I’ve been listening to CAS for 7 years now and despite people complaining that their songs sound the same, I actually admire their ability to maintain their signature style/cadence while introducing new melodies and lyrics. I can listen to them all day, I’ll never get tired. Don’t ever change

Reminds me of famous Japanese director Yasujiro Ozu quote on his films all being the same, "I can make fried tofu, boiled tofu, stuffed tofu. Cutlets and other fancy stuff, that's for other directors.” In the same sense, CAS is like being served variations of the same dish. Somewhat like a person returning to the same restaurant.

fr! to me it’s comforting that i can play their entire discography and fall asleep to it knowing what kind of vibe to expect. plus their music is unique and each song might sound similar but is very different and it reminds me of how mundane or repetitive life itself might seem but there’s special moments that we as humans have to articulate and grab meaning from 🤍

In fact, Greg said in an interview a few years back that he intentionally keeps the vibe similar, it's so pure for him. He also said if he wants to make a different vibey music he'd rather work with another group just like he did with Spanish Prayers a few years ago. His Charm of Pleasure, You Never Loved etc etc came out as his solos bc they give a very different vibe from cas.

The opening drumbeat in the beginning reminds me of the opening drumbeat you hear in “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith. Quite similar. Solid song from Cigarettes After Sex. It’s a change of pace. I totally dig it.
