- Here's a brief video on a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta with 120k miles. This vehicle has been a reliable daily driver for several years, with just a few issues and maintenance items. It still drives well with very few squeaks and rattles, and it's been fuel efficient yet roomy for hauling stuff around. Overall, it's been a great car over the last 8.5 years and 120k miles! Own a 2015 jetta that I purchased two years ago, first car out of college bought on my own. It currently has 108,000 miles and it runs beautiful. It’s the 1.8 t engine and thankfully I have had nothing go wrong with the vehicle. I’ve done routine oil changes and maintenance always to keep it in great condition. The only thing I have done to it is install a cold air intake. Just for a little more sound when driving. Besides routine oil changes I haven’t had any major issues yet, knock on wood lol. It’s been a great car and I plan to keep it until it implodes.
That driver mirror is an easy fix. The colored (red) part is a cap that can be carefully pried off, exposing the bulb.
I have a 2012 vw Jetta 2.5 with already over 148000 original miles from new and it drives great and is actually fun to drive with just regular maintenance
Do you have oil on map sensor(p0106) issue?

I have a ‘09 Jetta 2.5L automatic with
121k on it and runs great, but it does have one minor oil leak. Had the car since 2012. I believe it will last me for another 4 years before I decide to get something better. I only put around 4500 miles a year on it.
@yamal Not much in the Jetta. Only during college semesters, I'll put on around 4000-5000. During the summer I'll be put around 250-500. Really our Subaru does most of the heavy lifting now.
Did you have to purchase any parts to replace old ones? If so what was the average cost not including labor?

they’re reliable in terms of engine and transmission. In 3 years of owning it ive only had to change the power steering pump which cost me $450 with labor. And numerous headlight LED bulbs, lol. And the Check Engine light keeps coming on and off for the MAF sensor, no matter how many times you replace it. another common issue i hear, unfortunately
everything else works perfectly and is my daily.
Is the 2.5l 5 cylinder reliable/easy to work on?

I drive an '11 Jetta SEL 2.5L. My opinion may be biased on the car because I bought it after it had gotten into a front end collision. The clock springs apparently go bad in these models but its no concern to get it fixed I assume. The biggest repair I had to do was to replace the computer which set me back $1700. Ever since that the major issue is that the heater core is fucked so I don't have heat during the winter but I just put the windows down and my ass suffers driving down to work in the morning. This jetta was reliable enough to get me across the country so I will give it that, but any work that would ever need to get done to the car will typically always set you back a few hundred. Like I said, I'm being biased because the car was in an accident in the past so do your own research.
I have the same, Black, 5 spd manual and l I have disc brakes all the way around. The "lock nuts" are actually just covers... it stumps a lot of people. There a tool in the jack kit that pulls them out. Despite the cost cuts it's still serving me well. Head lights burned out a lot, swapped them with Sylvania LED's. I'm rolling 310,000km (190,000 miles)
Yeah what’s up with that. My headlights burn out all the time and the taillights seem to just not work. Even replaced the whole rear taillight assembly and it doesn’t work. Except for the blinker?😅😅
@@michaelmayne6097 Get the Sylvania LED's They just plug in. If you're clever you can modify the clips that hold the lights in instead of buying the after market clips to install the lights. They have a 5 year warranty ;)
Why doesn’t it have a temperature gauge
My works fine, my only complaint is that my Bluetooth doesn’t work & the stereo doesn’t light up at night. The only way I can turn on the blue light for the stereo is turning off my car with the lights on for a minute or two then turning it back on. Strange but it works.
I have a '12 2.slow with 110 000km. Going to keep maintaining it and seeing how long it lasts!

@@caydenmentek5118idk why it’s called the 2.slow I mean it is by no means fast but it is however faster than most traffic out there. What I mean by traffic is Camrys and big ass suvs.

I have noticed the VWs that don't have turbos are very reliable. Besides electric problems lol
@@jenharrison9913 you may have a bad ground wire somewhere in your car that's draining the battery. Take it to an auto electrical expert not a mechanic.

Hey so I’m looking to get a 2011 Jetta and it’s at about 143k miles. I’m just curious what your opinion is about the longevity of it is. Could I expect it to hit 200k? What kind of things should I look for when I check it out before buying it? I’m hoping to get 2-3 years out of it before getting something else.

I have one and never got any problem with it. they are good car and they look good and they are really fun to drive
I’ve had mine for about 3 years now and have done regular maintenance and replaced TONS of expensive parts. One thing to keep in mind is how repairs are expensive since they’re genuine VW parts and sometimes only the dealership can get parts for the repair. My engine just blew out at 123k and I’m replacing it with another 20k used engine. Cars a lemon but known to be “reliable”. If I could turn back time I would have chose another car and saved thousands in repairs and maintenance
Where is the power steering fluid at?
7 months late but it doesn't look like a regular reservoir. It's a small gray plastic "cap" in the middle of the engine bay.

How comfortable is it driving long distance, does the steering wheel shake while going over high speeds and where should I look, for common rust spots on this car.

Adrian Scherbenske it is very difficult to find lower than 100k miles for less than $7000 in my area for a JETTA. I had a red 1992 JETTA GLI 5spd years ago , it was a great car , a joy to drive on long distant drives with comfortable seats.

I bought a 2014 Jetta 2.0 with manual transmission about 5 months ago now. I paid 4300$ and the thing is just awesome to drive. Despite the high miles, it just feels like new. The steering wheel starts shaking a little bit when you go between 150-160 kph, it’s very mild and shouldn’t be doing those speeds anyways. Overall, an awesome car, and it also has lots of trunk space!

They are a lot like bmw, depends on the car. But often requires some money in the bank to keep up on maintenance.

not really. however, his particular one is rated to be the most reliable VW. the 2.0L non turbo is bullet proof and the transmission is 6 sp automatic, made by Aisin, also super reliable.

Depends on model. Maintenance is more expensive than a Toyota or Honda though.

The only way to drive this car is in a manual. VW makes horrible automatic transmissions
In this model of Jetta, the transmission is sourced from Aisin, a subsidiary of Toyota. So, their ATs in this model Jetta are actually really reliable. Previous models were shitty however.
