We have been hit hard by the glass plants, coal mines, and steel mills all closing the past 20 years.
We have evolved into a hardy breed, surviving by shining one another's shoes if the situations call for it, so long as everyone has a full belly.
2016 has been no different. We pinch pennies tight enough to hear ol' Abe grumble back in protest.
That is when Harrison County's Good Samaritan called up Anmoore's finest.

That first lady had me in tears. She was balling even before she had opened the card.
Id be crying a river too just cos i be thinking im busted for something i must have done wrong that i wasnt aware of.

@@codenamemighty2890 Again, don't see where god comes into it. How is this through the works of god? Which of the nearly 200 recognised deities are you referring to? Nope, this was the act of a good man trying to help people who need help. Maybe that's where your god comes in, creating the problem in the first place? Or maybe, think about it, it's just society and no god was involved.
@@codenamemighty2890. Thanks for your reply. Actually I didn't say god wasn't involved and I am sorry if you interpreted my comments that way. What I am saying is that there is no evidence of any god existing here. I don't think anyone is suggesting that the person who actually did some practical good here was god or are you suggesting he manifested himself on earth? Isn't that more the behaviour of the Greek or Norse gods, according to myth and legend? As regards this being caused by god, well obviously I can't agree with that but let's not forget how much racism and hatred there is in the bible (and many other texts on which religion is based but we are speaking of christianity here). Thanks for respecting my beliefs and I certainly wouldn't want to deny you your right to hold your faith but I feel that assigning any credit here to god is without either foundation or logic.

I think that no matter one's religion, or lack thereof, that a spirit dwells within us all that was authored by the same power that created us all. It doesn't matter by what name that power goes, I think there is only one universal power and I do believe that whether we recognize it in our own lives or not, when we do good things, that power has been activated. This was a nice story. I can remember driving through a road side check at Christmas time where the police are looking for drunk drivers. An officer handed me two hockey tickets to the local city team. Ottawa 67’s to be exact. I took my dad who was just on the cusp of becoming really ill with cancer. I will never forget that afternoon at the game and the popcorn we munched on together. My dad so loved hockey. Don’t remember who won the game that day, just that wonderful feeling of being with my dad. This December he has been gone 15 years.

West Virginia is Near & Dear to my heart, as All my Kin came from there,& my Childhood was Jug Full of Wonderful Memories. The Country Preacher was my Great Grandfather,& instilled the importance of Roots and family, friends that's still being passed down, even tho we're spread far & wide now. This was just Beautiful to me. "Almost Heaven" hit a Mighty rough patch, but by God's Hand, the People Do get by!
Things are lookin' up again for Everyone, but I'm Especially pleased to see WV Back in Business!!!
Some of these negative comments are rather upsetting. A kind benefactor asked this man to distribute these gifts in this manner. Should he have argued about it? Larry seems to be a good man who is obviously trusted by someone. Good for him for being a guardian for the people he's responsible to and thank you to this amazing secret Santa. No profit was made. I do this on a volunteer basis, #SecretSanta made nothing, and Officer Stout stayed over on his own time. Goes to show JUST how JADED you truly are... time to do some soul searching.
Because I weeded this comment garden with napalm... before this, I didn't believe in censorship. #Ironic

Hagen Noack No cordial people in your entire country? Wow...that’s harsh. I live in 🇨🇦. I’ve never met a German who wasn’t a sweetheart,and I’m almost 60. In sports,in the workplace...all nice people. Maybe all the nicest ones come to Canada! I talked with an older German guy tonight at work. I mentioned my favourite German footballers and of course he knew them all. I delivered mail for many years and don’t recall anything except good customers,originally from your country, offering me a drink or a snack all the time. I guess this is why I was surprised by your comment. Peace!

I love West Virginia. My dad and his wife live there, and I recently spent two months helping them, as my father has lung cancer. I wish I could move there, because the people are the best the world has to offer. My folks live in Point Pleasant, in Mason County, and I’m so far away in Dallas TX.
It’s sad to see so many people in need and not be able to help everyone #payitforward

No on knows how much West Virginia is hurting except the people who live here. I live in McDowell County and it has changed so much over the last few decades. Jobs are few and far between and poverty is rampant. This kindness brought me to tears.
