The more spaced out 75% boards are beautiful, this board and something like the satisfaction 75 are amazing. The more squashed looking 75s, they feel too "claustrophobic" for me to enjoy using. This is great
Pcb is originally designed for the taobao board commonly known as polaris75 and is repurposed to be used here. Also your version is the newer one with the bigger top bezel.
I messaged the seller before purchasing around 8 or 9 days ago and they said the newest version has the thin top bezel. They removed mention of the thicker top bezel from the listing as well.
I got the ID80 from Taobao a few months after watching this video. It is my first custom build! I built with with mixture of Kailh Box and Speed switches topping it up with MAXKEY SA caps, primarily use for gaming. I'm satisfied with the purchase and don't regret not waiting for the V2. I would like to thank you for the intro of this board!
I'm a motion graphics artist and work on a tablet. This keyboard is just small enough to have next to my wacom and I love the placement of the delete/pgUp/pgDn keys as well as the isolated directionals. I'm super stoked to work on this thing every day!
to people complaining about the title, this is the cheapest alu 75% keyboard you're probably going to find (cheaper or about the same as the kbd75) with the addition of a way better layout. i was almost sold on this but the giga radius on those corners + is killing me, the side bezels should probably be at least the same width as the fkey spacers. also would be nice to have another key on the right like 7v but i guess that's due to the polaris pcb
just got mine in the mail from drop.. like 2 months late. but i had to come straight back to this video as i put mine together. it looks great, feels amazing with my lubed NK creams, now I just need a better keycap set. thanks Tae!
For those looking for the "5 pin" switches they are typically called "PCB mount switches", the switches without the stubs are are called "plate mount switches". I hope this helps for new folks getting into the hobby!
I'm glad to see a more detailed review of the id80, I was surprised how it good it sounds in the video when it sounded pretty hollow with my typing test. Im also glad that I wasn't the only one who only recieved 3 stabilizers in the packaging
Great video. At 2:30, for some Kailh switches, the LEDs won't hold down the switch as the LED sits under the switch in a gap in the lower housing which sits below a clear flat part on the upper housing. This would allow you to have through-hole soldered LEDs and still be able to take advantage of the hot swap terminals.
This comment is super late and you probably already figured this out, but the through-hole LEDs actually still make sense on a hotswap board. There are "SMD" switches like from Gateron, Gazzew, etc that fit over a regular 2X3X4 LED (the LEDs being soldered to the board and then the switch just sits over top of it). In fact the red switch you showed in your video is one of them. Obviously, if you go this route it will severely limit your hotswap options to select switch types.
literally just ordered one since I'm waiting on a KBD75 pcb to ship out, honestly considering cancelling the order of that PCB & plate all together and rock this for a while. If not, I will soon enough have 2 75% boards added to my collection. Awesome video man, it came in clutch since the drop ends tomorrow.
I was really on the fence about getting this the other day and then watched this video and it made my decision much easier. Glad I got it before drop ran out and the price on aliexpress went up, thats crazy that the sales went up that fast after you put out this vid

Through hole LED does not make hotswap useless. For 1.8mm LED, you have to solder on the LED first before the switch in some cases. You can also plug up the holes with solder and then use surface mount 2 pole LEDs. Still need soldering, however does not make hotswap useless.
IDOBAO is now selling their ID87 as a GB on their site. Its retailing at $168 USD + Shipping. Looks to be a TKL build now. Such a shame they upped the price on these builds as the price point of closer to $100 was just amazing for people
