I have to say I've watched your site since the tone master pro came out. Loved your insight. I got mine finally a few days ago. Put on the new firmware and I'm very impressed. Now I'll go back and rewatch your videos again! Thanks so much.
Thank you Doug for this video, it such a great help, and Fender is doing such a good job in communicating with their customers, Jason is always there answering questions and given guidance
Hi Doug, thanks for all the good work. My favorite feature with scenes is how it integrates with set list and songs. Maybe you could cover that! Before scenes we had to duplicate a preset as many times as needed in songs parts. Now we can just use a scene!
I hope Fender will come with a option to have the footswitches independent of the scenes. This way, the scene (only when the preset is active) wouldn't affect the on or off state of the footswitch when switching scenes. That would be my preference. I like to use the scenes for channels such as clean, dirt, and lead, similar to a real amp with multiple channels. The Switchlink option of the TMP can do this but has a major drawback when linked to your amps; if you accidentally turn off this footswitch, your amps turn off, and you have no amp, unlike scenes where you always have a base scene.
This is one feature I've asked about in the TMP discord. For me, I want the option to be able to use the virtual capo independant of scenes so that I can toggle it if a song requires a different key, but the scenes are still good for the new song.
Hi Doug, first of all I appreciate your time and info that you put into your videos. I’m very interested in the MIDI set up. This video is the first time I heard of MIDI so I did some research. I’m very interested in seeing what you come up with for the tone master pro. My question would be can I have the MIDI set up as a loop station so I don’t have to get out of my preset and jump into the looper, preset on FTMP. thanks again for all your content.
Yes, that can be programmed via MIDI. The TMP Looper's functions can be controlled via MIDI, so you could use a MIDI foot controller to control the Looper without having to touch anything on the TMP. That's a good idea for a video, thanks!
Hi Doug, thank you very much for great videos about TMP. Recalling scenes via MIDI is great but I think we are missing recalling songs via MIDI. In our band we have iPads with OnSong app ditributing lyrics and I also use this to send commands to my pedalboard via BomeBox. Scenes allow versions of one preset, but songs allow any combination of presets to be available on footswitch. This is even higher level of abstraction. Do you know how to manage/workaround this? The only way I found is to have scenes of very complex preset, but that is not flexible enough because you only have 8 variations + base for each preset.
I plan on digging into using MIDI for controlling the TMP soon, but I do see your point about not having any commands set up for recalling Songs. Hopefully Fender will address this in an update.
Hi Doug! I made a preset with 3 scenes grunge/clean/heavy ... after some rehearsals I wanted a new ranking of my scenes clean/grunge/heavy ... but don't if this is possible or how I can change that? maybe you have an answer ? thanks 4 your support and videos!! greetings from Austria! Heinz🎸🤘
Hello Heinz! You can do this on the unit or in Pro Control - go into Footswitch Assign. From there you can click on any of the round icons (not the scene name) and drag it to the location you prefer. Hope this helps, and thanks for watching!
Thanks for your videos👍 With Helix this is covered in Global Settings, Snapshot Edits, Recall or Discard. Does the TMP not have this option yet? I don’t yet have the Fender, but I feel a purchase coming on
I always enjoy watching your videos and I appreciate it. This is unrelated to the scene function, but I have a question. Do you know if the expression pedal "Ampero II Press" made by Hotone works properly with Tone Master Pro?
I can't say for sure that it will, but I can say that it *should* work. It uses a TRS for the expression and a 1/4" for the toeswitch, just like the Fender Mission pedal.
@@DougBsDigitalDen Thank you for your reply. I tried using Hotone's Ampero ⅱ Press with Tone Master Pro. It worked without any problems. I have noticed a warble effect when switching scenes if my delay pedal is on, even if the delay parameters are the same in each scene. I have a deluxe memory delay in all my scenes set to always on with same parameters but still get a warble effect when switching scenes. Any ideas on that?
Well Fender listens, yes kind of, and Scenes is finally here yes, but to make Fender understand that Switchlink wasn't a replacement for Scenes/Snapshots were months of discussion and even tension on the Discord forum. It took them a year to implement this, OK, when is finally here is a weird version of version of Snapshot mixed with Switchlink again and but now with added screen lag and even slight audio gap. I'm not too impressed to be honest. As you said, better have it that don't, but not the ideal outcome so far.
am also experiencing a volume drop when switching from one scene to another scene, i reverted back to assigning a parameter change to a footswitch, no audio or volume drops at all
Hi Doug, First of all, thank you for these interesting video tutorials! I take this opportunity to ask you for your opinion. Maybe I missed some of your past videos, I've been following you since the last summer, and at the moment I don't have a Fender Tone Master Pro (I've had some Mustang amps, M3 V1 and V2 and I still have a Mustang GTX 100 with its control pedal board and Exp. 1 pedal ), but I saw an extended review and test by an Italian colleague of yours a couple of weeks ago and he was enthusiastic about many features of the Tone Master Pro (he's a former Fractal Audio endorser and musician who mainly uses both FM9 /Axe FX3, also FM3 sometimes ) but... he was not satisfied with not being able to use a configuration of ambient effects / modulation in true parallel "wiring" (and the same goes for Helix for example or others like it) as Steve Lukather did, for example, with Toto or in general in the 80s (is it called Tri-amping from what he says?). That is, he believes that at the moment only Fractal has this feature that mainly makes it professional among modelers: being able to have some effects in parallel (post amp chain ) as if they were rack / studio effects then having the two independent dry and wet parameters and also (very important) the switch that should be called Kill-Dry on Fractal modelers , which blocks the Dry signal output once the effect is deactivated. Therefore, there is no unwanted effect of the output level doubled signal when this effect is turned off. Apart from this he is not very convinced by the spatiality or stereo image of the ambient effects (accustomed as he is with those of Fractal precisely). And on this in case it may be Fender to improve the algorithms of the reverbs or other, in the future. Maybe it's also a matter of taste, after all. Is it true that at the moment it is not possible to configure (a few) effects in true parallel? obviously on the Fender Tone Master Pro there is no a matrix to create the path for a chain with some effects in parallel as in a smaller scale than FM9/AXE FX3 can also be done on FM3, but in case Fender should think about adding a similar functionality with some future update. Or is there already some trick to achieve something similar? Thanks a lot! Dimitri (Italy)
Hello Dimitri - The TMP does not have the "grid" that Fractal modelers use for making true parallel FX paths. They have 16 pre-defined signal paths, and making complicated setups isn't possible on the TMP. I think Fender wanted to make the TMP easier to use overall and weren't trying to get the "super users" demographic. Thanks for writing! -Doug B

I just tried this using both the Stereo Memory Man and the Stereo Tape Echo, no warble effect here.
