One word on the audio. I recorded a separate audio track using a lav mic...I sync'd it to my camera audio and edited the whole video. This is...was the best sounding video I've made, but I made a huge bone head move. I accidentally deleted the audio track from my gallery before I had the chance to back up the video...so I'm left with the audio from the a6000...which isn't too terrible, but could have been better, and you might be able to hear the alien clicking sound Sigma lenses are known for when focusing. So learn from my mistake...ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR STUFF before you go deleting files.
I like your video. I'm new to photography and got a Sony a6000 with this lens (Sony 50mm f1.8 OSS) and really like it. Should I also get the Sigma 16mm f1.4? What can the 16mm f1.4 used for? Thanks
Hi Rodrigo. I also have the sigma 16mm f1.4. I use it for both photography and video. My suggestion will be, since you are new to photography, practice with the 50mm for a while. I used the 50mm only for a whole year before I bought the 16mm. It’s not about how many lenses you have, it’s how well you use the lens you already have. Hope this helps.
Hi, im using body sony a6500, and have sigma 30mm f1.4, for your opinion is it worth it im buy a sony 50mm oss, my normal using is video for event, wedding
Hi. I don’t have the 55-210. I don’t need the 210 focal length. I don’t know what kind of photography you are into, but for portrait, the 50 is much better in my opinion.
Is this lens really silent on autofocusing or is it like the FE 50mm 1.8? I have borrowed and FE (no OSS) and the noise it's really loud. Sometimes the autofocus does not work too well
No autofocus lens is %100 silent, but in my experience, I haven’t been able to hear the motor. The sigma 16mm 1.4 makes a noise that’s noticeable...not so with the 50mm 1.8 oss. The FE 1.8 is for full frame...it doesn’t seem to autofocus as well as the 1.8 oss.
@@jeffrendered3564 I have an a6000 with 16-50mm kit lens. This lens has a great autofocus and absolutely not heareable noise on it. It's not full frame by the way. Have you ever used the 16-50 kit lens?
No I bought the body only and got the 1.8 oss right away. I knew I wanted to do portrait type and a fast f stop. The kit lens is very versatile but I got the camera/lens for work. 😄
Hi Jeff. Finally I paid off my credit on mortgage and i have 50mm f1.8 OSS. And I love the lens. Thank you so much for your awesome pics and recommendations.
I want to use this lens for music videos, low light is mainly the reason i need this lens for, close up and long distance as you know how music videos are these days, i have the sony 6300 and will be filming in 4k of course, is this lens for me? It will be my first ever lens i will be purchasing on a camera, will i be happy with this lens for music videis in day light and low light, will this do the perfect job comparing to the kit lens for sony a6300 which i purchased 2 days ago but do not agree with low light conditions? Please help
Yea i explained it in my Pinned post. I accidentally deleted the audio from my lav mic, so I had to use the audio from the camera. One thing about sigma lenses is the autofocus noise...no lens is perfect though. :D
@@jeffrendered3564 ahhhhhhh whoops. thanks. kinda sad the FE has garbage auto focus apparently. have you heard if they have fixed that with any kind of firmware or anything? thanks for getting back to me so soon!
@@MikeMikeYT I haven't heard anything about a firmware update for that lens...from what I've heard...the autofocus is not as fast as the apsc 50mm...but unless you are shooting fast moving subjects, I imagine it should be fine. The problem with the Sony system, is there is no cheap alternative. The Zeiss 55mm is close to $900, and so is the Sigma 50 1.4.
Nice review Sir, I have a6400 with sony 18-135 lens, As an additional lens i am confused in between Sigma 56 and Sony 50 oss. What you recommend me please ?
I haven’t used the sigma 56. That lens is the equivalent of an 85mm on a full frame camera. The OSS in the song means optical steady shot...basically it means the lens is stabilized...less shaky. I prefer the Sony because I need fast focusing.
So I have the a7ii with the Fe 50mm 1.8 and the autofocus is very slow or doesn’t lock on to the right part. I’m getting rid of it in favor of the a6500. Should I swap the Fe version for the apsc version also?
if you put a 50mm 1.8 on the 6500...the focal lengh becomes a 75mm with depth of field similar to a f2.8. If you want the 50mm focal lengh...get a 35mm.
Try aperture priority and set your ISO to auto. The camera will handle everything except aperture. A rule of thumb is to multiply the number of subjects by 2 for your aperture. For instance, if you have 2 subjects you can shoot at f4. Of course, this is subjective and its best to play around and find what you like for every shoot you do.
Jeff Rendered interesting. I shoot with a 6500 and a 16-70 f4 and haven’t had too many problems with that so far. Im considering picking up a lens to get down into the f1.8 area so was thinking the 50 might be good for it. Wonder if it is the difference in bodies? I feel like it wouldn’t be but who knows.
Jeff Rendered I have the 6300 and it does exactly what you speak of the shutter speed goes really low and all my pictures are blurry! Thanks for the tips guys! :)
