- Noah Lyles has spoken about attempting to go after an unprecedented 4 Gold Medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics - and to do that he would need to be on the USA 4x400m team.

No. He should not. After the Olympics, he can try upgrading to the 400, run a couple, against reputable guys, see how he does, then he can talk. Fred Kerley dropped down from the 400 and seriously trained for the shorter sprints. Noah needs to put in the work.
Norwood 44.10, Wilson 44.20, Deadmon 44.22, Hall 43.80 good enough. No chance for Lyles

QUINCY WILSON the 16 year old high school phenom just ran 44.20. That's a under 18 world record. He deserves to be on that relay team over Noah Lyles. No disrespect to Noah, but let keeps it real. 44.20 is no joke. And until Noah can prove himself and run a flat 400m and prove to the world that he can run a sub 45 seconds without a baton in his hand. Then he shouldn't be on that team. However because of politics, the USA coaches might just make Noah run. I actually won't be surprise if I see Noah line up for the 4x400m finals at the Olympics. Noah is the biggest star on team USA even bigger than Sydney. And if he some how he pull off the triple they going to make him run, because the world will be watching.

However, knowing he is from my area, how huge a star he has been for many years, and now seeing not only did he perform so great at the trials, but even better over the weekend, while also knowing he’s a very strong finisher who runs down the professionals, I must completely disagree with you this time. Quincy Wilson is top 8 in the entire world this year, above almost every single professional. I trust him.
Regardless of the fact that there's really only 1 open spot on the 4x4, there's no room in the schedule to do both. Even boling would be a better option

The question is not how can you put Noah on the 4x400, because you can. The question would be WHY would you? I like Noah's talent, consistency, and attitude. He does not belong on the 4x400 because he doesn't run a good enough 400 to warrant the move. I'd go with Kerley before Lyles, and he didn't make the sprint team (but has a sub-44 PR).

Quincy Wilson on the team no matter what! If Noah wants that fourth gold so bad he shouldve dropped a 44 open this yr or tried the long jump, triple jump, or high jump. No need for him to steal someone else’s dream. And if he falls short of 3 golds before the 4x4 is run, the whole mission seems lackluster. Remember when Marion Jones set out for 5 golds and got 3 golds and 2 bronze. When u say u gonna bring home 4 golds and manage to only get half the job done…u look like u fell short.
noah prolly has a place for him in the mixed 4x4 or the 4x4 heats, but def not the finals

Of course, it won't be his fault if they choose him, but they would not have thought about it if he didn't suggest it.......politricks in sports. He just wanna do something nobody has done before. He now realizes he can't match up to Bolt records, so this is the next best thing

Quincy Wilson can potentialy split 43 at that stage lets be honest. Last Race all of the lights. Then you got That Dawg possibly splitting 43 low as well. Along with Norwood Possibly splitting 43 as well. Whoever runs the best out of Deadmond and and whoever the hell else can be on it just be ready for some speed.

First round 4x4 is the morning after the 200m Final. First round 4x4 is also the same day as the 4x100m Final.

I don't think he is as popular as people think. Yes, he is getting interviews but only because Shacarri does not do interviews. Looking at his numbers they are subpar while and they are along the lines are everyone else .

Sorry but all of those guys deserves to be on the 4x400 relay. Noah has not run an open 400 this year. I won't take off anyone Noah shouldn't be on the 400. I agree with Doc, we don't need him, give it to the guys who earn it.

Has the 4×4 even be named yet? And yes Noah runs! We didn't have a substantial set of men wanting to train and be world leaders in the 400 at mass! 6 men can run the 4x4 and we still need 2 for the mixed. Noah, and both Quincys are running, period. Why would he not!? As far as I'm concerned, he is more trained for it than those who chose to do the 400m and have yet to dominate since the last Games. The US has had a series of men in the 400 in the past history of Games that valued sweeping the 400m podium. I'm for the men who are ready. No matter what, take those who are consistently ready, and our men in the 400m have acted as though the 4x4 is automatic and have taken an entitlement approach to it it seems and that's not going to return golds at mass on a global level at things like the Olympic Games. We need gold medals, no disrespect to anyone who is listed in the pool, but the business of things and geopolitics says Noah Lyles runs the 4x4. 🤷🏾♀️ I don't even do these track podcasts, but knowing Anson, and after seeing one of the 400m tweets about it, I'm just keeping it real so the convo ends. As an American Olympic gold medalist, these convos run so deep, behind closed doors as to the who's, why's, & how's that I'm simply entertained by the men in the sport who've taken up this podcast space, to have these "chats". We have a good crop of men running 400's. Their times are good. Noah is not needed

Look fair is fair why have an Olympic trials ? The 6 people in the relay pool ran their life out and qualified for the team , I love and respect Lyles aka father hype but nooooo stay in your lane! He didn’t run the 400m so he doesn’t deserve to be on the team!

@@TheWayWithKhuwayne Sydney is a different story she ran 48.74 which is much faster than any of the other USA athletes in fact that’s the second fastest time in the world so far ! Lyles doesn’t have a time! But I get what you’re saying without Sydney the USA team could be beaten Lyles is a handicap for the USA 4x400 , that team is as deep as the river nile !

@@Page1travelfitness I don't think Lyles is a handicap for Team USA. As we saw at World Indoors earlier this year, he's very capable of running a solid 400m split. Plus indoors are harder than outside so times would be much quicker for Noah in a Outdoor 4x4. Considering his fitness as 100m & 200m runner plus his overall consistency this year, I don't believe he would jeopardise the team and would have a solid run.
Personally, the only way I see him making the team is if he wins the 3 Golds prior to the 4x4. Otherwise, I don't see it happening from a political standpoint.
As I stated with Gabby & Sydney, although ran 400m this year, they never competed it at Trials. So if you or anyone else believe allowing non 400m Olympic trials runners a spot on the team like a Gabby Thomas or Sydney, then Lyles without a doubt is a option IF he wins 3 Golds in Paris. Otherwise it is hypocritical 🤷🏾♂️
It's about winning. PERIOD. Stop that 400 crap that Lyles does not run, he's a 200m runner, THAT IS WHAT IS RUN IN A 4X4, do you people do not know this? The 4X4 is a sprint, I still can't understand why quarter milers are put on a 4x4 you need 100 and 200m runners on a 4x4, that is why 4x4 runners tire out at the 300m if you're gonna use quarter milers at least put a 200m specialist on the last leg, you need a sprinter, who runs both the 100 and 200

I dunno. He split 45-something indoors, which is a solid 44 something outdoors, especially since he is faster. I think we can merely tolerate Noah on the 4x400 and be fine, but he’s not a front runner. I say USA needs to tell Noah if he can beat Kishane & Fred in the 100M, maybe they’ll let him run the 400M. If he doesn’t get the Gold, let the stacked 400M guys get in there.

@@klrasta cuz he’s never been asked too. The man has the American indoor record or 31.mid he use to have the world indoor record that was 2019ish. Hes obviously gotten stronger. Said in a podcast he runs 31.2 at practice in December. Beating the 400 group which has 44 open runnners, there’s no doubt in my mind Noah with a running starts could split 43 44😂😂

Noah gives you 9.9 9.8 9.8 and then 20. 19.59 19.51 at USA trails in the span of a week. Sprinters like that run 300’s and 350s at practice. Theres no doubt in my mind he could split 43 with a running start.
Why does he need to prove he can run a 44, in a 4x4 race, he's the best 200m runner, that is what he will be running in a 4x4, his top speed is on the straight away who can catch him?
