Wanted an Adam Drake edition XXX-NT so bad back in highschool, but had to settle for the Sport RTR since I couldn't afford a separate engine/pipe/header/servos/etc. Had no idea what I was doing and couldn't keep it running long enough to ever justify driving to a track to run it like it was intended haha. Just got back into the hobby over the last 8 months or so with a new 1/8 nitro buggy RTR followed by a new, more serious, nitro buggy kit. Finally got to participate in my first race on Saturday and won the C main, which bumped me to the back of the 12 person B main where I ended up finishing 6th. So much fun, I wish I would've been doing this in my teens rather than just now starting at 32! Better late than never.
The Adam Drake XXX-NT has to be the most nostalgic RC car with myself and a lot of your viewers. I would love to hear a bit more about creating that, after you mentioned you had to hand build a thousand kits of the XX-NT RTR.
great story! As a kid I loved flipping through RC Car Action and seeing the articles and pictures of the race events. I just got back into the hobby and easily recognized your name with all the other big names in RC!
Hey Adam it’s great to watch you tell these stories, you can tell it brings back great memories because you’re smiling the whole time! Here’s a thought it would be very cool to see the race rigs you won these races with and to see what you were running back then. Love the buggy’s on the table though!!
I got into Nitro about 1996 with an MP5 and then I got out of it because nobody had a Nitro car. I just recently started up again with a Losi 8 RTR that shows up today .I just barely found your channel and I'm kind of nervous with going with a Nitro again but look forward to your videos and learning everything I can
Love your channel Adam. I have followed you since the beginning through the magazines back in the day to social media of today! Definitely an inspiration to me through my racing days. I stepped away from racing to compete with helicopters for a number of years. I am getting back into the racing scene again and your definitely still one of my top favorite drivers. Stoked to see you doing this channel for people needing help, tips getting into the hobby, and your history. Look forward to racing with you in the future buddy!
Love 2wd Nitro! I have 3 XXX NT's. One of them is a Drake Edition. We had a back yard track and we would run them things all day on the weekends. I remember being a fan of yours and seeing you in all the mags. We don't run them anymore but I enjoy your videos.
Looking at your rigs, I have to say your race livery is really cool too. Love the Neon Orange Flames/Blue/Neon Yellow combination. Racing machines that look cool is where it's at! 🏁😁😎
That was great to hear Adam I had a truck just like yours and would look for set up tips and pictures of and on your truck to help me in my racing I still have that truck .... I keep them all .
So cool, I am really enjoying these videos. Not sure if you have done one, but I would love a tire guide video of any kind. Basic. In deapth. Outdoor. Indoor. Does not matter. Just any insight into compounds, temp ranges, surface use, lifespan vs grip. I have been told iys the most important tuning aspect of an rc car. Please give us your experience with tires!
and then there were those bright orange race prep connectors, ayk and raceprep, raceprep electric motor mod with ceramic center shaft, those were the days. race prep stock 27turn motor with 27 degrees of roar legal timing, man they had some smokers on hot race days. history during the pandemic gotta love it. maybe next video explain quickly the A1 and A2 main setups, lots of drivers dont get to that large event and only have A-main B- main C-main. good day.
Grate video! I would like to see some behind the Scene like what you do to get ready for a race build video stuff that you get to see but we don't! You have been one of my favorite rc races since I started in 1999 ! I'd like to get your John Hancock on an rc buggy is it possible I'll pay for it ?

My dad used to race the Losi nitro stadium trucks when you used to build all the rtr’s. He said they were always 10 times better than the kits

Amazing story. You should do a video of your 1/8 national championships but show the cars if possible.
Great idea, will do.
Hey Adam, would you recommend Kyosho 1/8 buggies?
I don't have much experience with them. They seem to handle pretty good, but not as durable as some of the brands like Mugen.
@@AdamDrake I appreciate it!!
Good story!, maybe you can show us some of your old cars
