+Fishing with Mike Chavez yes Sir I am , I like drift master also but just like the simplicity of the Monster rod holders , ps I like ur boat too looked at those as well but like I said I like simplicity and the flat green paint job appealed to me lol
The way I did it was to cut a plate drill two holes in it for the versatrac then just weld a rod coupling to the plate that way you don't have to do any threading I took a Hillman knob from lowes screwed it on the rod holder then into the holder so I could turn the holder to any position I enjoy your videos keep up good work
I had to come watch this. I don't think I can use this though. I don't have that tracking around my jon boat like you have. Not to mention I don't have a drill press, or saw like you were using, nor can I weld. lol These aluminum rod holders Travis gave me may not work out. I dunno. I know I need better screws, that's for sure. One solid bite Saturday broke the screws on one of my rod holders and I almost lost the rod holder and rod both. I think they'll be alright once I put better screws in, but if for some reason they don't work out, I'll definitely be looking for another alternative.
Ok looks awesome. Any reason to not drill hole for the rod holders bolt. Meaning if someone wasn't paying attention they could screw the holder through down to the top rail. Ouch But love the job
Your right , I just used what I have an angle grinder and a drill so 20 bucks worth of tools , the welder is another story , if you know someone who welds or there's a welder near you even a Garage that has one . The welding is simple on this project . Or you can pay 30 dollars a piece and get em from Monster rod holder company , I think even paying a welder to weld the nut on they would be cheaper though
Harbor freight 89 dollars lol jk , for that reason I made another video that you don't need any special tools for you should check it out you'll like it , well I like it better than this one
Very cool deal...I see that you are also a fan of Monster Rod Holders...Those are what I use also...Great holders...

I weld some and enjoy welding but I try to make stuff to where anyone can do it . But your way is super easy and a really good idea man .
I have a new video on making rodholder bases for the grizzly line of boats brother
I also use scotty rod holders I like your angle iron idea instead of mounting them on a plate on the side that would get them up higher in the boat
New sub hear I love making my own stuff thanks for sharing
Nothing like a bit of diy inventing!
vinniesdayoff thanks bro I appreciate ur support as always its nothing to some of the things I've seen on ur channel

Do you sell any those and how much? I have a 17.5 deep v. Would like to get a few.
No Sir I don't sell anything
very clean !¡¡!¡¡¡¡!!!
MAGO'S TEAM SHADOW CASTER thanks man
The bass tracker classic xl doesn’t have rod holders how would you put some on this particular boat. Because I don’t think it has a versa track
If it has tracks built in I'd do it the same way . I'm not sure how the rails are made
They make aluminum bases you can bolt on
Ok thank you for replying to me it is pretty dang awesome to talk to you
Do you think I could do the rod holder that you done for the Carolina skiff over the cleat of the boat
Are you using carriage bolts?
Yes Sir and watch this video it's a better video I made that first one a couple of years ago

D.I.Y. Good job
Flip the angle down when you cut and it won’t launch it off the saw
Yeah cuz everybody has a machine press and a welder sitting in their driveway
