here's the ugly part in advertising: - clients sometimes are stupid and illogical so you have to deal how difficult their attitude is even you know what is a better solution for their brands. - work is demanding so you sometimes you might have to stay late nights, work on weekends and holidays, they sometimes even call you up while you're on holiday - there are a lot of politics, people who want to take credit of your work especially for awards, people who suck up to bosses and gets the promotion, people who talk behind your back, looking for someone to blame. It's a stressful environment so watchout for bullies from different departments. - lack of budget, time to create quality work. - some talents are exploited they give you lots more work and responsibilities, they give you a promotion that sounds nice as a 'title' but they don't compensate for it. If the agency loses the account they fire you or they fire the whole creative team who handles the brand. what i mentioned above varies from country-to-country, company-to-company but hey, for the most part, it's fun, rewarding, you will learn a lot, you will meet a lot of people, there's a lot of parties too, you can make money, travel. It changed my life! try different companies so you can get experience, figure out what you really want. don't be afraid to quit your job if you're not happy, there are lots of opportunities out there especially for young people, look for another one that has a culture that fits you. you don't need to be a slave in advertising.

@Daria_Erza. I would like to point out that there's a difference between thriving and striving. You've misused the word strive a few times. In an environment that compels you to perform, where you find motivation to go above and beyond, you thrive. When you're working towards a goal you strive. You strive to achieve that goal. Does that make sense to you?

Heyy! Very helpful insights indeed. Thank you so much for this great video. Can you suggest a educational path for getting into a creative ad agency? Meaning what background, as in what bachelor's/master's degree would be good to land a job in an ad agency.
Thank you very much for this video. I’m an aspiring copywriter. I’m just starting out and have been working on a portfolio. Do you think it’s realistic to be hired by an agency as a junior copywriter in Los Angeles without going to portfolio school?
I’m in the industry and I hope I can shed some light. In my experience, bigger agencies are definitely more rigid in their selection process. Smaller agencies usually take a chance based on cultural fit and potential. I started at a mid size agency and now I’m at a boutique shop. I love smaller shops because it give you a lot of flexibility and gives you room to develop a robust set of skills outside of just your field. One crucial advice is really growing your network. I’d jump on LinkedIn and scout some agencies that you find a good fit and just try to connect with employees there to develop a relationship. Good luck on your journey!
@@misterpeekz Hey! I'm graduating High school soon. I'm confused if I should study Diploma in Public Relations or Marketing Communications to strengthen my Content and Copywriting skills to land a good job. So, are you on any social media where we can interact? That would be great!
@@dishasarkar.haven.inkonhearts I know this wasn’t a general question, but I just graduated with an advertising degree. I’ve had public relations internships in the past. All PR isn’t the same, but a PR degree program will teach you how to write (press releases like when a new product is coming out. Something is sent to the media.) For advertising the best advice I can give you or anyone else is to know if you want to be a creative (art direction, copywriting) or not (strategy, media planning and buying, ad sales). If you want to go the creative way, creating commercials, social media, billboards, then try to go to portfolio school or a college that has a specific creative sequence. Hi !! ^^ Well, if you're very sure you love agency and advertising world, the best degree you could get is an undergraduate in Advertising at a university! In my country (Spain 🇪🇸), for example, we have "Advertising & Public Relations", so you should search which undergraduate programs in your country are similar.
