The L Train didn't derail, it only got separated from the train!!..it's a different between derail & being separated Omg!!...Other than that I'm happy everyone okay!!..
Direct quote from video, before they said train separation "a single axle with two wheels left the track". So yeah, accurately put, a partial derailment, one axle did become derailed .
The wheels came off the track, which counts as a derailment. There was photo evidence of that.

@@phil4863 yeah roughly 20 years old with the fleet that line uses. Sometimes they use R160s though (they're a bit younger than the R143s).

Pride Day 2023 was the most terrible day ever to ride the MTA, A to and from Far Rockaway had signal problems, No J service because someone was struck there, No R after Whitehall St, their problems both ruined and destroyed my Pride day.
