- St. Agatha, also known as Agatha of Sicily, is one of the most highly venerated virgin martyrs of the Catholic Church. She is believed to be born around 231 in either Catania or Palermo, Sicily
From her very early years, the beautiful Agatha became a consecrated virgin. But that did not stop men from desiring her.
Quintianus desired Agatha and because he was of high diplomatic ranking, thought he could force her to turn away from her vow. Agatha consistently turned down his proposals.
Knowing she was a Christian during the persecution of Decius, he had her arrested and brought before the judge. He was the Judge.
Because she only reaffirmed her belief in God, Quintianus had her imprisoned in a brothel.
Agatha never lost her confidence in God, even after a month of assaults and efforts to get her to abandon her vow to God.
Enraged, Quintianus sent her off to a prison.
Agatha continued to proclaim Jesus as her Savior. So, Quintianus ordered her to be tortured.
Noticing Agatha was enduring the torture with a sense of cheer, he commanded she be subjected to a worse form of torture.
He then sent her back to prison with an order of no food or medical attention. But the Lord was her Sacred Physician and protector. Agatha then had a vision of the apostle, St. Peter, who healed her wounds through his prayers.
After four days, Quintianus had her stripped and rolled over hot coals mixed with sharp shards. When she was returned to prison, Agatha prayed, "Lord, my Creator, you have ever protected me from the cradle; you have taken me from the love of the world and given me patience to suffer: receive now my soul."
Agatha is believed to have passed into Heaven around the year 251.
St. Agatha is the patron saint of Sicily, bellfounders, breast cancer patients, rape victims, and wet nurses. She is also considered a powerful intercessor when people suffer from fires. Her feast day is celebrated on February 5.

About a year and a half ago, close to Christmas, my wonderful next door neighbor was diagnosed with malignant breast cancer; it spread to other parts of her body. I called on Saint Agatha to intercede, and gave my neighbor a Saint Agatha breast cancer Rosary as a Christmas gift. My neighbor had a successful double mastectomy and is doing amazing; she has a few more rounds of chemo to go, but is otherwise thriving, smiling, and living her life; and I believe she will soon be completely cancer free. Thanks be to God. Saint Agatha, thank you for your help and continue to pray to God for us!

If you're not religious but are moved by stories of the saints...someone in heaven is reaching out to you. Dead giveaway. Pray to this person to reveal themself to you--it just needs to be a simple prayer: "friend in heaven, I accept your friendship, please reveal yourself to me."--and within several weeks they will answer you. It probably won't be a vision like St. Agatha had of St. Peter, but it will be unmistakable. Once you know who your friend is, they will be able to lead you to God in a way that will make sense to you. Trust an ex-atheist turned Catholic.
@@drillsargentadog I was raised Roman Catholic and several other religions, Baptiste 2 times all 3 times because my mentally ill mother thought I was evil, I ran from the Church on the day of my Holy Communion, so I don't need to pray. Demons are real and pose as angels they work through people such as yourself, what right do you have to judge me or demand that I pray. Please keep your so called religious B.S to yourself.

I am not religious, but last night I had a dream. My mom was talking and suddenly said St Agathas name in Italian (my mom doesn’t know Italian nor have we ever heard of her before). I had felt a presence in my room before the dream had started. I instantly woke up when her name was said. I looked up the name I had heard in my dream and found out that it was St Agatha. After learning about her and what she stands for, I felt safe and warm and was able to go back to sleep. I still felt the presence but I had the best sleep I have had in a long time. I am not sure what to make of this encounter. I feel as though she could be one of my protectors, because I believe there are spirits that protect people. I am a victim of rape, so maybe she was around because of that. I really am not sure what to think, I am not religious but I am open to any thoughts you may have or advice you may give me.
The saints, along with the angels, are our dear heavenly friends and fellow brethren in Christ. I believe God sent the dream to you to make friends with Agatha so that you may open your heart to Him.
Hi Madi--it may be the case that St. Agatha is trying to reach out to you. This sometimes happens with saints: they reach out to people they are trying to protect, befriend, or contact. Inevitably she will try to lead you to God, which is probably why she's reaching out--basically, you're ready to start on that path and she's trying to help you do so. Try praying some of the following prayers and asking God for clarity:
1. to ask a friend in heaven to reveal themself to you: "friend in heaven, I accept your friendship, please reveal yourself to me."
2. Prayer to St. Agatha : "O Saint Agatha,
you resisted unwelcome advances from unwanted suitors,
and suffered pain and torture for your devotion to our Lord Jesus Christ;
we celebrate your faith, dignity and martyrdom.
Protect us from sexual and other violations,
guard us against all afflictions,
and inspire us to overcome adversity.
Saint Agatha, virgin and martyr,
mercifully grant that we who venerate your sacrifice
may receive your intercession in times of need. Amen."
There are many more you can find online--praying any one of them will probably get her attention, especially if she has reached out. If it is indeed Agatha, she will probably respond in some way, but be prepared for this to be kind of indirect (almost never a vision; sometimes dreams; most typically just weird coincidences in daily life).
3. Prayer to your guardian angel: "Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen."
Remember that your guardian angel specifically chose you to protect and guide because he loves you (more than your parents, spouse, friends, children--more than any human. Only God loves you more.) God specifically created him to protect you and he accepted it knowing roughly who you would be. Trust his love for you. Cultivating a devotion to your guardian angel will help you team up with him, defeat the evil that opposes us all, and finally come to God.
4. Try praying some standard prayers:
Our Father "Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Hail Mary: "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death."
Glory be: "Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."
These are powerful invocations of Jesus, Mary, and the Holy Trinity that Catholics say everyday. By praying these, you are signaling to God that you are ready to accept his plan for your life. Inevitably, He will try and lead you toward Himself.
5. Finally, when you are ready, attend a Catholic mass. Remember not to receive Communion until you officially enter the Church (it will be obvious by that point). To learn why google "Catholic true presence" or "catholic Eucharistic theology". Lastly, you might want to attend a Traditional Latin Mass, if this is offered in your area, since this is a very ancient and beautiful form of the liturgy. Do not feel bad if at first you are mostly attracted to the artistic beauty--God frequently works through human experiences to bring you to him.

Beautiful. My husband came to the Lord because of a dream. God knows everything about you. St. Agatha is there for rape victims. Ask for her to intercede with your complete healing, she is heaven sent. "God did not give us a spirit of fear but of Power and of Love and sound mind." God bless you and thanks for sharing.
