than download it.
If you mean on Gamepass then, yes and no, if they take games off gamepass and you don't own them you cannot play them anymore. If it's digital games that you have bought and "own" and just want to keep them installed on a drive then yes, ish. Because if they get delisted from the store usually they're supposedly reinstallable at any time. So, it shouldn't be necessary but I understand the concern. It is also good for games you intend to download from Gamepass, unless they require the Xbox Series S or X internal storage speeds, in which case it would tell you that you can install the game on the drive but it would need to be transferred to internal storage in order to be played however not all Series X/S badged games require the console's internal storage. The drive works well for and will play Xbox One, select Series X/S games and all backwards compatible games from the 360 and original Xbox. It won't play all Series X/S games. It does make for good storage, for all types of Xbox games, and transferring between this drive and the internal storage can be faster than internet downloads of larger games, so if you work and don't want to waste time waiting on downloads it can help to have those X/S games installed on an external drive like this and just transfer them over in minutes instead of waiting hours for downloads. Hopefully this helps and answers any questions you may have.
Yes, it will download Series X games, it will not play the majority of them however. (It will download, store, and allow you to transfer them to internal at typically much faster speeds than a download unless you have amazingly fast internet)
i just bought one idc that it can't play series x games I just needed the storage was a nice cheaper alternative I'd recommend for storing your old gen games on
got this yesterday. Does it always stay on? mine seems to stay powered on even when my console is off. my ps5 seagate powers down when console is off. was wondering if this was normal
It seems to me like that mine stays on for a while after the console is powered down, I'm not sure what sort of communication goes on between the two devices in order to tell the drive whether it should turn on or off. So, I think it's normal that the drive stays on
Certainly not full of 💩 Received the exact 8TB Hub today and yes surprisingly quick transfers from internal to the hub and vice versa. Also have the Seagate 2TB Expansion and moving from it to Hub and vice versa pretty quick for an external HDD. Whisper quiet and as the man said you can play (from what I can tell so far) any game that does not require internal or expansion for gameplay. So if you want to keep your Series X internal storage and if you have one, the insanely priced Seagate 1 or 2TB Expansion for only the games that are optimized (as I do) this Hub is excellent. Had it not been for this gentleman taking the time to make these videos I would never have tried it. Thanks again. New subscriber here. people are confused between downloading the game and transfering the game to their internal drive to play it. maybe make a video showing you transfer the series x/s games so that they are playable. i think that will help clear it up for the slow people. thanks for the videos
I just got one 8tb. And I think that's useless. Because every time when I would like to play some games I need to transfer them every single time now all of the games come on series X. How I can make the games to work on my drive?
It doesn't exactly work that way, certain X/S games will work, ones that were "upgraded" but also worked on Xbox One beforehand will work. Games that were built from the ground up for the X/S won't work. This is a hard drive, not an NVMe drive. My original videos weren't made or worded the best, the drive makes for good storage if you have a poor internet connection like I did at the time, keeping games downloaded and stored would be easier and simpler for some people than having to redownload them, transfers can be faster than some peoples internet connection. This drive will play Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games without any issue, and like I've said it'll play certain X/S upgraded games, examples I have of those upgraded games are ones like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Special Edition, FarCry 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, The Division 2. These games are all "X/S" games that were "upgraded" from Xbox One games that now have X/S capabilities and will launch and play off the hard drive.
hi! im new to your channel and just want to say keep going, just ignore such comments, and you'll grow a big channel to a big audience. and i also do use an external drive on my series s.
Okay so just to confirm this isn’t an 8tb version of the 1tb version of the small Xbox storage thing that Xbox sell? It’s just another standard external hard drive with a flashy green light that is the same as any standard seagate external hardrive?
No, it just does a transfer, usually hovers around 300 Mbps for the speed of the transfer, and some (not all) but some series X/S games will actually play off the drive. Like some of the Xbox One games that got X/S upgrades, will still load and play off the hard drive. The Xbox will tell you when games cannot play from it.
I would assume so, the console has multiple USB ports so I don't know why the Xbox would have issues with it. The drive does require power from a wall plug though, so you'd have to keep that in mind. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting.
This is a great drive considering the cost of the drive, its quality, and services. I'm not sure why someone would complain about it not being NVME, of course it's not NVME, it's a bulk storage.
These drives are great for series X/S, transfer speed from a hard drive is about 10 GB per minute. It isn't a big deal to transfer, and saves you a big chunk of money.
Totally agree. I ran some tests for another commentor, it took around 26 minutes to transfer GTA Online, the XSX version, which is 110 gigs, from the external to the internal drive. Much faster than I could've downloaded it. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
These spinning drives are very slow and annoyingly noisy compared to external SSD or NVMe in enclosure. You will understand when slowest drive you have reads and writes at 500+ MB/s (4 Gb/s). Slowest drive I have connected to Series X is cheap 2TB Kingston NV1 (2100 MB/s read and 1700 MB/s write) in ASUS' Arion enclosure. I know it's way too fast for console's 5 Gb/s (625 MB/s) USB ports.
ruclips.net/video/Ka12_d8f-1Q/видео.html I actually have an unlisted video showcasing transfers back and forth between the two drives. IIRC it is real time, so a bit of a boring watch. In previous tests it took 26 minutes and 22 seconds to transfer GTA Online from the external drive to the internal drive, which was 110 gigs at the time of that test. Hopefully this helps your question.
thinking about series s and have been looking at this drive being i can't afford x and haven't gamed in some time being i have 360 still. thanks for confirmation that many say it doesn't work . i don't mind tranfering to internal . even though i know have fiber zero copper now but still can't spend 500 on x so this was my thought too. for $70
If at all possible I would try to hold off and wait to save up an get a Series X. There are rumors, and quotes from game developers circulating around that they want to end support for the Series S because it's "holding this generation back" I completely understand being on a tight budget though, and the Series S will be a huge leap from the Xbox 360 without a doubt. Wish you well, and good gaming. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Annoyingly so, the games I mostly play, that are new, are like 110 GB a pop. So it’s tougher to transfer back and forth since I have so little space. But I might utilize this for when MW3 comes out, so I can keep Starfield and MW3 on internal.
Transfers are faster than downloads in my case, I personally prefer to have the games installed so I can transfer them over, rather than have to download them when I intend to play them. The drive and other hard drives can play some of the series X/S games. I commented a list of the ones I have that it will allow to play to someone else a little while back. Usually, it'll be games that got a Series X/S upgrade after the consoles came out. Like Far Cry 5 or Halo MCC, some others.
I rlly want this due to storage issues when I have airflight sim. Cyberpunk. Re7 village . And etc. And it looks cool. Hows the transfer speed with hdd and does it store most games. Oh and congratz on 214 subs + 1 :)
Thank you, I ran a test for another commenter so I'll share that at the end here. The 8tb will hold any console generation of games, and will play some X/S badged games, they are the exception not the rule, I don't know how some get the badge but don't require the internal speeds. Now the test results are as follows. I transferred GTA Online as a test, 110 GB. From the internal, and from the external. • From internal to external 36 minutes and 43 seconds. • From the external to the internal 26 minutes and 22 seconds. Transfer speeds tend to hang around 280mbps, upwards to 300, sometimes even hits a gigabyte, rarely dips below 200mbps. So if you have gigabit internet, a storage drive isn't as necessary, as the gigabit internet could potentially be faster, in that case maybe just invest in an expansion card to store games as internal. Thanks again and I hope this helps.
I don't have a MAC but if other external drives work, then I don't know why it wouldn't. I have the SeaGate 8tb external listed in the description and the pinned comment (if it's still pinned) there's an 8tb listed there that does not have the Xbox branding that is slightly cheaper, unless you just want the Xbox branded one for the looks. The links are not affiliated, so I don't make anything from it, I just hope to be helpful.
Hey brother I enjoyed your video the only thing is that you failed to explain that enhanced s&x games/and games made just for the s&x must be stored on the internal hard drive to be played so you can upload a game from your external drive to the internal storage and it'll play fine !! But You can't play those games off an external drive that's what people don't understand. After watching your video I'm going to purchase one of those drives my two terabyte is running out external thanks for your video I subscribed
Thanks for watching and for commenting, I truly appreciate it. 01:30 - I did my best in the video to explain that the Xbox does indeed tell you that you have to transfer the X/S games to the internal storage, though there are some games that are exceptions to the rule such as Sniper Elite 4 and Gears 4 that have the X/S badge but do not require the internal storage. Also made note of it in the description of the video.
how long would it take to transfer a 100gb game from external to internal drive? ... how many games can you actually play from external drive, is warzone maybe playable from external? and is there any performance loss when playing on external drive? or just bigger loading times?
I'll get back to you on the transfer times, I've started transferring GTA Online 110GB, and have a stop watch going at the same time. Warzone 1, does not require the internal storage. I don't know about the alleged Warzone "2" that's supposed to come with MW2. Also you can see the gameplay from Gears 4 or Sniper Elite 4 in my video, both are installed on the external drive. Once a playable game is loaded it runs just as well as it ever has off an external drive, no, it's not as fast as the NVME would be, so load times can be a bit slower.
I have finished running the GTA Online test, 110 GB. From the internal, and from the external. • From internal to external 36 minutes and 43 seconds. • From the external to the internal 26 minutes and 22 seconds. If you need video proof I can post it, if you're satisfied with my word alone, I hope this was helpful. I like having the 8tb, because, 300mbps, even a 200mbps transfer is still faster than my internet. So, truly hope this helps.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. no proof needed, thank you for such a detailed answer ... expansion card are a bit expensive, i was thinking about external hdd as it is the cheapest option, those transfer times are not bad, half an hour for a big game is i think acceptable
Yes, and some of the games that got upgraded to X/S still work despite having the X/S badge. Gears 4 I think is an example, I have listed a few in other comments before, games that got "upgraded" but will still work on this hard drive. Edit: Gears 4 is not an example, but Assassin's Creed Odyssey is. Certain Xbox One games that were "upgraded" to have X/S capabilities can be launched from the drive, but not all.
Got a question I already have a 5tb storage I want to get another 5tb but will that damage my Xbox? Because the 8tb connects to an outlet so having two 5tb on the Xbox will it be ok?
I've not tried it myself. So I don't know for sure, that said, I don't know and can't think of any reason it would do damage to the Xbox. If you want to be extra safe, I'd suggest to do some more in depth research. Here's a link to an article I just found: www.vintageisthenewold.com/game-pedia/can-you-connect-multiple-external-hard-drives-to-xbox-one#:~:text=You%20can%20connect%20up%20to,8TB%20external%20%2B%202TB%20internal). I don't how the validity of it or how they tested it. I have another powered HDD enclosure that I used on my Xbox One, if I can source another hard drive I'll test it out first hand and relay you the results. I have an old drive from an old PC, but I don't know if it works, so I'll test it later today. Hopefully for the time being this helps.
Update, the old hard drive I had tucked away, is 20 gigs and was made in 2001. So, definitely not compatible with the Xbox. Sorry for the news, I do wish I could do a proper test.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. thank you very munch for testing and reaching out. I’ve read here and there Reddit post and other areas and many don’t say it will if anything it’s possible so why would it damage your system.
I would imagine that the Xbox's USB ports have voltage protection, I don't know how to test that, but I do have good news in another form, I remembered that I have another different old hard drive that was still in an old PC. So I should be able to test that one on the Xbox (this one actually has SATA connectors, and is 500 gigs) (Edit: the benefits and downfall of being a techy and furthermore a tech hoarder, I have old tech stuff laying around everywhere)
Sorry, not meaning to spam replies, I have tested it with the 500 gig in an enclosure like I mentioned in my previous comment, and it works as far as turning on and recognizing the drive. How it would fair being used over a longer amount of time I can't say for sure. Keep an eye out, I recorded the whole thing, and I will hopefully be able to put up a video answering your question soon. Probably not a great video, but a video.
how long does it take to transfer a game from external storage (HDD) to internal storage (SSD) for example a game that weighs more than 50gb, sorry for my English I'm using a translator
Thanks for watching and commenting. I ran a test for another commenter so I'll share those results. Hope this helps.
I have the same drive on my series x just only got none x/s games on it and it works fine just certain x/s games won’t work off it but fine if you have a few none x/s games as I do, had xboxes for over 15 years so got loads of older games
Xbox Series X/S games are starting to grow in number, and the 8tb drive can be used to store them to avoid redownloading them, that was the point of my original video. One of my favorite things about the Xbox, the reason why I "main" my Xbox, is because of the backwards compatibility, you can basically play 4 generations of consoles on the Series X or S and it's awesome, some exceptions cause some games weren't made backwards compatible, but that's all cause of developers and licensing and what all. Anyway, thanks for watching and for commenting.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. your welcome mate does what it says on the tin as we say in the UK had an xbox since my original crystal xbox and had every generation since also got a kishi remote so I can play while on holiday on my phone best platform out of all of them
I have my issues with the Xbox lol, but that's a subject for another video, got a script cooking and everything. Definitely will take some heat when that one gets made lol. It is my preferred console though, I do love the Xbox, hopefully they can get their "stuff" together and get some exclusives coming out. I do miss Fable... Anyway, thanks again!
No I don't think so. Any expansion drive has to be formatted by the Xbox in order to store games. Whereas a PC would want to format the drive as NTFS. You can format a drive as NTFS on a PC and use it on the Xbox to record longer videos using the console's capture ability but again it won't work to store games. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
This is the first time I've ran across your video and I see you have an extensive game library. So I just wanted to ask seeing ads all you games seem to be digital are the games truly Yours Or can they be taken from you by a company like Xbox if they choose to do so So what I'm asking is is your digital property Yours??? and can it be played Anytime you want without Internet?
That's a question everyone should love an answer to, whether or not digital assets should be considered property or if you're just "renting" a license for a one time fee. Or in the case of Xbox Gamepass, a monthly rental fee. Also, I have far more games on disc than I think you think lol a huge portion of my library is used games I got over the years. However even a physical game disc can have its own issues, breaks down over time, slight scratching even. Definitely an interesting subject for discussion one in which I don't have the best answer, or the most knowledge. Thanks for watching and for commenting though, appreciate it.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Thanks for the quick answer I just wanted to ask because as a long time gamer I told people when gaming companies started this Digital age gaming thing that it was a BAD IDEA to buy digital games because they would not own them and that gaming companies would be able to snatch them. Anytime they wanted to, I have also NEVER been a fan of the cloud. And now gaming companies are doing exactly what I said they would to fellow gamers and now they are making fans who thought they owned games that they bought for $60.00 and more I Completely believe that there are So many upsides to digital and also having your OWN PERSONAL cloud that can not be accessed by companies and also to take all of your hard copy Or disc game's which I have a lot of and make them all digital and to be put in your own personal library and you can play them without a disk however you will always have your disk as a backup I want to do this myself as a gamer. I think this is an Amazing way to keep and own games. You buy the disk, make it digital, then put the disk somewhere safe so you always have a backup.
I've actually wanted to look into it myself, particularly for old games, being able to back up ROMs for GameCube games as an extremely specific example. The prices on those games has skyrocketed, and it just makes sense to find a good way to back them up digitally because the physical copies cannot last forever. Thank you for the interesting conversation seriously, and I do have some scripts I've been working on, for videos discussing some of these topics. I won't disclose much now, but you've made me way more excited to work on those videos.
I used to be a big fan of Battlefield, it tapered off for me with Battlefield V, and I've only tried the beta for 2042. I have all 3 Dead Space games on disc. Anyway, a lot of EA games are on EA play which is integrated with Gamepass Ultimate so they get the EA Play "badge" whether you've bought them or not. Which doesn't sound any better lol, I think the actual last EA game I payed for was Mass Effect Andromeda, or Battlefield V, I don't remember the release dates. But yeah, I used to like stuff they made. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Load speeds do vary by game, and honestly the Series X's internal NVMe has spoiled me a bit. So, if you're accustomed to NVMe drives then yeah it'll feel slow. It took 1 minute, 14 seconds to launch Gears of War 4 from the hard drive. That's from launching the game to the title screen "Press A to Play" without skipping any of the developer 'animations'? I can snag a comparison video if you have a specific game or anything in mind though. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
Yes, and no. I will say that it could "degrade" performance just because it will have slower loading times than the Series X internal drive will. Quality though, I don't think so, most Series X/S games cannot be played from the drive (there are a handful that can be, and they seem to run fine at 60fps, just with slower loading times) but since most X/S games cannot be played and only stored, does it make a difference? I don't think so, since most of my reasoning behind the drive is to be able to keep multiple modern massive games up to date and transfer them on and off the console when I want to play them, rather than waiting hours for games to download. The other large portion of my reasoning for buying this drive is backlog and extended library, I can keep a large amount of Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games installed and ready to play at all times. (Great for easily recording content at a moment's notice) With all that said, as far as gaming at like 4k or how things like HDR holds up, I unfortunately cannot currently test that. (Steam charts for 2023 still say that most people play at 1080p even on PC, so doesn't seem like it would really be that large of a factor) apologies for running on a bit, hopefully this information is helpful, thank you for watching and for commenting.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. helped me more than enough! main reason i'm wanting to get one is due to the series s having little space but i saw a lot about it degrading the quality of the game and how you can't play the enhanced series s version of games on it don't worry at all about "running on" , it's passion and i appreciate it a lot thanks for the help , you've gained a new subscriber !❤️
I can be hit or miss, depends on environmental factors and how well you take care of it. Don't move it when it's powered on. I've got a hard drive I've been using since sometime way back on my Xbox One, it's a 4tb IIRC and I've moved it into my PC, it's still going and still playing games.
Dude I feel bad for you I really do but you don't understand how the internet works as you get bigger you're going to get more people that's going to get smart with you you're going to get trolls so you're going to address every single troll good luck
Learn difference between terabyte (TB) vs tebibyte (TiB) and gigabyte (GB) vs gibibyte (GiB). 8 terabyte drive is indeed 8 terabytes (8000000000000 bytes). Computers don't see it like that because they don't use base-10, they use base-2. To computer that 8 terabytes looks like: 8000000000000 ÷ 1024⁴ = 7,28 tebibytes.
I’m not trying to jump on you but dude anyone who has dealt with tech knows any drive has system files security files especially if it’s on a proprietary system like a Xbox and more. So you will never get the actual size of the drive. It’s been like that forever. It’s the way it is. When you buy a car there are fees and taxes etc you don’t count on. Cell phone service is the same way
Not really the point I was trying to get at. They sell it as 8tb, and sure it is the way it is, but you're never getting what they slap on the box. They could allocate the space beyond the 8tb, and sell you actual 8tb of storage. But 7.3, or 3.5, anything along those lines doesn't sound as nice for marketing as to just say the total capacity of the drive, not the usable capacity.
Don’t sweat it too much babble, keep at it you’ll work it out. I refuse to spend 300 Australian dollaryroos for 1TB of storage so I got this 8TB seagate instead & it’s great. I also have crap internet so when they hit Gamepass I just download them to the 8TB & when I’m ready I swap them to play. It’s not perfect but it sure beats waiting 5+ hours to wait for download to play. 🤘😎🤘
Lol, absolutely the point I was trying to make. Hopefully I can get better at wording things and eventually be able to provide multiple examples when doing such a video. Anyway, thanks for watching and for commenting.
It's definitely going to help you don't address people it doesn't matter how much you address them they're going to stay here getting smart with you and trolling you I hope you learn this real quick or you're going to have a hard time on RUclips just some advice if you don't want to listen that's when you just here to let you know it's not going to stop you're a public figure either you learn how to deal with it or you get off of RUclips because it's not going to stop
I'm not being smart I'm not here to be ignorant towards you it seems like you're already getting enough hassle just don't address them you're going to learn that very fast
I've been on RUclips ever since I was 14 before Google acquired RUclips so I know a little bit just trying to help like I said if you choose to listen that's on you I am now 36
I completely understand where you're coming from, I do pick and choose my battles, some aren't worth fighting and if you read a lot of the comments, I think at least, that they're the ones making themselves look foolish. However, at the same time, I also believe that I have to stand for what I believe, and if I was to go and ignore it all completely, I'm letting them win just as badly as trying to argue with the trolls. Especially in the sense that I'm not the best video or "content creator" on RUclips. I'm still relatively new to this and may not think to look at all the points or issues other people may think about, so I can take those comments with issues that have been pointed out, those issues I may have not clearly addressed in my original video and try to make it, make more sense. It's all certainly a learning process. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
They don't care how you feel you're just giving them what they want they're laughing I bet you any money this what they want they want you to address them just don't do it please just giving you some advice
I suppose i am the complete opposite too you guys. So the path i went, i got my Series X day one console. Around 6 months later, i got a Series S. Now i did this because there are a lot of smaller games that don't need all the bells and whistles that the Series X can perform. So i filled the lesser Series S console, with a FEW games, and there in lies the word i will come back too..... a few games. Now about 2 months ago, i got a new Series X. Yes, i could have got the official 1TB external storage, but the price they want for that, i paid an extra £140, and got a brand new Series X with 4yr guarantee from Curry's. The reason i got the new Series X, is simply because my bread and butter of games is online shooters. I have 3 groups of pals and we all play different shooters. CoD MP, CoD WZ, BF2042, BFV, Insurgency Sandstorm, Destiny 2, Rainbow 6, Apex and MW2 pre ordered. These games are pretty big, so i have a dedicated console for just online shooters. I have all of those downloaded because i genuinely play them all weekly. On my day one Series X, i have Tiny Tina's Wonderland, Skyrim, Ghost Recon Breakpoint..... That's it. On my Series S, i actually now have my film library, music library, and about 4 smaller games. Now this is what i don't get about these people that buy 8TB, 4TB storage and download 50 plus games..... why? lol. I mean unless you are a lay about slob, sponge off benefits, or just don't have a life and play games all day, never finishing them, then yeah..... maybe i get it. I'm lucky enough too work from home, i workout and in the evening, depending on the day, i play the online shooters. If i'm not tired, i'll do a couple missions from a campaign title. Weekends, i usually do the story driven campaign games, and a bit online. Now i am only just managing to keep track of the story in Skyrim, Ghost Recon and Tiny Tina..... That's just 3 games that i have hours of play time too get through, so why would i or anyone want another 50 plus games downloaded? So these people with mammoth storage options....why? It would be like a multi billionaire owning acres of land and a masses and masses of garages, filling them with 60, 70 cars..... at first you'd look and say ''Woah'', but then you'd would think ''Why''. You can only drive one car at a time, you only travel so far per day..... only 7 days in a week.... so why so many cars?'' This guys video........ The amount of games is ridiculous!!! If he never worked and just sat down gaming 10hrs a day and went through the games alphabetically, he could play solid for 6 months and only get too games starting with C lol. These manufacturers that sell and price these things, really see some of you coming, because if you have one of these drives, if you have 50 plus games on there, then either They are on there because you haven't started it yet, therefore why have it downloaded? They are on there because you started and got bored.... So why have it on there? They are on there because you started and got side tracked by another game..... So why keep it on there? So again..... Why? lol. I understand starting 1, 2 or 3 games and having them going at once, but 50, 60 games?.......... Really?
You're absolutely not wrong, not in the slightest. I mean buying a second Xbox just to store more games seems a bit, excessive, but nobody truly "needs" 8tb of storage, because exactly like you said you can only play one at a time. Me? I'm trying to run 3 different RUclips channels, trying is a keyword, and one of those is a gaming channel, so it is incredibly nice and convenient to be able to record anything from any game I have at any time. So maybe, in the same aspect as some of the more, degrading, comments I've gotten, use and usefulness is subjective. My use case is convenience, my reasoning is affordability, and no I'm not here to sell anyone anything. None of my channels are big enough to even monetize, so I'm not getting paid to sell anyone anything. I had hoped to be helpful, because there are people who have use for, or to themselves see a use for such a thing. Plus, not everyone can afford to just buy an extra Xbox, the same as not everyone wants 8tbs of game storage. (Edits: Some grammar, clarity, and this is just a note about me. I have been playing games pretty much my whole life, my collection, in particular on Xbox comes from around 12 years of buying games on sale, sometimes free with gold, sometimes free with other games, sometimes used, and playing, and beating them. Have I completed my entire library? No, but it's the gamers curse, a never-ending backlog of games, some just suck, and others fall to the wayside for the new new pretty pretty shiny shiny, anyway, hope this clarifies a few things)
Wait.. I have been reading and re-reading your comment since I saw it. It's incredibly long and slightly confusing. So, you're telling everyone here, that 8tb is pretty much pointless, but you have 3 Xbox consoles? Two series X consoles and a series S, and that was a better deal to you than to just buy a hard drive or an expansion card? Also, how did you find your way to my video, if you're so against storage you'd rather just buy 3 consoles? I mean weird flex, and you do you but... What?
I felt like I needed it cuz of big games like airflight sim and cyberpunk but I think ill settle with 4tb still cheaper than the 1tb xbox series x drive 🤣
You really wrote that wall of text? It doesn't have to make sense to you, just like it doesn't make sense for you to have a dedicated Series X for online shooters when you could've just got the 2TB expansion card and called it a day. Stop worrying about how other people use their systems.
I'm just trying to help you out and you addressing trolls and people that's being smart towards you it's not going to help out your Channel you're giving them what they want and they're probably sitting back laughing at you just check other big channels
What optimised games does it play? I thought it could only play xbox one and previous games
@@he-dp3mk It will play an optimized Assassins creed Origins and Odyssey, and like 2 or 3 other titles, but i can't remember them off the top of my head.
The main reason for this drive is so you don't have to keep on downloading the games. I use this drive too.
Privileged kids with 1gb/sec download speed will never understand
I have the Seagate 8 TB on my X Box 1S. It's about 8 yrs old now and has been fantastic. I have 275 games stored on it. I want to get a Series X !!!
It’s not a lie, the amount displayed is the total capable volume of a drive, NOT the usable space… tho I do agree manufacturers SHOULD display the total usable volume
It’s displayed in the drive UI, I mean drives are preloaded all you have to do is delete files.
It doesn't matter how much you want to help people you're going to get people that don't like you
Thanks for the video (This one and the last).
Thank you, thanks for the sub and for watching and commenting
Need more RUclipss like you just saved my Christmas gift
Thank you, glad I could help
i have several Xboxes and two of these drives. i have Game Pass. i download a lot of games at my office bcuz of the higer speeds. then transfer the games to these two drives. i download all games i may feel like playing so i wont have to download them at home in case i feel like playing it. i have an XB1 at the office that i use to download. so i dont download the Series versions. so i can play the games off these drives on my Series consoles.
and even if you want to play the Series version of games its fast to transfer them as Technobabble has stated.
Thanks for watching and for commenting, also super jealous that you can have an Xbox at work lol
👍👍 Very helpful. Made my decision to purchase after your videos etc. Thank you
Glad to be helpful, thank you for watching and commenting.
I enjoyed the video. Very informative keep up the good work bro and thanks!
Thank you for watching and commenting
I've got 494 digital games (that's before Game Pass and games with gold on top of that) which I don't want to have to keep downloading them, this drive has been perfect in the 3 weeks I've been using it and can also archive X|S games not being used to save the SSD space (internal 1tb and my 1tb expansion card)
I intend to get the non Xbox branded version (same Seagate FireCuda running at 7200rpm as this) and pair that with my PS5 soon, got around 200 digital games on there, most of which are PS4
man I’m buying it for the same reason as you.
Thank you for the video. Best explanation I've found about this HDD. You really convinced me to buy it.
Do you have to power it on every time you use it, or does it just automatically turn on?
It automatically comes on when the Xbox is turned on and it turns off shortly after the Xbox is powered down.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Okay. Thank you. I was confused with the whole power button on the back.
Thanks I was trying to figure out why some of the games had the arrow I tried searching everywhere cause I have a series x and no one had a video on it was kinda stressing out cause it’s a good bit of money thanks again for the video
No problem, thanks for watching and commenting
I have two of these 8TB hard drives hooked up to my series x , i like to down load and keep every game that i own just incase. and i love them. one for my series and one games , the other for my one/360/ and originals
Yeah most of the Xbox Series games do
Thanks for this video!!
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Okay, thanks for sharing your experiences!
can you explain why this HDD writes with 800mb/s? How is that possible?
I actually really like this question, but sadly I have no idea how the Xbox pulls the information about the speeds it shows you when doing transfers or downloads. The Xbox is also the only way I have tested the speeds of the drive so that's the data I have. The listed read/write speed of the drive as sold by SeaGate on Amazon is 480 Megabits per second, so I'm also really curious about this. Is it a case of the advertised 480 Megabits per second being the lowest speed SeaGate anticipates for the drives? Did the Xbox only put numbers up during my tests that coincide with what the internal drive is doing? I really don't know, but what I do have is footage of a large file transfer between the Xbox's internal storage and the SeaGate 8tb drive which you can check out here if you're interested. ruclips.net/video/Ka12_d8f-1Q/видео.html
Thanks for watching and for commenting, I really wish I could give a more specific answer.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. could you connect it to a PC or Mac & test the speed?
I stand by my curiosity, but no I cannot currently test it on a PC. Not without having to reformat the drive, which would erase all the data on it. If I had a backup 8tb drive, I would gladly test it without issue. Sorry I can't be of further help at this time.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. but you are 100% sure its no ssd?
I have an Xbox series X and two external 8 TB
hard drives....

I have 2tb seagate gamedrive xbox one. 1year working. On series S.
Glad to hear from a true gamer lol. Thanks for the words of encouragement, and for watching and commenting.
I use the drive myself and it’s one of the best I have used personally.
You're welcome, it's no problem at all. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I just got the 8tb for the Xbox white series x/s so can I transfer stuff fast
Huh?
I have the Seagate drive linked in the description (it's not affiliated I make no money from the link or purchase) it's written like "Xbox Proprietary 1TB SSD"
(Edit: The Series X proprietary drives kinda look like old school PS2 or GameCube memory cards if you know those, helps differentiate.
Thank you.
They're not lying about the storage. They should not sell it based on usable space since this can vary depending on how you use it.
You hover over the game click manage game and addons>file info if it says gen:durango it can be on the external gen:Scarlett requires internal drive
thanks for the good advice! going to order one now great job with the video.
Just keep in mind, it won't play Xbox Series X/S games off the drive (well except for a random few that don't require the internal speeds) it's a good drive and I genuinely use it. Anyway hope it serves you well, thanks for watching and for commenting.
Mine keeps connecting and disconnecting and it’s really annoying and doesn’t work
And I’m about to return it
We had a drive that got that way, it was one of the little Seagate Gears of War branded portable drives. I genuinely have no idea what causes it. It wouldn't install a game and then kept constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. The drive is fine, it works on other Xbox's and has continued to work since reformatting it, but it was a pain to even get it to reformat.
I think it’s in tebibytes which is much larger than a terabyte and it would be 8.026 TB or 7.27596 TiB for exactly 8 trillion bytes
@@TECHNOBABBLE. I guess you’re right on that people aren’t really well knowing about tebibytes
It's bad marketing, and bad salesmanship. Which, the naming conventions for technology could be, simpler. USB and HDMI standards are great examples and none of it does well or properly informs the average consumer.
Great video bro! Thank you

Wud it be true to say that this cud also be useful for games they discontinue on their pass aswell as then u don't lose it?
I use this on my PC as an external storage unit. It's great!
Cant reformat this thing. I want to repurpose it and use a SSD for more game storage
So I can't download series X games? That bullshit, it says series x on the box.
So, I think it's normal that the drive stays on
i just got the 4tb seagate, no regerts
It’s good to store older games/passed games pretty much it
people are confused between downloading the game and transfering the game to their internal drive to play it. maybe make a video showing you transfer the series x/s games so that they are playable. i think that will help clear it up for the slow people. thanks for the videos
Thank you, and thanks for watching and commenting
Okay so just to confirm this isn’t an 8tb version of the 1tb version of the small Xbox storage thing that Xbox sell? It’s just another standard external hard drive with a flashy green light that is the same as any standard seagate external hardrive?
Yep
If I was to add games to the hdd when I add them back to my Xbox would it have to download them
No, it just does a transfer, usually hovers around 300 Mbps for the speed of the transfer, and some (not all) but some series X/S games will actually play off the drive. Like some of the Xbox One games that got X/S upgrades, will still load and play off the hard drive. The Xbox will tell you when games cannot play from it.
Does quick resume work on this drive?
Yes, games that the drive will play do allow for quick resume. I can record footage if you'd like.
Can i connect 2 of these on my Xbox series x?
I would assume so, the console has multiple USB ports so I don't know why the Xbox would have issues with it. The drive does require power from a wall plug though, so you'd have to keep that in mind. Hope this helps, thanks for watching and commenting.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. so i only need two more wall plug
They come with everything you need to plug them in
This is a great drive considering the cost of the drive, its quality, and services. I'm not sure why someone would complain about it not being NVME, of course it's not NVME, it's a bulk storage.
Thank you for good info👍🏻
How fast are the XFER speeds from Internal > HDD and back
ruclips.net/video/Ka12_d8f-1Q/видео.html
I actually have an unlisted video showcasing transfers back and forth between the two drives.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. gotcha,
Annoyingly so, the games I mostly play, that are new, are like 110 GB a pop. So it’s tougher to transfer back and forth since I have so little space. But I might utilize this for when MW3 comes out, so I can keep Starfield and MW3 on internal.
I bought this newer 4TB drive thinking it could use the optimized games, but it can’t. I’ll just have to get a new SSD at some point
Thanks again and I hope this helps.
i appreciate the video bc im looking to buy one.
No problem, if you have any further questions feel free to ask. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Can you put a ssd in it?
Can I use this drive for my Mac as an external instead of a gaming external?
Glad to help, and thanks for watching and for commenting
thank you for the video appreciate it
No problem!
ok so any game taht isnt series x or s works?
Here's a link to an article I just found:

It's a good drive but you are right it miss guide you from wanting a game drive for Xbox series x that can be used for all games on Xbox series x
how long does it take to transfer a game from external storage (HDD) to internal storage (SSD) for example a game that weighs more than 50gb, sorry for my English I'm using a translator
Thanks for watching and commenting. I ran a test for another commenter so I'll share those results.
Just brought mine last month, was wondering if you can have your mods work to your pc from the gaming hub n think I kinda explain it lol
@@TECHNOBABBLE. Thank you!
i had a 4tb with the xbox 1x it was great but with the xbox sx the WD Black 2tb SSD works great at least for me
This is the first time I've ran across your video and I see you have an extensive game library. So I just wanted to ask seeing ads all you games seem to be digital are the games truly Yours Or can they be taken from you by a company like Xbox if they choose to do so
So what I'm asking is is your digital property Yours???
and can it be played Anytime you want without Internet?
Thanks for the quick answer I just wanted to ask because as a long time gamer I told people when gaming companies started this
Digital age gaming thing that it was a BAD IDEA to buy digital games because they would not own them and that gaming companies would be able to snatch them. Anytime they wanted to, I have also NEVER been a fan of the cloud. And now gaming companies are doing exactly what I said they would to fellow gamers and now they are making fans who thought they owned games that they bought for $60.00 and more I Completely believe that there are So many upsides to digital and also having your OWN PERSONAL cloud that can not be accessed by companies and also to take all of your hard copy Or disc game's which I have a lot of and make them all digital and to be put in your own personal library and you can play them without a disk however you will always have your disk as a backup
I want to do this myself as a gamer.
@@TECHNOBABBLE. That's Awesome I'll look forward to them as you have just made yourself a New subscriber👍
Thank you again
Why it look like you downloaded all the EA play games
Load speeds slow?
Load speeds do vary by game, and honestly the Series X's internal NVMe has spoiled me a bit. So, if you're accustomed to NVMe drives then yeah it'll feel slow. It took 1 minute, 14 seconds to launch Gears of War 4 from the hard drive. That's from launching the game to the title screen "Press A to Play" without skipping any of the developer 'animations'? I can snag a comparison video if you have a specific game or anything in mind though. Thanks for watching and for commenting.
does playing games on the hard drive decrease the quality and performance of your game ?
@@TECHNOBABBLE. helped me more than enough!
main reason i'm wanting to get one is due to the series s having little space but i saw a lot about it degrading the quality of the game and how you can't play the enhanced series s version of games on it
don't worry at all about "running on" , it's passion and i appreciate it a lot
thanks for the help , you've gained a new subscriber !❤️
Thank you and no problem, any time at all, if I can or cannot help, either way I'll certainly try.
I actually just picked up a 5 tb external HDD after my 2tb broke...bought it in 2015....how long should these external HDD last? Great vid!
To computer that 8 terabytes looks like:
8000000000000 ÷ 1024⁴ = 7,28 tebibytes.
Hey bro can you pls share any xbox one s account
Good video.
This video is very helpful. Thank you. Haters are gonna hate. LOL
If you don't and you keep on addressing trolls if you know what this channel is you're going to be like another wings of redemption
Thanks boss

1:11 yeah thats kinda funny

You can only drive one car at a time, you only travel so far per day..... only 7 days in a week.... so why so many cars?''
This guys video........ The amount of games is ridiculous!!!
If he never worked and just sat down gaming 10hrs a day and went through the games alphabetically, he could play solid for 6 months and only get too games starting with C lol.
These manufacturers that sell and price these things, really see some of you coming, because if you have one of these drives, if you have 50 plus games on there, then either
They are on there because you haven't started it yet, therefore why have it downloaded?
