Ben Shapiro literarily just said well if systemic racism existed then everyone would oppose them. No Ben, I don’t think racist would oppose racism.
There's no such thing as racism, sexism, homophobi-ism, islamphobi-ism, dead-beat-dad-ism, white supremacism and all the other -isms.
Systemic racism is not the same as the kind of racism that an individual exhibits. The system can disfavor certain people purely by chance, with no animus or hatred, due to history. A racist person either hates or is unfamiliar with another race and thus treats them differently than they would someone of their own race. The outcome may be similar, but the impetus is very different.

36:07 'Many many black people in congress' There have been 10 black senators ever. If they were all serving at the same time they'd still be underrepresented.
Congress is the House & Senate, genius.
@dan Lewis There’s been less than 50 black representatives. The point still stands
The current representation in Congress is 11% overall for black people - which almost matches their makeup of the total population. They are underrepresented in the Senate though, for sure. If you also account for the disparity in the % of the population that receives higher education, it more than adjusts for this.
Here, I don't think we are seeing a case for racism. Instead we are just seeing, once again, a result of the statistical likelihood of blacks to have certain levels of education and income.
Whether or not you believe that this is due to systemic racism is a much more complicated debate. It's not actually an obvious issue.
I also dislike the term systemic racism as a whole because I don't think it properly addresses what is actually going on, which is a population that has a culture and economic standing that IS very disadvantaged by "historical" pressures.
The high economic status of your average Nigerian, for example, points to the issue being affected deeply by culture. I think that the welfare state does disadvantage blacks and leads to a larger number of single-parent households (roughly 77% - which is insane), and the victim mentality is certainly a cancer.
It is not that people aren't justified to think that they've been disadvantaged. Many white people are as well. The issue is the way that we are trying to solve the problem to begin with. You cannot rely on the state to solve all of your problems and you can't just blame white people for what is happening. Our tax dollars need to be spent much more intelligently, black culture needs a movement that is empowering to THEM, and education certainly needs improvement (although, like what was said in the video, I don't think just throwing money at the issue is a solution.)
What I really wish is that people didn't act like this were all so obvious. If we started looking at each other as humans first and foremost, and not victims vs oppressors, then we could step back and look at the issues in a way that actually allows for productive solutions to be found. Right now the narrative is creating an attack and defense mentality, instead of one of unified healing.
there are actually more jewish senators than black senators....which is saying sth bc jews are like 3% of america.... theres almost an even number of jewish reps too.

frosty 4 u except not everyone is able to even in other countries. Are you that slow?

I think there should be a fairly high floor to what is taxed from an inheritance starting at probably one million dollars and continuing from there. I hate the fact that the 1% pay effectively nothing in taxes, but in my mind it is impossible to justify levying a tax against a middle class family.

I think the moving to a richer area part was not meant to say that you "should just move lol" but that richer people leaving the poorer areas have their taxes moving alongside them. This would cause a snowball effect since as the funding decreases more parents will start to move out of the area, further decreasing funding. The voucher system would unchain the school funding from the districts, but it could work only if the size of the voucher wasn't related to what area you live in. This would allow people to "vote with their feet" and prevent schools from becoming overcrowded in the long run. Also as Destiny said overcrowding lowers the quality of schools, so why would they keep getting masses of people lining up to enroll?
Destiny attempted to relocate to another school but was unable to move in this debate.

The left/liberals can't/don't argue and just say their opponents are wrong but that is pushing people to the right. Destiny even made me support trans rights wich no one else managed to do
Okay, your school voucher point is just wrong. First of all the "bad school" is not in your house and is not something as an individual it is your duty to take care of, so you fail there. Second, minority parents take their kids all the time to charter schools. You stating this is not possible is just bigotry. Finally, as far as overcrowding, new Charter schools are made all of the time, so if the parents of a school think the schools is becoming overcrowded, people will open a new charter school and parents will switch their kids to the new school.
,
Thinking that minority parents should keep their kids in crappy schools just because they are near their home is what is stupid. Also, this guy not understanding how students transferring out of a school effects the funding of that schools is just laughable. The truth is that schools are funded based on the number of students attending. This is why schools have to take attendance and why they care so much about students attending. When a student transfers schools, the funding for that student leaves the old school and goes to the new school. That is the reason that school vouchers force bad schools to get better through competition.
Here is an article discussing the link between school funding and attendance. This kids is why you don't go and spout off a bunch of crap about something you have little knowledge on. You just end up looking dumb.

I thought you wanted to argue about Ben Shapiro being wrong. The video just showes that your ideology is ignoring facts.
Genuine question here. Destiny says that the idea of implicit bias is stupid, yet the very next section is about resume discrimination. How would resume discrimination be considered systemic when it's individuals making the decision to call applicants back? Wouldn't this somewhat prove implicit bias exists on the part of the employer? I don't see how discrimination based off the sound of someone's name is systemic, it sounds a lot more like implicit bias
No. resume discrimination is explicit bias.
If I see “Jamal” on a resume, and I make up a reason to throw that shit in the trash because I fucking hate n***ers, It’s just a sly way for me to be explicitly racist.
Implicit bias is when you don’t think you have a bias against black people, but you do subconsciously. Most of the people throwing out black sounding name resumes, and resumes that give pronouns for that matter, are perfectly aware of what they are doing. They are racist, sexist, transphobic, whatever.
Implicit bias would be much more likely in the interview process. Like, you talk to a black guy and just get vague “bad vibes”.
@@deriznohappehquite i commented this two years ago so i might be a little hazy on the details, but iirc destiny says that arguing the existence of implicit bias with a conservative is stupid because the systemic racism argument is much more effective -- it's more concrete, there are solid facts and statistics to which you could point. he then goes on to talk about resume discrimination as an example of systemic injustice. whether the personal bias of resume bias is implicit or explicit is irrelevant to my point, because the bias is still exclusive to one person, not systemic. destiny argues that systemic racism doesn't require any racist actors per se because the system itself produces racist outcomes. resume bias does not illustrate that point.
i still think that resume bias could be a form of implicit bias - and you're right, it could also be a form of explicit bias, it just depends on the situation - but that wasn't really the crux of what i was saying

They have obvious differences but i would be really interested if they did an actual converstion not a meme debate.
@@shawnb1919 whatre the things they have in common?
I’m a conservative and still am despite listening to Destiny. The reason why is not Becuase destiny doesn’t make good points (he actually makes better points than Ben) but because I just want my people to maintain power and dominance over other races of people. And I will do whatever is in my power to keep systematic racism alive.
ben lies a lot. The study he cities for redlining contradicts everything he says word for word. www.bostonfed.org/publications/research-department-working-paper/1992/mortgage-lending-in-boston-interpreting-hmda-data.aspx . i've known that he is a fraud since 2014. he once said that if you read mein kamf hitler was heavily influenced by marx , like in a positive way. in reality, hitler actually hated Marx and communism. his fan base is full of stupid people who never actually read his sources.
The way you banned the guy for having a different opinion is messed up.
cry about it lol you’re probably the one who got banned
Okay there bud, I don't watch him on twitch lol. I would sooner give money to ben shabino
S k u l l • D a d I think it was somewhere around 5 - 20 minutes in
@@durtydann Imagine your argument being “cry about it”
New to the channel. Love the way the arguments are time stamped. Holy hell, so organized!
I'd like to see you debate Ben Shapiro, but I don't ever think you'll get the chance. You're so emotionally charged in everything that you do, it's hard to take in the ideas when they're laced with such venomous ad hominems. It's like you've lost the ability to argue points based solely on merit, you come off unhinged.
I get that you do whatever is best for you, but I think you're being shortsighted with your recent change to the "fuck you, fuck this, fuck it all" perspective. It's one thing if you're doing it for humor's sake, but you're spewing out more hate than Klansmen, man.
Eh, he can reel it in. He was surprisingly respectful when speaking with Jesse Lee Peterson (especially given the number of personal attacks thrown his way).
@@rowofwargnomes I get what you're saying, but I disagree. First, that was a long time ago, his demeanor these days is super high-strung and venomous. I would agree with you if he WAS crazy before, but now he's calming down, but it's the opposite- he was calm before and he's becoming crazy. David Pakman made the same observation in his discussion with him.
Second, I watch Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder- they regularly speak to guests who disagree with them, and a hyper-rational lefty streamer with a big following would be a great opportunity for them AND Destiny. But if you just google Destiny and watch 5-10 minutes of content, it's pretty clear that you should not expect him to be able to even consider your argument to be made in good faith- so it's just not possible to have a productive conversation.
It seems that he doesn't want to actually debate topics, so much as beat the shit out of bad-faith straw men.
@@Phyoka Long time ago? Dude, what are you talking about? The last time he spoke with JLP was 4 months ago.. I've been watching Destiny since he was with ROOT gaming 10 years ago-- you're likely new if you think he used to be calm. He's always been notoriously loud-mouthed and toxic. It's a massive part of the reason why he's drawn his audience.

Why no link to the papers destiny brought up to support his points in the description?
They really had to name him “Jamal”? CmonBruh
Smh shouldve named him Ryan
tyrese?
Common black name
THIS is the content that I want, and this is the content we NEED going into the 2020 election. A heavyweight hitter like Destiny giving the people tools to fight against the dribble that comes out of the conservative pipeline.
Like thirty seconds in Destiny was so bored he misheard Shapiro and misrepresented the argument. It is understandable but isn't a great look for him.
@@billnye5511 he does this every time then he says something like " i thought" "i feel like" wwho gives a fuck what his feelings have to do with it
"Okay this is not true! Actually its kinda true" lol fails all day long. Destiny get back on dems you lookin beat
Pact Suprize Facts don’t care about your feelings libtard.
Pact Suprize He’s referencing the data on the issue. Obviously, he’s not going to go into every single minute detail. There are plenty of studies affirming what Destiny is saying. Destiny is just giving a general overview of why Ben Shapiro is wrong. If you want an actual in depth analysis that debunks conservative talking points, there are plenty of channels for doing that lol.
LETS GOOOO I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VID HAEN'T EVEN SKIPPED THE AD BUT WOOOOO I'VE BEEN WAITING
I grew up in Oakland, went to a high school that was 90% minority, and basically spent my entire pre-college life around black folks: to this day, I've NEVER met a black girl named Chloe. I literally didn't even learn to pronounce that name until college (which was 80% white), because every Chloe I've ever met or known of was white. So yeah, that study about "black names" is... whew.
Destiny actually sounds like a leftist in this debate.
@James R The T in LGBT can't even accept one another, the online left should just be ignored as politically ineffective
@@jackdutfield6096 The left kinda does. Most of Destiny's viewers are lefties and progressives. Even Destiny occasionally describes himself as a sorta lefty soc dem. I think the leftist arc has been dragged too long and the meme is being beaten to death.
@James R Most of us do it's just Destiny doesn't embrace us. He seems to highlight people who called themselves leftist, but have no idea what that means like that Joshua Colins guy.
I'm far left and I appreciate people like Destiny. He's a weirdo and I don't agree with him on everything. But he expertly destroys idiots like Shapiro. And that's NEVER a bad thing.
@@Supernautiloid I feel the same, but it gets tiresome when he keeps strawmanning the left and states that progressives and lefties are completely different.

I guess I mean I was raised in a house with my great grandparents the oldest was born 1913
We should just get screwattack to cover destiny vs ben shapiro at this point
can you have the video volume youre listening to the same as your mic volume ? shit is annoying as hell to lower and higher
Also, Destiny said Ben Shapiro made the "just move argument" when Ben literally never said that. He didn't tell people to move, he said people have moved for this reason. Observation not a suggestion.
This video is already really sad on Destiny's part.
When they say black sounding names I would often think of african names such as Oluwatosin, Oluwatomi or Tonye (for instance; Nigerian names although technically Nigeria has many languages so Nigerians who speak different languages would answer names from their native language)
In here in the UK, a lot of people would quite often think of black sounding names as African names
As somebody else from the UK I agree when talking about here it’s likely to mean Nigerian or Ghanaian or Somali etc names but it’s more than that. Its a lot of (stereotypically) American names that either come from African languages directly or are interpretations of those names from the bible or French or Arabic or Spanish or completely unique and new names. Its similar with Black West Indians names as well but more distinctive and separate and with it definitely applies to here in the UK as well in the way of negative responses.
I'm confused about how unemployment rates are affected by which college you went to and which major you picked... so underemployment is now unemployment?
I think you misunderstand the vouchers, the idea from my understanding is that the vouchers would have funding for the student attached.
Just debate him for God's sake.
A few points:
A. the inherited wealth section was in response to the argument that redlining is a large part of why black people are poor today, because they did not have an inheritance
B. there was a large split in black naming conventions in the 1970's when there was a movement to disassociate with "white" names. The 2nd study found that names typically given by parents with a college degree or greater were more likely to get a callback. An example was Jalen, vs DaShawn.
A shapiro or crowder vs destiny debate is something I really hope I will see at some point.
Wait a minute, doesn't Destiny make the just move argument when it comes to housing? or am I interpreting those arguments wrong?
Destiny made the argument that if you are poor in an expensive neighborhood, you should move to a cheaper one. Shapiro's example was that a poor family could move to a more expensive neighborhood to get a better school.

Ben doesn't care about solving problems.
Because these problems have no impact on his life
What are your solutions?
I kinda notice that a lot, like the conservative view may hve some truth to it, but it ignores the bigger picture and ignores the actual source of the problem
that is literally all he is interested in. solving the problems.
Vouchers let you choose where your kids go, if a school want more kinds and therefore more money, it will HAVE to improve itself.
In a fixed income, that depends on fixed tax the school have no reason to improve. why should it? the money will come either way.
Problem- louzy school
Solution- force it to improve by introducing option for more income.
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one

The dude who donated literally just wants destinies input. I feel like Destiny thinks too high of himself, he just assumes that the dono is going to follow destiny's ruling as if all of his followers think hes some king lawmaker.
The dude could've just wanted another perspective. Am I wrong? Why so fucking aggressive
yeah destiny is typically really shitty to donators, he often mutes text-to-speech in the middle of donos just because he's annoyed.
he's a good rhetorician, but his personality is so off-putting.

Destiny’s criticism against school vouchers is so I’ll informed, he likely spent no time researching the actual outcomes in states and counties that tried them...
Much better thought you were going down the alt right rabbit hole.
Destiny? Never. Too smart.
Don’t get it twisted, he’s an asshole. But he’s still an intelligent asshole.
I’ve not watched destiny for that long and the first videos I found were his debates Lauren southern etc. I found his recent videos all seemed to be anti leftist and that’s why I thought he was perhaps going down that route. His content now in my opinion is defiantly more centrist than his older stuff.

Yes! Getting back to the good stuff.
LOL "I dont do laundry, I BUY new underwear"
On the school vouchers thing, if we enacted that policy then obviously everyone that COULD move their kids would want to move their kids to the school that was already "nice." Not only would this result in overcrowding at that school, causing problems for the kids there, but it would direct money away from the already struggling school and send it to the nicer one. The result would be education also becoming worse for the children that have to stick around since now they're even more drained of resources.
