I love my Icelandic sweaters, they were certainly a big investment but without them I couldn’t fly in our antique aircraft in winter , so thank you Iceland for keeping me warm at 2000feet 😊
Thank you for this video. We both have sweaters, blankets, the salts are great, and I found a great couple of local artists to bring some Iceland back home with us. Great tips!
I’m trying to think... nope, I think you covered all the best ones. Leatherwork, perhaps. Good picture books on nature or history. Hm. Anything else? My sister and I grabbed a lava rock we came across and brought it home. Not sure if Iceland approves, but we did it anyway. It looks like a slab of black Swiss cheese.
wish I saw this video before I went to Iceland 3 weeks ago. I passed by the salts and skin care in your wonderful Duty Free shops. I might have to come back :)
You can buy Reyka vodka in the US (I've seen it in several grocery/liquor stores in the Midwest). It has a nice clear smooth taste with a peppery finish- I like to mix it with pomegranate juice.
I know someone who does hand-carved birds. The puffin is dope. I'm getting one for our nautical room. I wish they still sold the replica road signs (the Illfær vegur "difficult road" one in particular). We get the salts for Christmas. I love them too much. Also, soaps with Iceland moss and volcanic sand and Icelandic salts are always a great item. I use the skincare stuff because my job dries me out eay too much.
I may or may not have 2 Icelandic wool sweaters.. hehe.. one is very thick.. can be worn just that in -20°C without getting cold, and one thin one that is good for spring or autumn.. both of them are between 15-30 years old (I also have one norwegian sweater that is 40 years old)
@@AllThingsIceland if you take good care of them and correctly then they can last basically forever, my dad has sweaters he got when he was a teenager (started being a sailor) and he is now turning 70. sweaters all look good :)

Hi Jewels. I am a new subscriber and I LOVE your channel! Your personality resonates with me and I feel we would be friends if I lived there. Iceland is the next country I definitely want to visit. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos - they are interesting and fun to watch.
Hey Jewells how are you keeping ? I have a load of Blue Lagoon stuff. I love the silica Mud mask or the Algae Mask. And as for the snacks, I had some of those milk chocolate covered licorice balls( Icelandic Horse Doo Doo 😂 )...that was the actual name. Besides all of this, I just got a few post cards :)
Enjoyed hearing about the Lopapeysas! My friend brought me back some of those salts but the best thing was beard oil. It was amazing. Unfortunately I tipped over the little bottle and lost most of that wonderful gift. If you know of where to order Icelandic beard oil, I would love to know. Best wishes!
Spiced up candies would not be a surprise in Mexico, we have lots of chili powder candies or tamarind or hot chilis... will go there ti Iceland some day! Thank you for your great videos, love your attitude, your joy and happiness is contagious! You got a new subscriber in me! Hugs from Querétaro, a very gorgeous city nearby Mexico City

Hi, I've been watching your videos and I've got a question I hope you can help me solve. I'm 21 and I'm very close to finishing my career called "química farmaceútico biológica" it has no real translation in English but the literal translation is chemist pharmacist biologist, we are involved in almost everything chemistry-related from sample analysis in hospitals, quality analysis in the industry, to the production and investigation for the development of drugs, medicine, and resources and many things more. I desperately want to live in a nature-dominated-not-so-populated country and I've got my sight on Iceland. I'm feeling very passionate about Iceland and I'm already planning to pay several visits to the country to get experience it for my self. I wanted to ask you if you think my career would be useful in Iceland and if there is a market/need for people on my field or should I start developing some extra skills to help me find a job there and eventually move. P.S. Maybe I'll see you around once I'm there. Thanks for everything you've shared on your videos so far
All Things Iceland Thank you very much! That info really helps a lot. I hope that by next year things have already settled so that I can finally go and see Iceland
Álafoss is not selling sweaters made in Iceland, they´re made in China. So it´s not the authentic lopapeysa. With the new law for the lopapeysa there will be a authenticity mark on lopapeysur. Sweaters without the mark are fake, made in sweatshops abroad. Nordic Store bought the company Álafoss a few years back and fired the knitters that used to knit for the company.
Interesting because their website says this, "Álafoss wool store offers a great selection of authentic Icelandic wool sweaters that are hand knitted in Iceland with Icelandic wool and to ensure authenticity, all wool sweaters are marked with the knitters’ name." alafoss.is/pages/about-alafoss I don't know the people who run the store but it would be awful if they are writing that on their website and then sourcing the sweaters from somewhere else.
Best place to get a lopapeysur is the flea market downtown. Just look for old ladies who spend their days making them. You can easily tell what is handmade and what is not. Also to be sure the wool is icelandic and not made with Pakistani Wool. The stores on the high st are usually fake - and the store workers will tell you where they are made..(China) especially if you nudge them to be honest..lol. I absolutely love me Looapeysur and think of the old lady ‘Ama’ who made mine everytime I wear it. 🥰

I love those sweaters but wool makes me itch and break out in hives. On the sheep , no problem, the fleece is fine, when it's spun it kills me. 😔
