- A quick how to on the Motorola APX Migration Assistant! Converting from the Astro25 codeplug format to the APX codeplug format couldn't be easier, and here is how I do it. As always your mileage may vary.
1. Open the Migration Assistant program
2. In the MA program, open the folder of where your ASTRO25 codeplug is by hitting the Codeplug Location button
3. Select Portable or Mobile from the dropdown
4. Select the output file location by hitting the XML Location button
5. Select if you wanna keep or delete the log file from the migration
6. All looks good, hit the Start Conversion button and let it do it's thing
The migration will open ASTRO25 CPS and export all the things. Codeplug size will dictate how long this takes (more stuff in the CP, the longer it takes...) After the export, in the XML location you will see some temporary files, don't close anything, don't open anything! MA is still working in the background - keep an eye on that green bar in the bottom left of the MA window. It's slow, so just let it be.
After the migration is done, open APX CPS, and import the final XML file that was created (you'll see those temp files are gone). You may not have the "import" button, just hit the Copy button. Once the XML is imported/copied to your new APX codeplug, deal with all those invalid fields, if any, and then write that CP to your radio and enjoy.
Some notes:
-You can migrate multiple codeplugs at the same time, but this program is janky, maybe just do one
-Disable the validation and your life will be much happier
-Make a copy of the ASTRO25 codeplug you wanna migrate, it's always best to dork with a copy...
I'm using APX Migration Assistant version 14, along with APX CPS version 20+. Astro25 Portable CPS was the last version they ever made, so there is that.
