My father worked for Jim Moran's Courtesy Ford in Chicago. If you've ever seen the TV series M-Squad, starring Lee Marvin, they used one of their 1958 Ford demos, with dealer license plate DL 29, in an episode.
TV programs are just "filler" for commercials. I counted 17 commercials between a TV episode. By the time you get back to the movie, you have forgotten what is was about. Most of my TV viewing is cable. and DVDs.
I had a '57 Fairlane. I think the '58 Ford, like just about every other car made in 1958, got heavier, chromier, and just less attractive. Quad lights and poured on chrome signaled a big change from lighter, smoother lines. The '58 Thunderbird, for example, is just a nightmare - especially when compared to the '57. All that said, they're all still classics in their own way and fun pieces of history.
Those new lower side moldings are what sold me.! They're keen!

I remember Ford's tag line from 1958. Proved and Approved around the world! TV spots, sales literature, advertising in the dealerships!
Thanks for posting this commercial, its great! Love those 50's Fords.
Yes great car i owned one for 4 years
I've owned four 58's. Fairlane 500, Sunliner, Skyliner, and a Country Sedan wagon. Guess it's kind of a sickness. 😊
God bless America!
One of the models was wearing a fur wrap.
Late 1950"s before wearing Fur was inappropriate.
Ahh the simpler times
obviously didn't have an English teacher helping out w/ the wording.." more prouder"??
and a maniquine (sp?) that just Looovves the new Ford!
I understand the roof ridges made the roof sturdier, but I approved more of the '57 than the '58!

Time to cut the cord and go strictly with internet, over the air TV in conjunction with a DVR. Problem solved.
Love the french models oggling over something here?? AWESOME!
When cars had style.
I totally agree with you 100%.
I have one and have had it for 38 years.
The 58 ford was outsold by the bigger than 57..and boxier 58 chevrolet.
When did Ford began using the oval and the cursive word in its commercials?
Me gusta el carro
