The fact you have a real job and these hold up at all is impressive. Def worth it to do a video with a cobller to do some glue . And highlight their business.
Great Video Keith, love the no bullsh!t approach. I went with Nicks myself and love them. I've been thinking the same thing with the leather sole, it feels so great on long days. When you come from work after 11-12 hours and forget to take them off, you know you've got top quality.
Important tip. When oiling and conditioning your boots, do not apply to the eyelets area as it will soften and stretch the leather around the eyelets and cause them to tear out.
I need a resolve after 6 months on my wedge sole boots, I guess i can wait longer but I might bust my ass on the ice a few times in the upcoming fall and winter.
The beard is back! Still waiting on my custom franks. 3 weeks past the estimate. Currently wearing my front ranges. Getting tired of my danners at work!
3 weeks!!!! Damn they must be slammed over there, and yea man hahahah, when it starts to get stupid hot in Fl I grow it out to keep the sun off my face .hopefully they show up here soon
No soles looks like dried up toast! oil and conditioner, oil and conditioner!!! i’ve been thirsting for a long time. Got to take care of that investment brother.
As much as I appreciate Frank's, the separation shouldn't be happening at 9 months. I had Ariats and Justin put through mud and water almostt everyday for years while feeding farm animals, finally gave up after 8 years....
Man that wild to hear.I can’t speak for them obviously but I would definitely reach out to them and see what they say to make things right,I’ve had my pair for nine months and there holding up great.it’s possible you just got that one pair lol.
Are these boots walnut smooth over rough? And I noticed for being type 1 commanders they dont have the screws in the bottom.. killer boots! I love my Frank's, keep the updates coming
That’s correct they are. And they don’t have the screws just because there are the lineman boots and have to have dielectric properties. They have the beefed up leather shank and the extra leather patch on the side of them for climbing.
That makes sense being lineman boots so no screws in the bottom. With the lineman shank and patch those must have been killer to break in. With my boots being lace to toe the seam is right over my big toe and that has been the hardest thing to break in. If I walk more than 3 miles straight my toe is screaming
What was the size difference between your red wings and franks? I got size 11 ee in the moc toe and ordered 11e without getting sized for nicks it’s gonna take another few months to get my order I’ve never had high quality boots like these before.
I’m a lineman in south central Georgia. I went with nicks boots and couldn’t be happier. The custom built boots are without a doubt the way to go. Been doing this line of work for 19 years. Stay safe my brother
Hell yea likewise! I’ll have 10 years in come august just over 9 in distro and recently switched to transmission.both brands are like splitting hairs trying to compare one to the other.
@@keithjohnson5148 I hear ya. I work for a co-op in distribution. Service supervisor currently. Love your videos. I feel like if anyone can put boots to the test out line of work is the one. Lol
Hey man thanks for the update on these boots. I watched all the videos and was back and forth from Nick's to Frank's and went with Frank's because I liked what I was hearing from you on these boots. I ordered May 11 and hopefully will be getting my T1 commander's soon. Thanks for shooting straight and actually putting them thru a real world test. Be blessed
I ordered mine the end of January/ February. Mine just got done lasting, and are going into sole construction, and I was given tentatively 2 weeks left. They are crazy backed up, so you're probably a good few months out buddy. Just remember.... You can't rush art.
@@barryross41 yeah, they are custom. But in general, we ordered the worst months of the year for all the NW hand crafted boot manufacturers. Their largest customer base is Wild land services, fire fighters, and private clearing crews, usfs, etc. The men who keep us all from burning alive need their boots before fire season. Plus everyone else gets their taxes, so they get slammed with orders there. This year was absolutely crazy for these companies, because the extra exposure to quality footwear, during lockdown. everyone basically saw a few dudes exposing the mass production footwear industry,in general, for making garbage. Then the government distributed people enough money that people could afford to order 500$ boots without feeling guilty in the slightest. you can see where this goes. Next, you have to understand that Frank's company, according to the local guy I order threw, consists of 4 master Craftsman, and Jr. Who handles most of the office work, and I'd assume he's training up to be a master Craftsman himself. I'd assume Nick's is a crazy house these days with them being the primary company that got mass exposure, and pushed their marketing campaign hard, as they cut back on custom options, and they are now running exclusive special custom builds like the 500 they are doing for rose anvil. Lucky 🤞 Frank's is still willing to do cool customs. They definitely have different business models which is fine, I'm no brand purist by any means. I'm buying my dad some white's just to cut his teeth on handmade boots, because he won't do it himself, and the old man honestly needs them before he's too old and his back is totally shot from walking on garbage. Anyway, I got off on a tangent, but hopefully I have a coherent explanation of why we all on a backed up timetable. I'm sure those old boys are working themselves to the bone, trying to crank out boots faster than the orders came in the last 6 months. They are probably just making headway on bringing the production time back to the standard 14-16 weeks.
Just ordered my second pair of 10” commander’s in walnut with steel toe, first pair are black. Best boot I’ve ever wore.
"The boots fuckin phenomenal!" Best quote to discribe them I've heard.
Hahahahah. It just slipped out but it’s true, they really are
Look Outstanding!!!!

the stitches in the front are more for show. the stitches should be backstitched so even in the front threads are gone it will hold fine.

Nice looking boots I have five pairs of nicks and I love them
Just ordered a pair, great people to work with. The hardest part is waiting😂
Love Frank’s, Nick’s, Wesco, and White’s. Getting my Nick’s urban loggers in a few days! Great video man.

I have a few more weeks intill my Franks are here I can't wait.
Do you know what the difference is between the firestomper and the commander?
Don’t oil the eyelets, hooks or the heels.
