I concur with all the comments so far so no need to repeat them. I just wish everyone who sifts through RUclips videos and comes upon your channel, would just take a moment to subscribe and like. It cost us the viewers nothing at all but it's the smallest of ways we can support your abilities to help others, do what you love to do and support your family. Keep it going Casey!!
Idk if you will see this comment sinece its on an older vudeo, but I have been kinda binge watching your videos and I enjoy them. I know you do the recoveries for free and I think that's great. Please keep doing what you do.
👍👍 Great video as usual. I liked the end showing all the tires inflating at the same time. I bought a MorrFlat on your recommendation and they really do work that great.
Great recovery! “Get Stuck & Find Out”😂 👍😎 Your Knowledge, Expertise, Time, Gas are all costs of the job.😊 Keep up the great work and stay safe out there!❤️🙏
As an ex-tow truck operator here in Melbourne Australia, I can relate to what you said at the end of this video, there are soo many variables that people do Not see which is involved in every job. Some companies charge a per km fee from the depot to the job then the time taken while on scene, or....a total job fee once the jobs is completed... and there are many over variables that they charge depending on which vehicle is used and other things needed while on that job etc.. Most people do not understand what it takes to run a business of this type. You are very lucky Casey and the people that you help as you have the RUclips payments to subsidise this then no one gets charged unless really needed etc.
"single biggest thing is airing down your tires!" SO true. AND second and third are a $25 come along and some simple straps. dont forget the cost of the job also includes the experience. A hack from another area might take many times longer to get a car out, while someone with years of local knowledge does it efficiently, and without risking injury damage. that's worth A LOT.
Love your videos. I'm from western NC and had to go to Bend , Oregon one year to a dealer meeting at Sea Swirl. Beautiful place and weather was perfect the day I got there. Well the next day I woke up and couldn't see the little rental car I got. Weather sure changes in a hurry out there in the desert It was still a great trip and love the scenery.
As far as the crusty snow, it does that all over. I've been driving a big truck for about as long as he's been around. Every state in the country that gets snow does what he was showing. I know I've seen it around where i live since i was old enough to know what snow was, over 50 years!
Casey thank you about explaining how the pricing actually works I wasn't sure about that. I know you are a blessing to people when you don't charge them. The way you balance the filming and making sure to get the good shots when you are by yourself and get the job done is a great thing that is extra work that you do to make sure we get good quality videos everything.
You do a great job, and your right people only see the 5 minutes it takes to get them out, and feel they should only be charged that, when it takes hours, and fuel, and wear and tear, same with mechanic, people know how long it takes, but don't count the, rags, power, wear and tear on spanners, air tool's etc etc, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Welcome to the LaDelle school of getting (un)stuck. Today Casey talks about snow science. You got your rock hard bumper/diff grabbing crust, loose granular tire spinning snow, and tire chains are snow specific (aka really for ice). Not just a doer, he's a teacher. Don't forget your donut date with the kiddo, this is very important for proper daddy daughter bonding, and a good excuse to sneak a donut past your diet.
Always enjoy the recoveries, the cute kid is like a bonus. Folks aren't always paying for other peoples time, They are paying for skill, knowledge, experience, equipment, insurance, ect... someone's time is only part of "how much do you get charged". Casey chooses to do business his way for whatever reason but there is no way I would not let him not take a cash donation if he or anyone else helped me.
Towing prices reminds me of this old repair guy at a factory who finally retired. Their complicated machine broke down and they couldn’t figure it out. They talked him into coming in to have a look. He tapped it a couple places, shook this and that, and finally made a chalk mark. “Replace this,” he said. They did and it worked. The bean-counters complained because he charged them $1000 for this service and demanded an itemized bill … and got this in return: One chalk mark: $1 Knowing where to put it: $999
Casey, you always try to do such an excellent job of describing what is going on, and this video is probably one of the best for the way you describe the process at the end. Of course seeing Riley first thing in a video is always a good thing (even when she's feeling bashful and doesn't want to tell us Good Morning).
Used to live there, yea the dry powder is easy to get through, that crust will catch alot of people off guard, can even stop snow mobiles in their tracks if conditions are right
@@jeffclark2725 I've been over the bars a couple times when I was younger it'll teach ya quick I prefer a warmer more comfortable ride now and just watching the snow machines go
Trades people have had this problem of pricing since there were trades....hidden costs: training, skills, insurances, wear and tear (not just the vehicles), materials etc etc...can't understand why people don't get that someone's time is as valuable as their own is... Thanks for your in depth explanations of all things recovery and keep on, keeping on 👍
A comment I used to get a lot when I worked in the field was "That only took 15min, how can you charge that much". My response was always "Your not only paying for that 15min, your also paying for the 20 years of experience that let me do that in 15min". And I said it in a nice way. But yup, sometimes people don't realize everything that is involved in a job.
that is the same in so many fields. In the Internet space, you can not bring up a virtual server in a few clicks, and it takes seconds to complete. But now you have to configure it to do the job you want, and that can take hours, or even days, depends on the complexity. Sure, you can have a server with WordPress installed on it in seconds, but then you have to configure it, customize it and add all your content. Some ads make it sound like you snap your fingers and it's done. As someone with 45 years in computers, I can do it rather quickly, but it takes time to learn it.
I will say to everyone and anyone who enjoys Casey's videos, and sees what a blessing he is to his community, to (1) support him with a to help him keep on doing what he is doing, and/or (2) find somebody who is helping *your* community like Casey helps his, and support them with a donation, or (3) if you are able, become the Casey LaDelle of your community by helping your fellow community-dwellers, and treat everyone you run in to like you would a good friend, or your friend's friend. A kind work costs nothing but goes a long way to help those who are invisibly struggling with some challenge or another.
Good on you explaining how and why tow cost. Depending on the area and tow service used can make a big difference too. I've seen some that do up charges on tow service calls. That can depend on customer attitude or actions.
Truth! Made the mistake of questioning a flat-bed driver who didn't think he could back up to into position to pick up my son's truck where it was parked. I said, "Couldn't you just back to there and winch him the rest of the way (10 more feet)?" He did and successfully loaded the vehicle. Cost me an $80 upcharge for "hazardous loading condition" or some such. Should have just said, "Oh, okay never mind then." and called another tow truck.
Your explanation of the variations in costs is spot on and to me very obvious & logical. Sadly a number of people don't see that and think they are being ripped off and cause a scene. They do have the option of getting out themselves if they can, or doing a roadside repair if they can or just stay home and never enjoy the great out doors. Or they can just sucking up the fact they couldn't extricate themselves and NEEDED to engage the assistance of a business that specialises in recoveries. Fortunately you can do some at no cost to the stuck traveller.
Thank you Casey for all you do. You have blessed my family with your adventures and how you treat people. Thank you that we can watch without foul language and share with others. And thanks for sharing Riley.
A company near me who does similar work for off road recovery charges $500 an hour. Casey is the man for doing this for free. I’m happy to like, comment and get people to subscribe to help support him so he can help support others.
You and I are hands on individuals and we understand what Casey was explaining. I think I could do the recovery this video depicted but would not because of many reasons. The first is lack of experience/knowledge, then the correct tool/equipment and the list goes on. Casey's the man for the job. This is why I hire professionals on some of my tasks. I do enjoy watching Casey's videos 😂 Keep them coming.
I’m glad you put in the explanation that people are charged for the “whole” recovery and that all jobs are different in that you use different equipment etc. So you also have the wear-n-tear of your gear, truck, fuel plus insurance and maintenance, it all adds up !! Thank you for providing your neighbours this service free of charge 💛
One gets also charged for the wear and tear of the work equipment, I notice all the time that people seem to forget that too. As everybody knows, everything you use will brake or needs to be replaced due to wear and tear at a certain point and that happens when one uses it. But in reality everybody seems to forget that until something they use breaks and needs to be replaced
I like the chance to see you portaging the cameras. It's interesting and helps me understand the effort that goes into making a video. I think this job would have cost $400. Maybe more with gas factored in. I'll bet some of the hard jobs would be costing thousands.
I like how the channels I watch are either protective of pricing (because you have to be for stated reasons) or able to provide the service free of charge (like yourself) in most cases. I watch for entertainment and ideas - products sometimes as well. The story of "how" or "why" is very interesting to me. Good thing someone knew he was out and did the logical thing and called for help. Great advise and example of tire pressure and Morrflate - I have to my upgrade compressor first.
Airing down is the best modification. I run a stock 05 6 speed Tacoma with 265/75/16 Toyo MT. Running mid single digits in the front and low single digits in the rear works great in snow. They weren't too good in snow at road psi.
Casey, I'm saying this very carefully, but saying it regardless. When rocking your truck to initially try to lengthen your track for momentum when stuck, have you ever tried staying on your brake when you get to the end of what it will travel, then shifting with the brake firmly engaged, hitting the gas lightly, then letting off the brake to shoot through the lowest spot where your tires were resting? I watched prior to you winching, and the truck went back to rest before you applied power again. I learned that in these kinds of snow conditions you just described. I fully acknowledge that you are highly professional and proficient, so I don't want to step on your toes. You're a go to favorite to watch!
I really enjoy your content. I drive a concrete mixer and we get stuck all the time (we have a lot of mud where I live and work) so I have some understanding of how every job is different and sometimes dangerous. Thanks for helping us all learn.
You are more than a Great Guy ❤️🙏 I want to Give you Big Huge Hugs for moving the little bunny. 👍👍👍❤️ Your Channel is one of the BEST RUclips Channels EVER!!!!!

Just two days ago I parked my 4x4, with somewhat old A/T's, on the side of the road. Similar snow like that but less of it, not even 20 centimeters, but there it stayed when it was time to go. Not an issue, I had a shovel, but goes to show what happens when it thaws a bit and then freezes again.

Casey people do not understand is the Standard Towing or Rescue companies are charging from the time they leave the shop until the time they get back or on to there next destination.

I'm sorry but that there is NOT a Jeep except from the sticker that says Jeep, it's a Fiat 500X dressed up as something that could go off the pavement but in Italy.
I learned a long time ago, that 4x4 was made people's mistakes, not to see how deep or dangerous, or far out you can drive alone before.....yes I still have a lot of travels overlanfing, but, carry all tools and travel with others.
Loved when he replied "it made it IN no problem!" as well as Casey at the end "get stuck and find out".

On the car Jeeps you have to make sure you have the center diff locked so it's more a part time 4x4 then the full time/ AWD. Plus hold down the traction control button until esp turns off or it will kill your throttle
Or - surprise, surprise, check this out - learn how to drive first. Next time no summer tires too!
Thank you for another great video. I always enjoy watching your videos. I am an expert in risk assessment, and although it may seem like a pain to walk back-and-forth getting cameras…but what you’re doing is actually really great for mitigating risk. It breaks up the real time risk assessment, which makes the cameras a great deliberate control measure. You seem to naturally assess risk in real time and have created excellent control measures in your procedures.
my daily dose of vicarious snow play day...as i sit by the fire!
All in a days work, appreciate it.😊
Another great video and thank you for explaining so much about the fluffy and crunchy snow and tow prices!
Good morning 🌞
Need to Hire Grumpy For Full Time Camera Man, would save you a ton of leg work. Besides it adds Humor to the rescues !
Having grown up in Western Pennsylvania and now living in Moundsville WV, I know exactly what you're talking about and the situation you're in! Eddie
I like those scenic routes also.
Your 360° on a stick is awesome!
Thanks for taking us along!
Always good when the video starts off with Riley !!! Grumpy is second ..
Thanks for letting us sit in your office for a while today.
Terrific commentary, keep up the awesome footage
The 360 camera is an awesome addition !
Thanks to you for showing me the MorrFlate! I love mine!
Thank you Casey, my wife and I enjoy your viedos of you office ( scenery ) and your kindness. Thank you for explaining the towing pricing. Keep the viedos coming plz PREACE to all
Cassy you are a very good guy and you have great towing experience.

You do good helping people.
Love it "get stuck and find out" nice one Casey 😂👍

Driving in that snow is like rock crawling in the rain a total pain if you have the wrong equipment
