What a cool peace of kit, I used to be a saddle maker and we used to give away all type of off cuts of leather to people who knocked on the door, not sure if you got any leather places around you live should ring up or knock on doors as they give you what you like as only used to lob in bin
👏🏻it did what you wanted it to do👏🏻 . You never know till you have a go... you certainly had me in suspense = great stuff and successful outcome, no big deal the oversize, can all be corrected- it was the main function that’s mattered.
I enjoyed watching that, you could make a little business out of those and sell them. You could personalise them for people, do THG one endless possibilities 😃
So the keyringleather is little bigger.Look at the bright side Rick, now it would be harder for you to lose your keys now lol.But in all seriousness it looks fantastic
I put masking tape on the leather's back and then put it on the mat and it will not transfer or peel off the leather fibers. It will stick and cut just fine
Nice project, so glad you are back to making videos again! You've been missed! If you want to emboss leather, you will need to get some vegetable tanned tooling leather (here, they sell small pieces of it in big box craft stores). That tends to be a stiffer leather--though to emboss, you will need to dampen it with a moist sponge first, which also softens and makes it easier to cut. I've never done tooling with a cutting machine (I do it by hand), but if I did, I'd let it dry on the sheet before removing, since any pressure on wet leather will make a permanent impression. BTW--is that a Cricut Maker?
If it looks like cloth on the back, it's probably fake leather, usually called Pleather (plastic leather i guess) I recently bought some pleather to cover my computer desk, it measures about 0.8mm, some older fake leather i got which was usually called Leathercloth (many disco speakers were covered in it in the 70'S) has an obvious cloth backing and measures 1.2mm
Wow Rick, that turned out really well for an experimental test piece. The cricut machine is quite interesting and seems to be more versatile than I thought. I think that I’ve only ever seen people make stickers in other videos I’ve watched, though I’ve never watched any specific to the cricut machine. I’m guessing that the metallic embossing will wear off rather quickly as you yourself supposed. But interesting to see that it could be done. You’re really quite creative. What about cutting the design (wolf head) out of a different colored leather and gluing it to the key ring? Meant to ask in the last cricut video, what is the average life of the mats? And can they just be renewed with that tacky spray stuff or must you purchase a whole new mat? Thanks for another really enjoyable and interesting video. I’m so in awe of how nicely you’ve set your space up🤩
Thanks for the great comments. I think the mat can last quite a long time with proper cleaning, (Quick how-to video coming shortly), I’m not sure about the tacky sprays, but a set of mats are not particularly expensive when it comes to eventually replace them
Can I just say, Rick, it's really great to see you looking so well and being enthused to make videos again. Mojo is back...nice one!
That was fascinating mate. Enjoyed that. Those Cricut machines can do a lot can’t they :).
Great experiment, lots of useful lessons! A campervan key ring would be cool 😎

Loving all these crafting videos and experiments, you're learning and we're learning too! Thanks Rick :)
Good attempt that Rick!
Least you'll not lose your keys with that monster keyring 😁
Really enjoying these recent videos, Rick, very entertaining. :) And you look happier than ever ^^
Brilliant Rick
Very clever bit of kit …… and the operator of course 😉😊👍
Great video
All the best
This is so beautiful! Perfect for a LRP prop

Would look really nice as a suitcase tag! Won’t get as much wear and tear as a keying would as well!
That Wolf logo has such a tough look to it...it's awesome!
You Just need to make a giant bag now so if you ever manage to go out you can take your keyring :)
did a good job, when i got craft robo i was cutting allsorts, great fun

Hey Rick .... Never mind a Keyring, that's actually a 'Paper-Weight' .... Well done Mate ;-)
loved your viseo it was very interesting
Very impressed. If you do a pretend leather or something similar, ill order one. Ohhh with initials on.
You never cease to amaze me Rick - only got your own bloody leather store now! How cool is that?
Looks good🙂
I put masking tape on the leather's back and then put it on the mat and it will not transfer or peel off the leather fibers. It will stick and cut just fine
great tip - thanks
Brilliant, would have been better if you measured a standard keyring before you started mate

You should put vinyl on the mat then put the leather on it .your mat will stop nice and clean

I wonder how long it will be until you have your own etsy shop selling keyrings :p. Great video that machines quite versatile
5 stars tutorial
You could make a bigger one and use it as a cod piece or sporran.
😂😂
Are you going to continue making truck driving videos?
very likely from time-to-time 👍
