In 1967 I bought a used 59 Ford 4 door sedan. It had the 292 Y block V8, 3 on the tree with overdrive. It was a really good car. I would be happy to have it back for a daily driver even today.
Yes sir I still got the 58, back then less then a quarter a gallon,, use to drive into a gas station and say... give me a bucks worth regular".. awe the days!
FYI - There was just one six cylinder engine available - The 223 cu in mileage maker six with a one bbl carb. Of course, the best fuel economy could be had by ordering the 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. There was also a wide range of V8's available as well, but those were a tad more thirsty for fuel than the six. Actual fuel mileage,of course, depended upon engine choice, transmission choice, and also rear axle gearing. (And also upon the drivers right foot.)
59 Fords were great cars the mileage maker was a low budget engine but it was good for sailing along a 60mph, the 292 could if tuned right could hit the ton ( 100) ..some say the 57 was the pick but for me the 59 is perfection...
silverbird58 104 would've been Premium, not Regular. Regular was 94. However, I wish I could get any kind of gas these days that costed only $5.00 for 16 gallons!
@@1963-Ford-Galaxie You can express your opinion, but when you state it as fact then you are open to criticism. BTW, Dick Cheney said anyone criticizing the sitting president is aiding terrorists, so I hope that's not your game. Good luck
ive always liked 59 fords and i used to own one with the 6 cylinder with 3 speed standard, yes it was pretty decent on gas,and i own one now with a 292 v 8,its not bad on fuel either.i laugh becaus that modern all new mileage maker 6 hes talking about came out in 1952 i believe.it may be a mileage maker but it isnt all new for 59 lol.
Composite resin is everywhere on newer cars to save weight and money. In fact GM has a lot of problems with steering columns now! The Chevrolet Malibu and Impala columns are notorious for failure of poorly made interior support components relating to electronic power assist.
I love Tennessee Ernie. I'll never forget his song "Sixteen tons"
Love , Tennessee Ernie Ford with that lil' pea picking heart that gave us so much joy. Thanks for sharing this great ad
What great cars, my dad had a 59 Ford wagon, traded it in on a 64 country squire, wonderful cars, lots of memories.

I'm hoping to earn 5777.00 for a 1959 ford fairlane 500 2 dr sedan that I've found for next cruise season. Money is sure hard to earn right now!
This. Is. Good
"Cut your oil bill in half, " he says. Better buy the Ford with the six "cylinger[sic]."
The year I was born
I filled up for $55.00 the other day 😅
Guess that car was the sixteen tons he sang about.
1:20 in 1 year MoPar will blow THAT claim out of the water!

Why this car will pay you money for every mile you put on it. The Ford Fair-lane 500.
Aluminized? Hmmm......
Sounds like a great car .why didnt they just keep building them like the Germans with the V.W. beetle .
$5 for gasoline? good
