  • One of the elevators serving the underground public parking garage of La Cour Perrinon shopping center in downtown Fort-de-France. This particular elevator is located at the entrance on Rue Isabert. Again, just a typical European OTIS Gen2 elevator.

Just a typical boring European Gen2… would have been better with a Latin American model.
I come across so many of these in France.

Judging by the fact that Martinique is a French overseas region under French administration, most elevators had to be imported straight from France and other parts of mainland Europe. A similar situation also happens in the Dutch Caribbean like Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
Strange how elevator companies in Martinique import elevators from Europe rather than Brazil considering the region being located in the Caribbean where most independent Caribbean nations import Brazilian elevators. Wonder if there are actually Brazilian/Latin American elevators in Martinique.
Oddly, British Virgin Islands which is under UK administration (being a British Overseas Territory) has many American elevators.

@@idl3k_elev it’s cheaper for the French overseas territories to import from France rather than importing from Brazil, no customs fees, no import taxes, although the shipping costs are much higher.
