- You're going to Iceland and you want to bring back something special to remember your trip and let loved ones know you thought of them while on vacation. There are a host of things to buy in Iceland from art, wood carvings, food, knitwear, books, and cheeky things too.
The main shopping area in Reykjavik is Laugavegur shopping street. Here you will see everything from boutique and vintage clothing to beauty stores, cafes, housewares, and souvenirs. It's a hip and trendy place to spend lots of money or just walk and enjoy the area. The other shopping must-see areas for souvenirs are the Kringlan shopping mall and Kolaportid flea market,
Pro tip: When shopping for Iceland souvenirs make sure you check the tags. Like everywhere, some things are not made in Iceland, so if you are looking for authentic souvenirs, be sure to check the tag.
With so many unique souvenirs to choose from, you should be able to find something fun for yourself and those unable to come! If you've already decided to go to Iceland, check out the blog on travel tips for Iceland.

A wooden bread mold, which presses in images and an Icelandic phrase is my favorite.
We hit the grocery store to get larger cheaper bars of Icelandic chocolate from Noi Sirius and other producers. The sea salt makes an excellent gift for home cooks, and cheaper in the grocery story as well.
Great idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
Magic Iceland !
Hi. Very nice video. Did you happen to see a bookstore somewhere? I like picking up a history book about Iceland next month when I’m there.
I didn't see any but I know they are there. I did, however, see many gift shops that also had books. They are big on Sagas so you should be able to find books easily there.
Would you please tell where to buy the Fjallamosi(Icelands moss) in Iceland?
Thanks.
Flea Market???? What Flea Market??? Where??? I'm going to Iceland in 2023, WHERE IS THE FLEA MARKET??? I found some thrift stores, I'd love to go to a flea!
Sorry for the late reply. It is called Kolaportid Flea Market. Make sure to bring Krona because they don't all take credit.
It will be nice if you also let us know the Est. prices for each
There is such a wide range of products and manufacturers it would be hard to pin down. Shopping is half the fun.
Noi-Sirius is an Icelandic chocolate maker since 1920. Nuts and raisins are my favorite 😋
Nice video of the gifts. Was cold there? Was it festive? Did you go to see the Northern lights? We are thinking of visiting Iceland a week before Christmas
Thanks! Yes it was cold. I always had some kind of coat on. It was September so there was nothing "festive" that I saw but I wasn't looking for that. We saw the Northern lights. They are best seen by tour or near the parks where it is very dark. Base camp is ideal. It will be very cold in December and some rural areas outside of Reykjavik are not accessible by car that time of year.
